The Breast Care Center at United Medical Park has been serving the Cedar Valley since 2003. He also saw the need to consistent follow-up care for breast cancer patients. Research for the Breast Care Center began by looking at breast health needs from a woman's perspective. An advisory board of local women met to help guide the decisions in the formation of the Breast Care Center.

Our nurse practitioner, Theresa Borcherding, sees and follows patients for a variety of concerns. We offer in-office ultrasound, ultrasound guided fine needle biopsy (cytology), and ultrasound guided core biopsy (tissue).

How We Work Report

The Breast Care Center completely coordinates all your services and support for breast cancer and other breast concerns. We create a relationship between you and your healthcare provider for seamless, efficient and easy way to meet all your breast health needs. The center is for women with breast problems, which includes a family history of breast cancer, an abnormal mammogram, a palpable abnormality or an abnormal discharge from your breast. We're also your resource for up-to-date breast health information and education for anyone with breast health questions or concerns.

Faq Report

As long as your facility utilizes digital mammography, and most do, it does not matter. Tomosynthesis (tomo) (3D) mammography is the standard in mammography, but not all facilities have 3D. Women with significantly dense breasts or a history of breast cancer benefit the most from this technology. Instead of having two views done of each breast, the 3D can take digital picture "slices" of the breast, better visualizing through dense breast tissue.
