Joshi & Merchant MD, P.A. is a well-established independent psychiatric practice serving adults (18 and over) in the Baltimore - Washington corridor. We are located in Columbia, MD in Howard County. We have been providing patients with exceptional clinical expertise and compassion since 1981. Over the years, we have treated thousands of patients and trained many providers.
The Joshi & Merchant practice provides comprehensive psychiatric services, including diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and when required, referrals to psychotherapy services. We diagnose and treat adult patients (age 18+) who come to us with any of the conditions described below. Know that we are here to assist and support you so that you can live your life as fully as possible.
Note: Prior to scheduling an appointment, please ensure that our practice participates with your insurance. The practice expects patients to call if you are unable to arrive on time. In the event that you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, we require a 24-hour notification of your cancellations and/or need to reschedule.

They got me in the very next day for my initial appointment when I called. They've also squeezed me in for a same-day appointment. I would recommend this place to friends and family. I see Zana. She is amazing! She listens, and she also knows I have a hard time explaining exactly how I feel because I'm so used to "dealing" with it and can get a straight answer out of me. A friend recommended this clinic to me.

Great office with friendly front desk folks, and super providers! People need to remember 1) from experience, working the front desk in a medical office entails more than welcoming patients - insurance, patient information, answering phones, and using communication skills to deal with impatient, grouchy patients who won't be happy no matter what; and 2) the providers are professionals there to help you, not to be your warm and fuzzy friend. Just like everyone, people have good and bad days. Some just handle it with more grace. Thank you Dr. Joshi and Andrea!

My doctor abandoned me when I needed him most. I had no idea that he just wanted to write scripts. I asked for assistance with an ADA form for my work. He didn't even ask me what was going on. Anyone who has anxiety and depression will know what I mean when I say this took me down a rabbit hole. I've still not recovered. So now I'm being discriminated against at work for having a denied ADA with no doctor to provide what I might need. My boss told me to find another job after 18 years of high performance. Doc should have recognized my symptoms but he simply didn't care.

Excellent psychiatrist I've recommended Dr. Joshi to other people. He was spot on with the initial medication, quickly adjusted them as needed. I don't mind leaving a message for reschedules or refills. They always call me back the same day. The office staff are professional. I've had one billing error that was resolved while I waited. I don't know where the low reviews are coming from but to each there own.

I've been a patient for about 4 years now. Michelle is nice but the wait times are a joke. It's pretty clear that they overbook yet they're quick to charge you a $75 missed appointment fee if you cancel (even if it's an emergency). I always wait 30-40 mins or more over my actual appointment time. If I didn't like Michelle and it wasn't so hard to find a decent practice closer to me, I would switch.

I've had a great experience at this office thus far! The front office staff is very friendly and my doctor is wonderful. I think it is important to understand that finding a mental health practitioner that both addresses your needs and is someone that you connect with is difficult. Sometimes the search can take years and I am lucky to not have to continue my search. These harsh reviews need to be taken with a grain of salt as all of our experiences are different and subjective.

I see np Betsy. She is sweet and very caring/helpful of my needs. I have had some horrible experiences looking for a new doctor after moving and I'm happy to have found this practice. Wait time has not been an issue (5-10 minutes) and the front desk staff is very nice and professional. Maybe they hired new people or corrected the wrong doings from previous reviews. I did feel a bit rushed on my follow up appointment.initial appointment was great and would like to have more time but I do understand doctors are busy.everyone is busy
