I had my knee replaced in February 2022. My Surgeon was Dr. Lew. I had the surgery done at Avon Cleveland Clinic. Was never given any pre-instructions prior to the surgery. I felt like I was missing something- I had to keep going to the internet for information. I was asking my sister questions, she had the same procedure. She said to make sure to do you pre-surgery cleansing.
Never heard of it. Call the office- yes you can come and pick it up. Had my teeth cleaned today- dentist said you are supposed to have anti-biotics prior to a teeth cleaning. Never heard of that before. Called my surgeon office. Yes you are supposed to have a dose of anti-biotics prior to dental cleaning. That would have been in your pre-surgical instructions.
I was never given any pre-surgical instruction! Found out about a very important step from my sister. Never given any instructions- never had a Spirometer after surgery. When they say you have to be advocating for yourself they aren't kidding. And today I wonder what else I missed that I should have done. Very poor. Three months out, still some pain, but that is to be expected. (that's what my sister says).

The doctors and nurse in this place, amazing! Front desk?! Not so much! Super rude & always with an attitude. Today i missed my appointment by like 15 mins and the lady called me with an attitude immediately so i gave An attitude back and asked her what is it with everyone in this place always having an attitude!? Because since my first visit i have experienced attitudes with the front desk and have witness attitudes being given to others!
I can 100% agree that i was not my nicest to her after her attitude but enough is enough. Management is okay with there staff having attitudes with patients but once a patient has an attitude back now they deny your treatment which is fine i know i could've have been nicer but after so many people getting a attitude with you, you just have to put a stop to it because it isn't fair.
If you want to have an attitude with people, you have to learn how to handle one back because not everyone in this world will be nice and take your attitudes and rudeness all the time. It's not fair to treat patients that way. Front desk & over the phone people NEED to learn some manners and need to learn to drop the attitude!

My husband Mike, had a right total knee by Dr. Templeton on 3/3/22. Our entire experience with Dr. Templeton and everyone that we have come in contact with has been unbelievably superb. Dr. Templeton's surgical finesse, his professional and calming manner, are exemplary, and his support staff are out of this world! Such empathy, unsolicited reassurance, and kindness are exactly what every patient needs and deserves going through this major surgery.
We never feel rushed and there is a strong emphasis on assuring that we are comfortable, and can follow through with the ever changing plan of care. A special "shout out" to the Avon office, and JoLynn, Allison, and Melissa!

Not sure why the bad reviews as this place and Dr Roberts gave me life changing results. Bottom line is Dr Roberts performed a spinal fusion on me and the results have been 100% successful. My quality of life has improved without question. No more pain or numbness down my right arm. The Dr and his team (especially Brittany) have been incredibly helpful and professional during my recovery.
I have had to deal with the awful company Sedgwick with my short term while my time off work and Dr Roberts staff has really been helpful and sent repeated follow ups to ensure everything goes smoothly. Anyone who has ever had to deal with Sedgwick knows how awful they are but this office has been nothing but fantastic in working with me. The treatment and PT have been tremendous. Before you judge based on reviews.some of these reviews are faceless w five reviews or less. I cannot thank this office and their staff enough

Dr Mandel is amazing and so is the rest of the staff here. Everyone is so friendly and makes you feel right at ease. Dr Mandel runs on time, which I really appreciate. And you don't feel rushed when he's with you. He takes the time to listen to your concerns, and is smart with his treatment plans. I ended up needing knee surgery and it all went great! Even by the day after surgery I was already feeling better.

My wife is a patient for a knee replacement and had surgery 1 week ago today. Today is the day before Thanksgiving. She was running low on pain meds and and called to get refill. The reception staff was unhelpful, uncaring and unsympathetic. Because the office shut down over 1/2 a day early and my wife called at 1pm they had to check with other dr's in their group and MAYBE could accommodate my wife's request.
Now she has to have someone drive her to their office on the other side of town to pick up a prescription and miss a scheduled PT appt which is critical at this stage in the recovery. These dr's have all the resources to see if a person is a drug seeker (OARRS System) and could have verified easily and called in a refill for this prescription to our local pharmacy, but NO, she has to get packed into a car and drive for 1/2 hour each way to pick it up in person. This is not the kind of service that should be provided for the money we'll be paying for this procedure. Do better!

Dr. Mandel is an excellent surgeon, forthright and pleasant. I highly recommend him. The staff is is great and helpful. I have been having serious issue since I had ACL reconstruction by another (unnamed) surgeon 3 years prior due to a workplace accident. I knew something was wrong but I'm not a doctor and I figured it was just excess scar tissue.
Unfortunately it was much more than that and Dr. Mandel did an excellent job. My knee is 2/3 the size it was before the surgery and that is with post-op swelling! I am still very sore 2-1/2 weeks out but from the extent of the procedure that is expected. I am happy God led me to him. Since it is a work injury I hope Dr. Mandel can provide me the detailed documentation I need. For now I will give 4 stars but if he can help with that I will return to add another star (though I would prefer to give 6 more) for the overall experience.

Awesome care from my team! Thanks a ton to Melissa Wallace, Pablo Cabezon and Michelle Bonk for helping me with my lower back pain that was keeping me from having a fun summer. Service was quick and everyone was extremely professional and nice. Any questions I had were answered with knowledgeable responses and I would highly reccomend others to see my team! Thank you!

If there is zero star I will give them. They wanted to do surgery for my daughter for a very simple injury. We told the doctor that we are not willing to go with the surgery option and will use a splint instead. Two days later we received a call from the office that our surgery is scheduled in a later date. Later I received a bill from them for three services, I called the office and the lady explained one of them as a charge for (how to use and clean the splint). I am glad that they did not charge me for greating me twice when I came and when I left. Never going to them again!

I had ACL surgery in March of 21. I was a college athlete, currently a firefighter paramedic and a baseball coach. When I first sat down with Dr. Mandel he assured me of the quality of rehab at OA. First, I am so thankful of how fast I was able to get surgery from the first time I walked through the door. I think 8 total days. And the care I received after was top notch.
I have done PT for a few sports injuries in the past and have never been impressed with the cookie cutter stick to the same sheet of paper for each injury that walked through the door. It was exciting to sit dow the Dr. Hughes and go through my plan and see how quickly my recovery would be. After about 2-3 months my recovery came to a halt due to long on going back issues from my military service that have been over looked and neglected for years.
I am so unbelievably thankful for the pta that has gone above and beyond helping ALL issues going on that will ultimately improve my daily lifestyle. She helped treat issues long over due and made a plan very specific to ME not just another ACL to walk through the door. Mrs. Tucker has shown a great passion in helping her patients and I am truly great full.
At my fire department we have had a string of knee injuries and ALL of them have been recommended and had surgery with OA, I have also recommended my youth athletes that are recovering or just need some added strength to help them all based on the care I received by the Dr's and Ms. Tucker. Thank you for all the help!

Long but very honest review. Definitely would recommend looking elsewhere if at all possible. I worked with Dr. Shaia for spinal issues and he was just alright. He's friendly and by no means unprofessional, but everything is EXTREMELY rushed with him; to the point where I couldn't even remember half of the issues that I wanted to discuss, not that I'd have the chance to even if I did.
Another issue that I have is each time that I saw him, it was as though it was my first visit. He doesn't remember a lot of the things you discuss in past visits, important things that should probably be documented. His secretary, Jessica, is absolutely AWFUL. She is extremely rude and not helpful whatsoever. You can tell she's bothered to even have to speak with you.
I have never experienced a more unprofessional and unpleasant secretary in my life. It was so bad that I did everything in my power to not have to speak with her because she was so off-putting. If I had spoken to her to begin with, I would have never chose to come to OAI in the first place. The billing department is also miserable when speaking on the phone.
I had a lot of spinal procedures done here, and attempted to work out a monthly payment plan; the woman on the phone was very snarky and not friendly at all. I've also overheard the way that the front desk staff speak with the elderly patients, and it actually heartbreaking to witness. Overall not the best experience, and I probably will not be returning.
You go here to get better because you're most likely already suffering from whatever you're seeking help for; you don't need to be more miserable from how awful you are treated in the process. It's beyond sad. Strongly suggest to go elsewhere.

I have graduated from physical therapy with my shoulder 100%. From Dr. Mandel and his staff to the excellent therapists that worked with me, I want to thank each of you. I have and will continue to wave the flag of Orthopedic Associates to all of my family, friends and co-workers. I cannot believe that better care is given anywhere. Thank you

If I could give Orthopedic Associates zero stars, I would. BEWARE OF DR. LEW. I saw Dr. Lew back in February for an injury that I had sustained to my foot. Dr. Lew made me wait 45 minutes to be seen and only saw me for 5 minutes. His assessment was that my ankle was "really messed up" (his words verbatim) and that I needed PT that was going to be "really hard." What Dr. Lew failed to notice in his 5 minute exam of my foot was that my anterior tibial tendon was completely lacerated and non-existent when I lifted my foot up.
Due to the fact that he and his nurse (who was very rude) ignored me and sent me to PT instead of going to get an MRI, by the time I got to a competent orthopedic doctor (who noticed the tendon wasn't functioning properly immediately) the tendon was 4 cm apart. This meant that instead of just fixing the tendon, I had to have a donor tendon inserted.
What I experienced as a patient of Dr. Lew was nothing short of complete incompetence and gross negligence, bordering on malpractice. I blame him and his nurse for the fact that I had to have a more invasive surgery than would have been necessary had Dr. Lew examined me properly and not sent me to PT, which worsened the injury. Had I not sought out a second opinion, I would still be walking on a lacerated tendon. I would warn anyone against using this office and I especially caution you against seeing Dr. Lew.

The physicians are top notch. Nurses are wonderful. Front desk? Not so much. After telling the receptionist on my way out that the doctor wanted me back in 3 weeks. She asked what time of day I preferred, which I told her. I also told her any day was fine. She filled out my receipt and my appointment was written on my receipt and I put it in my purse.
The next day, I noticed that she had scheduled me for follow up in five weeks. When I called to change it to three weeks, they were unable to secure me an appointment. The earliest they could get me in was four weeks. Doesn't seem like a problem on the surface, however, when one is wearing a cast, one week does make a difference. Just saying this is a former medical professional. I know you're busy in the front desk, please pay attention to your patients.

Had a knee injury that resulted in surgery with Dr Mandel. Having had 2 arthroscopies on my other knee, I knew what to expect. Dr Mandel was very professional and thorough and certainly would put a novice at ease. He answered all my questions and I never felt rushed. My surgery was uneventful with a very easy recovery. Thank you Dr Mandel for your expertise. I highly recommend him.

I had a nasty sprained ankle and was referred to Orthopedic Associations by the hospital I went to. They got me in quickly which was nice and the nurse was great but the doctor was less than helpful. The reason for this review however is because of my payments. I have been making monthly on-time payments since then (and during the pandemic). This past week I got a letter saying they had sent me to collections.
I was very confused as I have been making full monthly payments on time. When I called the collections agency they said sometimes businesses do this when they want the full amount and no longer want to continue monthly payments. Orthopedic Associations did not reach out to me to let me know they were sending me to collections - they just did it! I will absolutely never return and I would advise others to seek help elsewhere unless you can pay the full amount up front.

If I could give "0" stars, I would. I was able to get an appointment quickly enough, but had a doctor walk in and out of the room in less than two minutes and did not answer any of the questions I had. The staff was not friendly, and at times were downright rude. I would not recommend this business to anyone.

I'm very pleased with the doctors and staff here! I could get an appointment quickly too. And while it's great to have everything under one roof, I recommend that you price check braces (ankle, wrist, knee, etc) before buying it from them. I paid $75 for an ankle brace, but I checked online when I got home and the same one, same brand, is available for $20 from several merchants. This is why I gave them 4 stars, not 5.
