I broke a bone skiing and the ER team here was fantastic. They made a bad day as bearable as possible. Thank you!

I visited the medical center in April 2016. The treatment I received for a knee injury while skiing was fine. There wasn't much they could do for me at the time other than give me a brace and treat the pain. What I didn't realize is that the pain had just started. I paid my copay. Several weeks later when I received the rest of the bill I noted what my insurance company covered and I paid the rest, $254.

A few weeks after that I received another bill for the same amount. I called the office and told them it had been paid. The woman from billing said she needed proof from my insurance company. I went through that process, got the info she requested and sent it to them. Several weeks later I received another bill for the same amount, $254. I called and explained that between Blue Cross and myself it had been paid in full.

The woman from billing said "they lie all the time." Several weeks later I received a notice from a collection agency. Now, 6 years later I received 2 notices from the collection agency for $254 and a second for the original $362 that had been paid. If you get hurt in Telluride you have to go here. If you do, keep detailed documentation of your billing because they are untrustworthy in that regard.

Bravo! I am in telluride on a skiing trip from Virginia, and last night went into sudden onset atrial fibrillation with mild chest pains. I came to this clinic as soon as it opened this morning and they got me right in, even though they were clearly busy. They worked efficiently and kept me updated as they ran tests, explained what was going on, what my options were and what the risks of those options were as well.

I agreed to let them sedate me and give my heart a jolt, and when I woke up, my heart was beating normally and my chest pressure was gone. As a precaution they sent me to Montrose via ambulance for follow-up, and that was a good experience as well. I'm happy to be alive and grateful to these competent professionals for the fact that I am! Thank you Dr. Dan and team!

Not sure why all the bad reviews are about. Maybe it's because people are quick heap complaints rather than praise. These people are great, attentive, and caring. Thanks again to the whole team at Telluride Regional!

This is the worst medical center I have ever dealt with. The director of the medical center doesn't know how to do her job properly. My girlfriend call their to get a medical note to go back to work because she doesn't have covid and the director told her this isn't a testing site and I can't help you! Extremely rude very unprofessional!

Shameful and shameless billing practices. Do not go to this place unless you have a true medical emergency. They first tell you that they accept your medical insurance but then bill you as out of network and add exorbitant fees as if you were admitted to the ER in a big hospital, for giving you a pain killer and taking your temperature. The billing lady (Pam McCreedy / AKA Pamela McGreedy) and the business manager are total crooks! As another reviewer correctly described, deceptive and deceitful billing practices. Shame on you!

My family and I have been patients at the Telluride Medical Center for close to two decades, and they've always been absolutely wonderful - we're incredibly grateful to them. Most recently I had a skiing accident and the whole team was just incredible. Then my husband threw his back out, and again they were amazing - we love everyone there and their care, compassion and expertise.

My husband took a spill on his mountain bike and needed stitches. We got in and out quickly and everyone was great; friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I'm so, so thankful this place was in town because we would have had to drive 1.5 hours or more with three kids, which would have been a nightmare.

Called at 2:00am with some high altitude related issues. Gordan the on call nurse was there in 5 mins to open the ER door and the attending DR, was there in 10 mins to see me. Totally impressed with Gordon and the Dr's smiles after I woke them up to deal with me for what ended up being a non issue. Amazing turn around time on my blood work. Overall a 10 rated experience at the facility. Thank you guys!

Called and asked for a covid test. Was told I had to wait a week to get one so when I said that it was unacceptable to only be open for covid testing 2 days a week I was told that it wasn't the medical centers problem and was hung up on. Just goes to show having a 9-5, five days a week for a job is more important than everyone's well being during a pandemic. This is not a fake review I have the call recorded if anyone wants to listen

This is an excellent Medical Center. Needed services quickly and they fit me in during a very busy time. The receptionist who checked me in was so kind. They put me with Laura, the physicians assistant and she was amazing! She listened to my symptoms with such care and went forward with treatment. The team they had working that day was so professional and truly put me at ease!

Thank you to everyone for helping me to get better! Your advice and treatment helped me to get through what was going on! Wishing everyone at The Medical Center a Very Happy New Year in 2020!

I saw Elena Collins for a year and she really didn't know what she was doing a lot of the time. I should have known better than to choose to see her after my mother switched from her to Dr Grundy and my husband switched from her to Eric Johnson, both of which helped them immensely. She's very sweet and probably great if your just sick, but any ongoing or more complicated medical conditions, definitely ask to see another person.

She seems almost afraid to works with multiple prescriptions and she got mine, which never change, mixed up a lot. I had to keep calling bc of these mistakes. Just a pain and I didn't feel safe and comfortable with that situation. Plus the nurse, Heidi, is so rude, she actually told me to quit talking as I was politely explaining what was going on with me. This, unfortunately, is a very true story.

Just spent a weekend in Telluride and unfortunately had a bout of High Altitude Pulmonary Edema. The team at Telluride medical center, specifically Dr. Koelliker, Rebecca, Margaret, and John were phenomenal. They were professional but kind. They made the diagnosis quickly and though the condition is serious, they reassured me that I would be OK. With the treatment they provided, I felt much better quickly.

They got me set up to manage the problem for the rest of the trip and even counseled me for future travel to high altitude. I have only thanks and high praise for this group of professionals.

My friend came to Telluride Medical Center for urgent care, but the facility was not properly equipped for basic diagnostic services and did very little to help except to send to a hospital in Montrose, but that's not the worst. They fraudulently billed even though my friend had insurance, failing to bill what should have been covered 100%. When eventually discovered by a credit report and collection, the billing person for Telluride (Pam McCreedy) was rude, hostile and reckless. The administration for this hospital doesn't care and should go to prison for harming lives instead of saving them.

For not having the space for ER services, the Telluride Medical Center cares for as many patients as they are able with thoughtfulness, sensitivity and urgency. I've been in for a 3-day migraine, stitches and routine check-ups while accompanying many others with broken bones, torn ligaments, and other ski-town standard injuries - the staff is wonderful every time.

The facility itself was clean and bright, and the handful of people we interacted with throughout the process of intake, examination, x-rays, & setting an arm splint were all cheerful and pleasant. Overall, they made what was a stressful situation a little bit easier. There are even lockers outside the emergency door for storing all the ski gear we had no time to take off before getting in the van for the ride down the mountain. Seeing as this facility is pretty much the only show in town, it's reassuring to know that such a good team is in place when there's a mishap on the mountain.

Zero stars if it was possible. The billing department and management pursue deceptive billing practices and threaten with collection in order to extort patients to pay for their unconscionable fees. They have set up their billing system to charge out-of-network fees even though they accept your insurance card. First they tell you they accept the insurance, as if they are in network, and then after providing a 5 minute check up hit you with a $450 bill. Very unprofessional. Telluride may be an expensive place to provide care, but it does not justify taking in patients based on false pretenses. Very disappointing.

Horrible experience with billing at this facility. Upon entry they accepted our insurance card, but later said they are not in-network and billed us $500 for a 10 minute visit to check our kid's temperature. This is in addition to having billed and received over $200 from our insurance. The billing lady is a Nazi, uncompassionate, belligerent and self-centered. This is a medical facility that takes advantage of people in need of care in the worst way.

Minimal wait! Very professional! No extra testing! Just the facts and great treatment. Much relief while I was still able to ski in the great powder!

I had a good experience here when I came down with a terrible sore throat while visiting Telluride. I was told that it is much more reasonable if you make an appointment (rather than walk in) so I did and my insurance covered the visit. Emily (nurse) and Kent Gaylord (doctor) took great care of me - checked oxygen, BP, temperature, all the normal stuff plus a strep test. I would recommend.

Thanks to the staff at the center yesterday. Our 5 yo needed stitches and the team did a great job keeping him positive and keeping us informed.

I hurt my knee in December and visited the med center. The visit itself was pleasant enough; they referred me to a physical therapist in town and gave me a knee brace. I received a bill a few weeks later for my copay and paid it. End of story, or so I thought. A few weeks ago, two months after the visit, I received another bill for 246 dollars. I assumed this was for my physical therapy and paid it, only to find out afterwards that it was actually for my KNEE BRACE.

The woman in billing that I spoke with was extremely rude and condescending and seemed to think I was an idiot for being shocked at having to pay 246 for a knee brace. This was not disclosed to me when they gave it to me during my visit. I could have easily borrowed a knee brace or gotten one for much cheaper from the community. I feel like their lack of disclosure about the knee brace was extremely deceptive and unprofessional and I did not appreciate the way I was treated when I called about it.

On my way to Ridgeway, Co. Riding a motorcycle May 22, 2014. Hit a deer and was taken to Telluride Medical Center. Fortunately, I wasn't hurt other than a fractured wrist and some scrapes. I found the staff very professional and thorough with my exam and treatment. Dr. Heir, the ER nurse, x-Ray and billing were all GREAT! I have worked in the medical professional all my life, as a Register Nurse and as a CRNA, and I find this clinic right up there with the best. Thanks to all for your care and help you gave me, it was greatly appreciated!

We have been visiting Telluride for several years, and have had a number of occasions to visit the medical center and the ER. We have been very pleased with the care provided here. On one occasion I had fainted on the hill and after talking on the phone with my home doctor, I made an appointment for an evaluation. The doctor and x-ray technician were very thorough and helpful--they sent the results to Grand Junction for reading and had results for me early the next day, along with a DVD with all of the test images and results.

My husband had atrial fibrulation kick in on another occasion, and he was treated on a Sat. night in the ER, with the doctor and a nurse giving him wonderful care. We sometimes kid that we wish we could get this kind of medical care at home! We are so happy to have this excellent level of professional care available to us while in Telluride.

Even after being in town for 2 weeks, I'm still having some issues with the high elevation in Telluride. I wanted to see Dr. Hackett, the head of the high altitude medical institute at the Telluride Medical Center, but he is away at a conference in Europe. So I opted to visit one of the other docs on staff instead. Dr. Kent Gaylord's assistant tested my blood oxygen level, took a brief history, and then I saw the doctor.

He was extremely friendly and kind. It turned out that my oxygen level was 95%, which is normal, so I am obviously acclimating quite well, despite still feeling fatigued sometimes. He gave me a prescription for a medication that might help a bit, recited the usual high elevation rules (hydrate frequently, moderate alcohol intake, etc.), and agreed that renting an oxygen concentrator machine might be a good idea.

I left feeling that my concerns had been dealt with in a competent, friendly way. Everyone I dealt with, from the receptionist to the medical assistant to the doctor, were professional, kind and welcoming. A few years ago I had to go to the ER there after a fall on the ice, hurting my wrist. Again, I received excellent care from all involved.

On the 3rd day of my 3d/3n ski vacation at Telluride, I hurt my left knee badly and had to be transported by the very competent ski patrols to the Telluride Medical Center. Once I was there, I opted not to receive any er service since we were on our way back to Phx that day. the staff was very courteous, nice, and professional. They were not annoyed at all that I had changed my mind.

They gave me an ice pack for my knee and wheeled me in a wheel chair to the waiting room area. The waiting room area was well lit by sunlight and very clean and orderly. I was there for quite a few hours while I waited for my friend to return my ski equipment and to bring back a knee brace for me. The receptionist was very nice and caring. She brought me magazines, asked how I was doing periodically and even brought out a cup of steaming hot tea for me to drink!

The receptionish even took the time to tell me about the town history of Telluride, how she ended up living there and her love for the town and its residents. I was there for probably 3 hours and the whole time I felt very cared for and welcomed, mainly thanks to the receptionist. There is a saying that the receptionist bears the face of the company and in this case, I feel that while I did not receive direct medical care from the medical center, I left feeling cared for because of the wonderful, caring touch of the receptionist and even though I ended my vacation with an injury, I left feeling happy and touched by someone who would take the time to bring me a cup of tea to quinch my thirst in this busy world and this left me with an excellent impression of Telluride Medical Center.

I did not get the chance to say thank you to her since when my friend and I were ready to leave, a snowboard injury came in and she became quite busy. But I hope that she gets a chance to read this review to know how much I appreciated her simple kindnesses.
