As you can see from the picture at the left, I wasn't destined to become the bodybuilder that my friends and colleagues now make fun of. Rather, back in 1977, on my "Freshman Trip" at Dartmouth College, I could easily have been mistaken for something left by the roadside by careless travelers. At 6'1, I weighed all of 135 pounds wet with those heavy hiking boots on.
I am frequently asked about my personal diet and exercise regime. I'll start by saying that what works for me may not work for you. I have been exercising since I was a kid, so that's when you have to start. I haven't always done the same thing. I started lifting weights with greater enthusiasm when I started medical school, but running and swimming and other cardio-intensive activities took precedence for many years. In my early 30s, I became a "bodybuilder, " but much of the transition involved dietary changes and a decrease in my cardio-oriented lifestyle.
In some patients who present with gynecomastia, there will be an excess of skin in addition to the excess fat and "glandular" tissue of the breast. This is typical after weight loss and in some patients who have very significant breast development. As with all surgery, avoidance of NSAIDS and other items that can cause bleeding for 7 to 10 days pre-op is necessary.

Gynecomastia begone! Years of diligent research led to Dr Silverman. I needed a doctor that: a) I could trust and b) was an expert in this type of surgery. Dr. Silverman is the gold standard of gyno surgeons. He's worked on some of the best in fitness and specializes in gyno surgery. But you wouldn't be able to tell from meeting him. he's incredibly humble, kind, and down to earth, and so are his staff.
He even does philanthropic cleft lip surgery in developing countries! I set up a consult with him through Coco on a day I was visiting from out of town. It was convenient for me and I felt like it was for them too. I knew as soon as I met him that, if I was going to go through with it, he'd be my guy. He was incredibly sympathetic to my situation and explained that I'd be a great candidate for surgery.
A few months later I scheduled it at a very fair price. I live on the west coast but I'm from MA so I flew home the night before surgery. I was the first to go on a Friday morning. He chatted with me before surgery, answered all my questions, and provided comic relief (re: Seinfeld's "The Bro"). By the time I woke up my gyno was gone. I was home by noon.
I had really stressed about recovery but it was nothing but a few pain killers and rest. I flew home on Monday with ease and I only had to wear the surgical vest for a week or two. After that, Spanx for four weeks and I was done. Now those puppies are gone and the scars are virtually invisible. My confidence is back and my life has changed. Throughout the journey, Dr. S and his staff were incredibly responsive to my questions and concerns. I must've emailed them 20+ times. Thank you Dr. Silverman and team!

I am 3 days post op gynecomastia surgery as I write this. I want to say that I AM BEYOND HAPPY WITH MY RESULTS AND IT HAS ONLY BEEN 3 DAYS!. I had my check up this morning and when I saw in the mirror my actual chest back to normal I couldn't believe my eyes! This is gonna sound ridiculous but I wanted to cry lol I still have some swelling on the sides and normal stuff but if it stayed the way it looked this morning I would be 100 percent happy! Dr Silverman then said it will only get better with time! I.
I knew he was the real deal after the consult. Dr. Silverman is highly involved with athletic people who are gym rats. I myself was a high school and college athlete so it was a good fit for me. All I can say is that he changed my life literally. I was very scared to have the surgery worried about being disfigured or complications etc. Dr Silverman exceeded all expectations and it has only been 3 days! I'm telling anyone who is reading this go see this Dr!
This is his specialty and his hands are magical and he takes great pride in his work! Email me I will get pictures sent to you and answer any questions anyone has. My life has been changed as of today and seeing my gyno gone I've always been in good shape but that doesn't hide gyno and nothing will unless you get it removed!
