I can't say enough about this place. I went there for chronic stomach pain. They were so fast and efficient. ordering necessary testing and blood work and the staff in the ER WAS AMAZING! I skipped my home town of los ALAMITOS ER to come to Whittier for this reason! Thank you to the staff at this hospital and for the director there. what an amazing experience for an emergency room visit.

This hospital has THE BEST STAFF! I want to thank the young man who is a neurosurgeon (who's name I don't remember, but you know who you are.so brilliant!), Dr. Goel, Bianca (B), Robert and Kimberly! My Mom, Beverly Owens was in their care for 9 days and my family and I are so grateful for each and every one of you! Thank you again! Cheryl Turner Crystal Hale Beverly Owens

Checked myself in here due to being actively suicidal. Overheard nurses complaining about me "being rude" or something along those lines. Literally can't think of anything I did or said that would warrant that other than being sort of reluctant to take a blood test (I have a fear of needles). Told them my mother died in a hit-and-run and that I wanted to end my life, but so sorry that you guys felt I wasn't treating YOU right!
Imagine being that self-centered and also being a hospital nurse. What a joke. Was also placed in a room in front of very busy hallway with dozens of people passing by and looking in every minute, and given a giant cup to pee in. When the nurse came back, she acted surprised that I hadn't gone yet. "Oh, did you want me to close the curtain?" she asked me, sounding kind of annoyed.
She then basically said that I was making the process longer because I hadn't gone yet. Crazy that somebody wouldn't want to urinate in front of dozens of people walking by and peering inside my room, huh? I will say the nurse with dreads I saw during my check-in was very sweet and seemed to be the only one to have any real empathy. Wish she could have been my nurse for the whole visit.

I Cannot say enough good things about this hospital their staff is courteous I saw Dr. Kary Hile, on Thursday night after going to Beverly Hospital in the city I live in and the wait was 3+ hours I was in and out of Whittier Hospital with a broken radius on my arm in less than two hours with x-rays and giving me a copy to take with me. They are so personable so nice so accommodating I can't say enough about this hospital if you've never gone there you should make an appoint as much as we hate hospitals I can honestly say this one I love thank you Teri Miller

Recently admitted to this hospital to follow up on an medical emergency. the E.R was very busy but were able to attend to my medical attention. was then transferred to the Medical Surgery department were staff nursing were very nice with compassion to it's patients. this hospital is very well kept & maintained. had no issues with the medical care they provided for me. meals were decent & provided snacks when requested. overall a good hospital that meets medical needs for it's patients and medical staff and nursing very professional with great attitudes. recommend this hospital for any medical care needed.

Worse experience ever when I had my baby. They fractured my newborn leg so he has to wear a cast and didn't hold correctly another baby either. Not going to that hospital ever again. Bad service. Only 1 nurse was nice. I HOPE THEY CLOSE DOWN THIS HOSPITAL.I wanted to add something else. This hospital didn't put my baby with me right after he was born. I had him after the 2 hours. That is not fair. I regret going into labor at that hospital. I should of stayed at the general hospital in LA/Boyle heights.

The staff are generally nice, but some of them could use more training. We came here due to my dad experiencing a fall, which twisted his tooth inwards, as well as the complications that led to the fall (being unable to walk). The nurse poked him for 20-25 minutes attempting to find a vein to draw blood before my mom asked them to give him a break.
Another nurse came in later and was able to draw blood immediately. The doctor attempted to give him a tooth surgery, but was unprepared (he kept asking staff to go back and get more supplies he realized he needed) and, after having 3 people hold my dad down to give him anesthesia with 2 needles, stated that he could not do the surgery and that only an oral surgeon could do it. We're not sure what his name was because he did not introduce himself.
They then attempted to transfer him to another hospital with an oral surgeon on staff, then called us at 3am in the morning to say that he was going to be discharged and did not need to be transferred, and wanted us to go get him now. I explained that my dad's state could place himself or us in danger re: safety, but they said he needed to go home.
Once my mom went to pick him up and ask for recommendations, the nurse on shift told her, "I don't know anything, I just got here, " and kept asking her to sign him to be discharged without reading the hand-off notes. Eventually, my mom made enough of a fuss that a manager of some type came. She reviewed the information with my mom, including that they had requested meds from a nearby pharmacy and they had given my dad stitches.
My mom corrected the woman, saying that the doctor had not given my dad stitches, and had no idea the medications had been requested at a pharmacy different than the one we usually use. No recommendations were given other than medications, despite my dad being unable to walk. The information on the discharge paperwork was also inaccurate. It stated that my dad's strength was "5/5" for bilateral upper and lower extremities, which is untrue, and made no mention of the other factors I had written on the intake paperwork or informed the nurse of previously.
In conclusion, I would not highly recommend this hospital, but am grateful that the receptionists and nurses were generally nice. They also did let my mom in to translate for my dad, which I'm thankful for, and it is a good thing that she was able to catch some of the deficiencies in their work so that we'd know what was being done to my dad.

With Covid regulations, things are tough. My uncle was sent to the hospital with his cancer conditions worsening. He was only allowed one vaccinated visitor per day. So between his son and wife, they would have to take turns visiting him. And once a visitor leaves for the day, you have to wait until the following day to visit. I never got the chance to see him, and things took a turn for the worse.
He is now on his end of life. He is unconscious, and I was notified multiple people can now see him. I came with my family today to see my uncle, so we could talk to him and say our goodbyes. When I arrived, they told me that only 2 people were allowed to see him at a time, and no one under the age of 16 could see him. No exceptions. We tried to wait in the lobby while the visitors left, but they kicked us out and said we had to wait outside, despite having an infant with us.
Very disappointed in the rules and regulations in this hospital. If I am ever rushed to the ER and happen to be in Whittier, I will refuse to come here. If you have the option, I would recommend not being stationed or serviced at this hospital. There are so many negative reviews about this hospital. Update: 1-2 hours after posting this review my uncle passed away. This hospital denied me the opportunity to see my uncle one last time, and I will always despise them for that.

I left a 1 star review this morning. Someone from Whittier hospital reached out to me to clarify some things. It was a different medical office that messed up and allowed me to think I was speaking to someone from Whitter hospital. Pretty shady. I'll have to desl witj them now. Thank you. Note: Couldn't find the delete button. So all I could do is change the stars and edit this review.

My experience was 12 years ago, but the daytime postpartum nurses were mocking me in the lounge based on my religious preferences (I am Muslim, they were mimicking our Islamic greetings and the fact that my mother covers her hair) This was as I was leaving, AFTER I had already met with the patient rights advocate, who seemed to busy to care to write up anything relavant about my stay. Seeing newer reviews shows they haven't changed much. I don't recommend this hospital at all.

On October 20/21 I was admitted in ER, for an Atrial Fibrillation, service was accurate, staff was very helpful including Metrology plus ICU nurses were compassionate and responsive, Dr. Patel and Dr. Morado very cooperative, so in general, I do appreciate the care and effort presented during my stay

My dad was tested for COVID, twice a month at Whittier Hills Healthcare, for 8 months straight; Every test was definitively negative. He had a stroke and was rushed to the ICU in this hospital where he ended up passing away. I received my dad's death certificate and it states that he died from COVID-19. There are 4 lines for causes of death on a death certificate.
Line 1: COVID 19 Line 2: (blank) Line 3: (blank) Line 4: (blank) I called this hospital on it and I was ignored. My dad was written off for their COVID agenda. Not only that, this is how I was told my dad had passed: "I'm sorry to inform you that your father has expired." WTH? He wasn't a can of food. This place needs a lesson in ethics and mannerisms. T E R R I B L E! P.S. No need to copy and paste your thoughtless replies that I see on all of your negative reviews.

The ER gets busy at times and it does take a while (sometimes a few hours) before you get seen, but all the nurses on the telemetry floor are super patient, helpful, and nice. They try to help you to the best of their abilities. I've been here twice now, and I can't even count all the nurses that I'm grateful to for helping me take care of my mom, especially since they're understaffed and working in such circumstances- with covid and all.
Sometimes it takes them time to get to you, but a tip to get connected with your nurse in charge is to call them directly on their extension line. The doctors here also address your concerns and will try their best to treat you. PS the receptionists in the ER are stand offish/rude like they don't want to be there, but once you get through them, the nurses in the ER are more patient/attentive.

Horrible horrible horrible please I beg you do not send your loved ones here! Dr Altriki bold faced lied to me after not calling family members to update patient for 3 days! He said my mom told him to NOT call her family. I'm the only one who cares for her and she never said that. The dierector of the hospital told me after I reached out to see if he could make the Dr give me an update, that I should love my mom enough to put it in writing on paper so the Dr has to call. What?!?!
I could go on and on. She went in for pancreas issues and a nurse told me they were then treating her for pulmonary embolism. I was panicked ofcourse and couldn't get an update from this negligent dr. Jeanette the clinical nurse has been the only one to help. Thank god for her. If I could give you all the details you would be shocked. They have 1 star for a reason

I was very disappointed here at my last visit. Me n my family had to get emergency service outside that was there waiting room. My service was all over the place the vending machine weren't even up n running so couldn't get water. Got there at 4pm n my other 2 family members got to go home after being treated. Finally around 10pm n I was admitted into hospital car.
In my room i was left with no way to contact my nurse. She never offered the tv access that was in my room never gave me socks. Took forever to get sum water then when I did it was 1 little cup. Then when I needed help I had to yell her name Emily for about 20 mins which she finally came n told me to not call for her unless I've fallen down or i was in extreme pain.
I was so surprised. Then the doctor came asked me 4 questions left n never spoke or saw me again. The nurse came n told me I was going to get 2 types of antibiotics n for me to just rest. Then I tried to rest but they had a very bright light on the whole time n I woke up to my IV burning so I called for my nurse she never came I ended up crying n screaming for anyone to come n finally a gentleman came n assisted me n gave me comfort adding a bag of saline solution along with my IV drip.
I was relieved. But I wouldn't recommend anyone I cared about to go here. My morning nurse was great but thank got I got shipped 2 white memorial. A horrible experience here.

DO NOT COME HERE! At all! Especially if you have an emergency! The wait is ridiculous! We've been in the waiting room for over 5 hours! Someone thought they are having a heard attack and were told to wait. Another person broke their pelvis and have been waiting hours too! Completely unacceptable! How this place is still open is beyond me!

My family member was transferred from a city hospital ICU. He was placed on a ventilator. For 12 HOURS, NO assessment was done by either the admitting nurse nor by the attending physician nor physician on call. His feeding not started, he got hypoglycemic, no meds nor care given. Is this Whittier Hospital policy in admitting transfers? TOTAL NEGLIGENCE AND NO ACCOUNTABILITY?! Accreditation for Hospitals and Joint Commissions will soon be visiting you.

This is the worst local hospital with rude, unprofessional, overpowering, interrupting, condescending, belittling staff who failed to keep their promises to call. I am treated as an employee or their child and bear the brunt of their frustration. Sara Munoz probably did not pass the message to Rick Castro CEO since no response on him on Friday. The staff yelled at me and also hung up on me.
Most of all, the hospital is listening to a relative without hearing both sides or getting details/evidence. One of the doctors had a fee issue with the Medical Board and the doctors assigned are all foreign. Two years ago had a bad experience and this hospital has not improved for the better.

I had an emergency/unplanned c-section here at the end of January and had a WONDERFUL experience. I went in around 7am to an empty emergency room and I was seen right away. They had tents in the front parking lot which I assume was for those with COVID symptoms but I'm not 100% sure. It's not the nicest hospital and the rooms aren't top notch but the care was worth it. Dr. Vouis delivered our baby boy and our anesthesiologist, Dr. Liao, was incredible.
Our nurse Jamie was sooo kind and sweet, she held me while I got my epidural (which was one of the scariest parts to me). Jamie visited our room every day during our stay although she didn't work in the postpartum section of the hospital. All the other nurses, with the exception of one, were so kind and gentle with us. I buzzed them many times, day and night, and they were always so helpful. Jamie, Theresa, Esther, Dr. Liao, Dr. Vouis, and all the other nurses, we love you guys so much!
