The RTs here at Hermann Area District Hospital are dedicated to improving the lives of our patients. They are highly skilled in many aspects of their field including but not limited to assessing and examining our patients, performing test, and consulting with nurses and doctors for best patient care. These therapist are trained in sleep studies, lung function testing, trained for emergent situation with training in BLS and ACLS.

50 years ago marked the beginning of a new era for our area with the construction of the first District Hospital in the state of Missouri. It all began in 1958 with a small handful of dedicated people with the hopes and determination of having a hospital and all of the healthcare benefits that come with it, available to the people in their small rural communities and surrounding areas.
Hermann Area District Hospital is a 24 bed Critical Access Hospital located in the beautiful town of Hermann, Missouri at 509 W. 18th Street, just over the hill from Stone Hill Winery. We are honored to have been the first district hospital in the state of Missouri due to the efforts of a small group of people in the 1960s who felt the strong need to have a hospital in our rural community. Because of their efforts, we are here today and are fortunate to have saved and aided countless lives throughout the years.
Hermann Area District Hospital offers a variety of healthcare services, including major and minor surgeries, an Emergency Department onsite, a full Clinical Laboratory, Radiology Department, Outpatient Clinic with a variety of specialists, Rehabilitation Department with Physical, Occupational, Speech, and Cardiac Therapies, a Home Health Agency that reaches the Hermann, Montgomery City, and Owensville areas, and a Sleep Studies Lab onsite.

First of all, I would like to state this is in no way aimed at the nursing staff. The nurses were actually pleasant. This is directed to the doctor I had seen there about a year ago through the ER and the billing department. I had went to the ER after a gallbladder attack. I hadn't been able to keep anything down for several days and was severely dehydrated.
I have had gallbladder attacks in the past and know what they feel like. I explained this, they refused to test me for anything other than a UTI. The doctor I was forced to see was one of the rudest medical professionals I have ever seen in my life. I did not ask for pain medication, I asked if they could test my gallbladder and she refused, stating they would give me medication for the uti, and informed me that even if it were an attack, they weren't going to remove it just because I wanted them to.
I asked if I could receive fluids, because I couldn't keep food nor water down, she refused my request, saying I can drink fluids. She had zero bedside manner, everything she said to me was in a rude tone, and she yelled it at me. Doctors make a nice living from providing care to their patients, yet there are some doctors like this one that act as if you are trash beneath their feet.
I will NEVER go back to Herman Hospital again. I work very hard to make a living and for insurance, I refuse to pay someone to treat me poorly. Their billing department is rude as well, and if they tell you they'll call you back by the end of the day, give them like 3 or 4 days to do it. I had to have emergency surgery this past May, I traveled an hour longer just to go to another hospital and avoid dealing with the doctors at Herman Hospital. The longer trip was worth it!

If you are dying DO NOT GO HERE. IT'S NOT WORTH IT. The ER won't do anything for you then sue you for every single penny they think they are owed. DO NOT GO HERE. I tried several times to set up payment arrangements in which billing specifically told me they would NOT do for me. The ER "dr" Klutz had mechanic filthy hands! I thought it was a joke when he entered the room to examine me looking like that! Go to Washington.

Was recently admitted thru the ER. Once again this little hospital took great care of me. Got me better and gave me the information to manage a new found diagnosis. Every nurse was knowledgeable and they all hit every needle stick. I was pretty impressed with the care received at this little country Hospital.

We are new to this area Just letting u know if we had not ask at a gas station for directions we would not have found it A very kind lady offered to take us there NO SIGNS there are 3 signs and after you get on Hwy 100 your on your own. please mark the roads better for those out of your city The care was fantastic very knowledgeable people I got the help I needed I'm very thankful for that. If I had to go back I know I wouldn't find it Thank you for your time

They dont care about their patients. They dont listen to what you have to say. The wont perscribe stuff you need. They just tell you to get "over the counter stuff" that youve already been taking. Dont go here. Oh yeah i just got my bill back & with insurance the charged me 547.00 to check my vitals & test me for strep. I litterally had to go to convenient care in Wentzville the next day to get antibiotics because the Neanderthals that work in Hermann wouldn't do anything for me AT ALL.

THE MOST AMAZING DR. SWAYZE (THIS IS THE 2ND VERY SERIOUS HE HAS FIXED ON ME) & HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD! EVERYONE WAS OUT OF THEIR WAY GREAT TO ME & DEDICATED TO FIX ME, & THEY DID IT WITHOUT SURGERY! I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL FOR EVERYTHING YOU DID FOR ME BUT, "NOTHING YOU DID TO ME!" What I like about Hermann Area District Hospital is everything. We visited the ER because my cousin was feeling light headed. We did not wait long before the doctor check her out so we could get back to our touring of Hermann's wineries, distillery, chocolate and restaurants. The team of doctors, nurses and other professionals was a great experience for my cousin and I. There was private parking on their private parking lot. Thank you for providing great patience care.
