So far I have mixed feelings about my family members care. I was shocked to find out that the doctor was giving him Remdesivir, which had a recall at the beginning of this month because glass particulates were found in some batches. Plus it has a bad reputation for causing kidney and liver damage and other major issues with a many, especially nurses I have spoken to on the front lines.

I mentioned this to my family members doctor and he quickly said that the recall was only on "some" batches. How do we know if other batches weren't affected? We find out because people have adverse reactions. Why take the chance when there's other options for treatment. But I told him given the bad reputation, the recall and with some medical journals and articles reporting "no clinical benefit", "Little or no impact on survival", why is he choosing this drug?

I know of two people with no previous comorbidities who went into the hospital with Covid and were given remdesivir in September and October who ultimately died while being treated. I'm giving three stars instead of one star because he quickly listened to my feedback and change the protocol without any pushback. I must've made sense and made a reasonable request.

I was also shocked that two of the nurses on staff had not heard of the recall a few weeks ago by Gilead of this drug Remdesivir (also known as Verlurky). It's like the staff at Kaweah Delta are in a bubble. If a drug has such a horrible track record and has a recall, don't use it. The doctor finally put my family member on a drug that he said has been around much longer and has less side effects.

Should have done this to begin with. I find the sock that we cannot visit even with precautions disturbing given the fact that the best decisions for medical care are not being made for my loved ones. Our loved ones need us to be their advocates. On a positive note the communication has been very good with most of the nurses and doctors at the hospital.

Really bad experience here, waited 6 hrs all to be rushed in the end and not even explained or answer the questions I had. Not all the test that were suppose to be done were. On top of that the woman who drew blood from me severely bruised my arm. I also wanted records send to my pcp which they denied. I called to get them sent over and for some reason it's a hassle.

If I could give 0 stars I would! Wow, just wow where to begin! First of all Filthy! RUDE! Unsanitary! It's like with COVID they just 100% stopped sanitizing or caring. The waiting room is very deceptive, nice clean! The when they put in this "Bull Pin" to be seen, it is so disgusting, unsanitary. You will literally be sitting next to someone who has yet to be tested for covid, AND GOES IN THINKING THEY HAVE COVID!

When the test comes back positive THEY LEAVE THEM NEXT TO YOU! This lady kept taking off her mask and the nurses didn't care at all! Next to elderly people who test negative! No regard for human life at all! If someone is bleeding or covid positive, or anything, when they relocate them they DONT EVEN SANITIZE THE AREA THE PERSON WAS! One restroom and covid positive people use it and everyone else "except nurses" they don't clean or sanitize!

There can be blood, urine, saliva, and they will not clean for people who test negative! the nurses make fun of patience! They come up with rude nick names for people who are really hurt and or covid positive, and elderly people. They dont even hide the nick names and laughing at people IN THE ROOM! The nurses literally told this patient "would you like me to pull **** out my a**! very short and hostile with elderly patients was my last straw!

The problem is that no one is doing a "secret shop" type deal here! If the health department would just visit as a patient they would see the horror that people witness on a daily here! The department has to tell them weeks in advance! Then KAWEAH posts it everywhere so they get prepared! Only have the "good staff" working that day! Actually clean!

And treat humans like humans! I am very surprised they have not been shut down for so many reasons! Unfortunately what's our other choice here in Visalia in an emergency situation! So sad we are stuck with this for our families! But I would risk everything now after this experience to keep my family safe and take a drive elsewhere! Time to get cpr certified

Now some of the staff have been nice and caring to there patients. But come on the wait is insane I have been here since around 7:30pm did see a doctor super nice got blood work and ekg but waiting for CT scan since then I understand emergency first but my child fainted 3 times in less then 15 min span when the ambulance got to my house they were fast and got us here quickly.

But to get a CT scan its 3am it's been almost 8 hours and nothing. Where do I clock in so I can get paid for these hours. And only reason I am still waiting my daughter is a teenager and we live 4 hours away so we need answers. But really this long is ridiculous obviously the doctor felt it was needed so its urgent and nothing. The doctor has left for the day and still waiting.

I had a bad experience having a baby at Kaweah Delta 5 years ago. During the night, a nurse woke me to ask my about my pain and it wasn't bad, so she gave me a half dose of medicine. When I sat up to take it, my pain was way worse, and she refused to increase the dosage to the normal amount. I had to call in the head of the nursing unit. They had to draw my blood a lot, and they couldn't get a vein, so they kept poking me over and over again.

One nurse would poke me a few times, then they'd send in someone else. It was like torture. I politely asked if they could send in their most experienced nurse to draw my blood. They ended up writing down that I had declined the blood draw, even though I hadn't. Then I didn't get the medicine I needed, because they didn't have the info from the blood draw.

I had to go hours without the medicine while they tried to fix it when I asked about it later. The NICU doctor was disrespectful about my wishes to not give our baby a pacifier and was impatient, and actually made a threat to try to bully me at one point. They refused to give my son my own breast milk that was sitting right there, because it wasn't the correct number of millimeters for them to put a scoop of fortifying powder in.

So there was more milk than they needed, more than he would have been able to eat, and they wouldn't give it to him, and the doctor threatened me that if I did not provide more breastmilk in 5 minutes, they would put him back on the IV. My husband literally ran to the hospital, down the street, with my milk. We later had a meeting where she technically apologized, but when I tried to talk about how hurtful it had been for her to threaten me, she said she had places to go and patients to see, in a really rude way.

They also asked for consent to vaccinate my newborn child AFTER it had been already done. They gave him all his 2 month vaccines, when he was only 1 day old, without my consent. There was a lactation consultant named Crystal who was like an angel to me. She was a shining light in a dark time. Several other nurses were very kind as well. But overall, a very bad experience!

The care is good. The wait time not so good. We have been in the ER for over 6 hours waiting for a room to become available for admission. We have received excellent care but the facilities are overwhelmed by the patient flow.

Kweah Delta gets 5 stars in my books. I had the BEST experience from start to finish. From Pre-opt staff, front-end staff, doctors, and all of the nurses were empathic, caring, compassionate, understanding and professional. I don't understand why individuals/patients would give this hospital one star? I also received a follow-up phone call the day after surgery. Kweah Delta Hospital cares.

Thank you to all of the staff at Kweah Delta for taking such wonderful care of me and thank you for ALL that you do during these trying times. Most of all, BIG THANKS to Blair and Zach for taking excellent care of me in the surgery room. The BEST hospital in the Valley!

My mom was in this hospital SIX days awaiting surgery and then she was prepped on day five and then had to leave the surgery just before the surgeon started.yes, emergencies happen. That wasn't the worst of it. She dehydrated and had no IV, passed out in bathroom. It's crazy the staff has not a clue. The scheduling is atrocious! She was passed on from one surgeon to the next and no time ever worked out until day six!

You wonder what the insurance company would say about this ridiculousness? I've had my own two stays here and neither was pleasant. Really poor quality hospital! Wished it were different Oh and it's STILL under construction and under staffed

I never once had any trouble until it came to my daughter's care. The first issue was at the urgent care off their new location. They misdiagnosed her with the flu, no big deal right? Well with the flu-being that my daughter had it before, I know how it is. The second day, it got worse, and I knew something was wrong, took her into the ER, and this is where it gets messy.

The intake team and nurses were amazing- however she was misdiagnosed! On her discharge, it states a test, that they never did- so I have no idea who's test they looked at. Due to the lack of how the ED doctors were, I took her to Children's Hospital the following day because her breathing was still off. The lack of incompetence from the docs was something I rather not deal with. As a parent, I won't be gambling with my child's life ever.

Never been to a hospital where they make you carry around your own Urine sample and wear an iv in the waiting room. Let alone wait 5 hours without seeing a doctor. This is the hospital you go to if you want to get worse instead of healthier. Do not visit the emergency room ever. I mean EVER. Besides the horrible service the place is dirty and not welcoming either.

Let me start by saying this is my very first medical experience in California. I can say that disappointment runs rampant through this hospital. Unfortunately when you articulately talk, even to the "Hospital Administrator", it's a deer in the headlights effect. I recommend meeting this man. Ask him hard questions about his so called "policy".

He will preach policy until he is blue in the face. He will stick to it until. you talk about his lack of empathy for others. No answer when asked why we are treated with policy instead of empathetic discussion and understanding when not every situation should be treated the same. He did change his tune and said that my stepson and I could stay until visiting hours were over.

Twenty minutes later there's a security guard ready to escort us from the building at 8:35. Visiting hours until 9 fyi. All of this because his mother went in seeking medical help for what ended up being very serious issues we had no idea of. Needing to stay overnight and will need surgery. Her son has never experienced that. This hospitals "policy" let him up to the floor in the beginning, no issues.

After an hour, all of the sudden he's to exposed to germs? But we've been up here. Now here's the administrator, who follows a conversation he can't handle, with security? Her son doesn't remember a good hospital experience with his mother at five years old. This hospital made him lose sleep, ask questions he should never have to ask, worry when they could have eased his young mind, plainly set a better human example for our youth.

Also by the way Mr. administrator, you weren't the only one in the room with a four year administration degree lol. Nothing surprised me though. Before all of this, we sat and waited for a room on a floor in that hospital. We heard the news being broken to a new mother that she lost her baby. I quote the Doctor "these things happen" he walked away after saying that?! I thought California cared about human beings. Her face shows me that "People are people wherever you go."

I started researching this hospital after a visit to the ER Wednesday night into morning. We will never return to this ER, even if they had no wait time. The staff is haphazard, uncaring and rude. Not to mention the ER is absolutely disgusting and in total disarray. After being made to wait from 930pm until 4am we were finally put in a room and told that he needed to be admitted for surgery.

I spoke to Ed Largoza, director of patient experience, and expressed the concerns we had during our visit. I told him that the issues we had with the ER were so upsetting that we considered him being discharged and having surgery at another hospital. Because of the urgency, we decided to have the surgery at Kaweah. The surgical team was good and the nurse staff upstairs was everything you'd hope you will get if you were to be admitted for surgery.

If you have a child or baby and have the option to go to another ER, I would suggest that you try anywhere but here first. You're going to wait even if there aren't a ton of people because they are a mess back there

Update: They tell you their diagnosis. Make you freak out. And then tell you that your doctor might tell you something different? Save the panic and go to Tulare or Hanford. Don't waste your time with people who don't know what they are talking about. __________________________ The emergency room area looks super dirty. The whole experience took 8 hours.

People have to sit in a chair outside of rooms just wait to get a room and be seen. Sometimes even be seen WHILE SITTING IN A CHAIR. Which, I know is a mix of because the hospital in Tulare is a closed and because people go into the emergency room with just a cold. i hope with the construction they're doing that they're also remodeling the

The ER was the slowest l have ever seen. The incompetence was obvious. If your not dying it would be better to go some place else. Any place else. They took blood tests of my wife and before she even was seen and really even got a history on her they wanted to release her. Her abdomen has been swelling and just told us blood work look good and had a horrible attitude like we were bothering them. Made him listen to us and after we told him about her autoimmune disease, her liver disease, narcolepsy, thyroid disease among others he started to take us a little more seriously and ordered a cat scan of the abdomen but not before telling us it would be at least 3-4 hours before they got around to us.

I had my son here. I have had to go to therapy for PTSD due to my bad experience: 1) doctor took forever to arrive when I was bleeding internally due to placenta abrupta and they couldn't find a heartbeat. They had to page him twice. Had an emergency section. 2) the night nurse was truly cruel to me. She woke me give me medicine, and my pain level was initially low, but then it went up after I'd moved a little.

She said that she'd given me a half dose of my medicine, due to the initial low pain level upon waking, and that she couldn't give me the second half dose to make a full dose, because I hadn't complained enough. She was completely uncaring and acted like she didn't give a care. I complained to the head nurse and she came back and gave the second half dose.

It was like she was blaming me, almost accusing me of lying about my pain level. 3) they sent someone in to draw my blood. I knew I was a difficult draw, and asked if they could make sure the most experienced person available drew my blood, since I'd already been poked multiple times. They left, sent no one, and said I had declined to have my blood drawn, meaning I did not get needed medicine and treatment based on the blood results until many hours after they were due.

This was really bad, and also resulted in me in tears talking to the head nurse so that they would finally draw my blood. 4) one night, my blood pressure spiked, which was dangerous due to preeclampsia I was recovering from. I literally had to yell "help!" from the patient room to get someone to come, along with my mom running out to find someone. 5) my baby was in the NICU.

The doctor was insulting. When I said I didn't want my baby to have a pacifier, she followed my wishes, but was disrespectful in her response, and later said that every baby deserves a pacifier. Later, when my husband and I went home and I was pumping milk, taking it back and forth to the NICU, I had a hellish experience. They had extra milk of mine there in the NICU, sitting there, that the refused to give my baby, because it wasn't a certain number of milliliters for them to fortify.

They were going to give him formula instead. I had approved this only in the event I wasn't able to produce enough milk. I was having my husband bring over additional milk, and he would be there in 10 minutes. The nurse relayed a message from the doctor to me that, if I didn't want to give him formula, then they would poke him to run an IV.

This was a threat, and cruel, meaningless one, as it takes much longer than 10 minutes to run an IV. And they had my milk, sitting right there, that they refused to give him! We scheduled a meeting with the NICU doctor. She had all of her staff there. I was super gentle, trying to hear and make peace. She abruptly said "I apologize." She wouldn't talk about it at all, and clearly just wanted me to drop it.

I tried to accept her apology, and tried to move on. She talked for a long time, with us trying to make a plan. I hadn't expressed any of my pain or frustration, so when I started to, trying to tell her how hard it was to feel threatened by my son's doctor, she told me she had things to do and places to be. Cold. Like, literally I think those were her words, or close.

She was so disrespectful it took all I had to hold back tears. There were some absolutely wonderful nurses. My OBGYN did a great job in an emergency situation, though it took a long time for him to arrive. The nurse who ran my IV while they watched me beforehand was fantastic. But. That was my experience. For the record, I do forgive that NICU doctor, but it still hurts a lot.
