Bartlett Regional Hospital A history of service. A supportive community. A broad range of healthcare offerings. A lot of pieces have come together to make Bartlett Regional Hospital what it is. We're committed to being the best community hospital in Alaska, so take a closer look at who we are! Originally known as St. Ann's Hospital, the hospital opened in 1886 and was operated by the Sisters of St. Ann until the 1960s. In 1965, the hospital's operations were turned over to the City and Borough of Juneau, and a new facility was built at the hospital's present location on Hospital Drive.

We had a great experience here. The nurses, CNA's, and doctors were all friendly and professional. The doctor even took the time to show us x-rays and explain what was happening. Being from out of town, we were not familiar with the area, and the nurses made sure we were taken care of with food and lodging. They helped make a bad situation a little better.

Bartlett Regional Hospital is really excellent for what it does offer in services with it's small budget. I wish it would a bigger budget to be able to offer more instead of sending patients off for services it cannot offer. What they are able to offer are a team of professional, hard working, top notch doctors, RN's, CNA's and support staff to keep this place going. Sometimes, the staff are stretched thin, services take longer.

The pain management agenda is part regimen, and part guessing for the patient. Pain relief is dispensed, some time passes to the medication to take affect, then a body adjustments. That's where unknown pain could reared its ugly side. Now I'm in a higher level pain, but now I must wait for the next time for the next dose of pain relief. I've gone through a few nights holding on for hours in pain in anticipation of the pain relief dose, it's very a stressful experience. However, the dining facility continues to overcooked their sources of protein, i.e. chicken, eggs, beef, fish that I would tend to leave that on the plate, preferring to have my protein moist, tender, not hard, dry.

The kitchen really needs to do a better quality for taste at smaller portions, not overcooking protein. Food is too bland without a little salt and pepper. It's such institutional food, it's pathetic.

I never hardly got seen, especially by the doctors. I wouldn't bring my dog to this hospital. I was on a 24 hour hold and when it was over I still couldn't get out. I have no clue how this place hasn't been sued for malpractice. The only people that were caring was the BHAs Tessa and Lily. Other than that this hospital is the worst. The doctor even told me not to get my panties in a wade(Dr. KIM). SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISRESPECTFUL.

I'm from Fairbanks and I was here on a work trip. One weekday night after dinner I started feeling very bad at the Hotel, I had intense RUQ stomach pain with referred flank pain for about 6 hours and vomited off and on the whole time. After a while i decided it wasn't food poisoning and decided to take a cab to BRH. There was literally no one in the waiting room and they had me back to a room within like 45 seconds of arriving.

I was the only one in the ER that night which is strange because this is a major stop on the cruise ship tours so I'm sure they get plenty of tourists in. The Doc was very attentive as were the nurses. They had me medicated within minutes and back to the CT within 15 minutes. Turns out my chronic pancreatitis was flaring up so they kept me for observation and discharged me the next day with pain medication and a plan of care.

I was all alone in Juneau and it was sort of nerve racking having this flare up while i was there so it was very nice to have these guys on my side during the struggle. Thanks BRH

I had had the unfortunate disgust in working with the Hospital from a far. I was not the one personally receiving care; but my son was. I have had to deal with NURSES or so CALLED nurses who are just there to get a check. They do not CARE about the well being of my son. The lack of professionalism is a colossal failure and I will seek more advice as to report the Chairman and nurses of this facility. Its ashame that I have had my hands tied to what needs to be done for my child. Seek another facility when you can.

When I went their they were rude. Then the ER nurse couldn't even identity a cyst and instead was immature enough to say it may get be herpes. Then they tried to say I needed to stay in town to see a dermatologist. Needless to say medicine hasn't figured out everything, but they are professional and do have an elitist culture. So take it easy and just get through your experience with them. The what if I have an STD complex is very highschoolish. Anyway I already know how to get rid of cysts and what they are.

Working here for the summer season. Went in ER dying of pain from a kidney stone. Only one person waiting in ER when I arrived. They took me in within minutes and had me medicated via IV in minutes as well. Care was excellent, although I wish they skipped the ultra-sound, which they recommended first and just went straight to the CT scan.which showed exactly where the stone was and the size. Ended up paying for both. Other than the $5,000 ER visit, out of pocket because of my lack of insurance, care was first rate and most importantly in my situation, extremely quick and effecient!

While visiting in Juneau, I came in to the ER with an anaphylactic reaction underway. Staff, nurses and doctor all treated me in a very efficient and professional way. I received top-notch care while being treated. Before being discharged, doctor and nurses all made sure I had all I needed for follow up treatment.

While the nurses were extremely kind and helpful, every single one of the doctors and surgeons that we saw were extremely blunt and unprofessional, starting from saying "you probably have cancer" before the procedure even started, to stopping all medical testing as soon as they learned that we wouldn't be continuing treatment there. On discharge day, we saw 5 different people who knew we were continuing treatment elsewhere, but not a single one even told us that we shouldn't wait around to hear pathology results from them. So now we've waited over a week for results that were never coming.

I wish there was a no star option. The treatment I received here was the worst medical care of my life. If you have an option to go anywhere else, please save yourself a miserable experience and do. I have gone here twice unfortunately. Both times I experienced extreme unprofessionalism and long waits. I experienced doctors telling me it was the end of their shift and they had no energy for me, security walking in during a pelvic exam, nurses flirting with another nurse in my room when attempting to get a pelvic exam, and a nurse telling me my pain wasn't valid and could be cured with a little massage. Ha wouldn't that be nice.
