You may be developing cataracts if your vision becomes cloudy, you lose color perception, or you have trouble reading. This condition occurs when the natural lens begins to cloud with age. Besides our surgical expertise, we commit to providing a close and honest patient-doctor relationship with courteous and respectful service.

Wonderful experience with my cataract surgery. The only negative is that it is extremely busy and there was a long wait time. I was told to arrive at 11:15 and expect to go home at 1:15. I didn't get to the operating room until 2:00. Once there however, the process was fantastic and precise. I would highly recommend The Center For Sight Dr Joaquin De Rojas MD.

My mother had cataract surgery. I'm a nurse and we relocated from the Chicago suburbs, I knew who to go to back there. I was very happy with the care my mother received and quite frankly, don't think she had any less of an experience than she would have had back in Chicago. Dr. Hamilton and his team were skilled in identifying my mother's acute angle glaucoma.
The office staff was nothing but professional with scheduling her appointments. Dr Mathews knowledge and skill is very apparent. She oozes confidence and compassion. The perfect combination for any doctor. The surgical team was great. The intake technician helped to alleviate my mom's anxiety. Kerry, the preop nurse, again was confident and compassionate.
She was able to get my mom's IV with just one stick. Her last surgery required 4 and the use of ultrasound. Mark, the CRNA was so kind and VERY skilled. His block was spot on. My mom didn't feel a thing. My mom was scared to death going in. She is not worried at all going back for the second eye. Kudos to the entire staff. As a side note, there was one issue, her glasses broke while we were there. They owned it and took care of the issue, so how can you be mad? Accidents do happen. I would recommend them highly. Don't hesitate to come here.

I would highly recommend Center for Sight to any of my friends and family!

Previously, I had cataract surgery one my right eye performed by a different doctor at another clinic. That experience caused me to be extremely hesitant to have the procedure on my left eye. 4 years later, I could not put off the necessary procedure any longer. Dr. Shoemaker and his entire team exceeded my expectations. The technology he used was more advanced than the previous physician, and his staff was caring and professional. I would highly recommend doctor Shoemaker and his entire team!

Wonderful place. Friendly staff from check in to check out. Very thorough exam. I had my first cataract surgery done by Dr Shoemaker 2 years ago and it was a huge success. Hoping for the same outcome next week when I have my other eye fixed. Update:. Had my left eye cataract surgery yesterday, success! This time I choose to have a block (numbing of the eye nerves) what a fantastic experience.
No pressure, no bright light, was finished in a few minutes. Dr. Shoemaker and his team are the absolute best. The CRNA and nurses explained everything to my understanding and answered all my questions. I highly recommend Center for Sight for cataract surgery. If I would ever need any other surgeries or have any more issues with my eyes I will definitely go back to Center for Sight.

From the receptionist to the surgeon everyone was very courteous, kind and professional. The entire system runs efficiently and confidently. We felt we were being cared for the every step of the way. And were kept very well informed. BUT most importantly, they heard what we had to say and listened to us. We would highly recommend the Center for Sight.

The procedures were clearly explained to me and my difficulty in keeping my eyes open was met with compassion and professional courtesy. The equipment was state of the art. Dr Banker explained my current condition and made recommendations. I have had this procedure done elsewhere in FL and was not happy. I was very happy with my exam here and impressed by the staff and doctor.

Best place to come for any eye sight issues. They cared for my Grandmother when she had a cataract, and are now helping my Mom with the same. The only complaint I have is they are always late. My Mom can not drive at night, so I have to bring her just in case it is dark by the time her appointment is over.

I was honestly shocked at the assembly line process to their surgical area. I was asked to arrive earlier than originally scheduled & then was made to wait three hours before making it to the pre-op area where each bed was less than 3 feet apart - yes, even during covid. The nurse that inserted the IV did a horrible job & when it came time to push the anesthesia, the pain was enough to make me pass out without the medication's aid. Unfortunately, the follow-up appt was even worse.
I was told that the stitches (eyelid surgery) would be removed between 7-10 days. Since my appt was on day 7, I thought that it was to check to see if the stitches should be removed at that earlier date. However, before the doctor even bothered to check on me the stitches were removed. The dr barely spent a minute checking on my eyes & walked out with barely a word.
The next morning I noticed that the surgical incisions had split open & contacted the dr's office. I was told to come in for them to have a look that afternoon. Since I could could not tell them exactly when the incision areas split open (both eyes), they said that there was nothing that could be done if it was over the 24 hour mark. It's well over 2 months later & I have NEVER received a follow-up call to check to see how I was healing. I'm sure that's because they already know the answer to that: continued numbness in both eyelids & horrible scarring from botched post-op care.
I had a few friends that were considering this office for this type of procedure. They are consulting with other more competent offices that will show more consideration & care for them as patients.

Called to setup an appointment, the lady on the phone was incredibly sarcastic. Who answers the phone and says "how can I help you?" "Thank you for calling Center of Sight, how can I assist you with the best care, today?" Also, don't just cold transfer or throw someone on hold without delivering an expectation. For example, "I'm glad you would like to make an appointment, do you mind holding for three minutes.
If no one answers, you can leave a voice-mail and we will get back to you by the end of the day". Step it up, you're in a saturated market. Show how you care so you can get positive referrals. Funny thing is I was told you guys were kinda rude, and figured I shouldn't be biased and try making a nearby appointment. Yeah, they were right.

While the doctors are great, the support staff is terrible. Trying to make appointments or trying to refill eye medication is non existent. You are always sent to a voicemail and prompted to leave a message but they never call back. I'm then forced to show in person to get anything done. This is a result of poor office management and a replacement should be in order.

As of 12/16/21 Center for Sight has made no attempt at rectifying the damage they did to my right eye or to apologize for the poor service form Dr. Hunt. When we Veterans and non-veterans experience poor service from the medical community, it needs to be exposed so they change their attitudes and get retrained in customer service otherwise, poor reviews will continue to pile up. If you appreciate my honesty and posting of poor medical service providers, please give a thumbs up as it will help others not go through what I have gone through.

The Cataract surgery I had yesterday was nothing short of amazing. I can see. All this time I thought the pavers around the pool were brown. They're nearly white. I no longer have to turn every light on to see. It's amazing the difference. Pricey indeed. Worth every penny. Next eye next Wednesday. I can't wait.

I have never experienced the personal, professional treatment that I received at The Center For Sight. This is a large practice with a wide variety of specialists, yet I never felt rushed, ignored or taken for granted by anyone from the person checking me in to the person walking me to my ride. The staff at every level was completely professional and so friendly and welcoming like you seldom ever see. The doctors, of course, are top notch. They patiently explained every step of my procedure and were more than reassuring. I highly recommend Center For Sight.

EYE SURGERY AT A FACTORY! I've been to MANY doctors offices in my lifetime, but NEVER have I seen anything quite like this place! It's appalling! Patients waiting for hours only to be directed up to the second floor for another round of waiting for another another hour! After being led into the third waiting area, with patients lying everywhere on gurneys, I finally had enough when the nurse was unable to insert an IV into my arm!
After almost 3 hours of waiting in a freezing cold office with patients lying 10 inches from one another (during Covid) I had enough! I got off my gurney and walked out! No one should have to wait 3 hours to see a doctor. I don't care how good you are! It's so impersonal, uncaring and appalling! After leaving due to a medical condition I have and could no longer wait, I learned that the surgeon refuses to operate on me now!
I waited 3 hours! Can you imagine this type of medical care? Running a factory is one thing. Running surgical eye clinic is quite something else! Do your due diligence before coming here!

I have to tell you how amazing the whole team is at center for sight! I am on the younger side of having cataracts and to say I was very nervous! Everyone one was so NICE and calming! The surgery went fast and everything was explained in detail on what to do during and after. If I could give more stars for this practice I would! Thank you Dr Soscia and tram!

I am extremely happy with the results of my cataract surgery. The staff is very supportive and efficient. Dr. Shoemaker is an excellent doctor and my sight improved greatly. I am grateful I was assigned to Kelly, my patient representative. She took care of me and supported me through the whole process.

CFS is very efficient, uses state of the art equipment, and the staff seems well trained. However, if you expect to see the surgeon more than the 5 minutes he allocates at the initial evaluation, you will be sorely disappointed. I would have appreciated a short visit from the surgeon after the Cataract surgery to assure me all went well. That did not happen.
In addition, the patient is given a surgery time window. The day before surgery between 1pm and 5pm, the Center telephones to give the exact surgery time. This is very inconvenient for the patient.

Every visit I've had to this office results in a positive outcome. The staff are all kind, compassionate, competent, and professional. I had the Lasik procedure performed here and I am thrilled with the results. The follow up exams are thorough and the ongoing care is outstanding! I also had to be seen here for an emergency when I woke up with severe eye pain (not related to Lasik, I had a foreign body in my eye) and Dr. Schaub quickly identified the problem and fixed it so that I had immediate relief. They are amazing at what they do!

Dr. Kim, along with his entire staff, were wonderful! I was taken in on time. The pre-consultation exams were so thorough, and each team member was extremely experienced and knowledgeable. Not to mention polite. Dr. Kim was so impressive. His demeanor was kind and patient, explaining every detail and answering all my questions. Never did I feel rushed. After my consultation, I was set at ease, knowing I had the best of the best!

I paid over $6000 for CUSTOM Mono Vision cataract surgery from Doctor Lahners. I have worn RGP Mono vision contact lenses for over 30 years and love them. Unfortunately I got cataracts in both eyes and needed surgery. I Called 4 Times before the surgery and STRESSED that I need to be able to read at 36 " away NOT 12". I tried extremely hard to explained this to his assistant BUT SHE WOULD NOT LISTEN!
Actually the only thing she said was I will be able to read and see distance. She was right as long as I'm 12" away from what I am reading. I drive 40k miles a year and I CAN NOT READ MY DASH Board because it is 30 to 36" away! In my book CUSTOM means I should get What I ask For! RIGHT? Nevin

My experience was very positive. The people I had contact with were very nice and very helpful. Everything was explained well and in language I could understand. I was a little nervous but the nurses were very comforting and patient. The Dr was attentive to my needs and very thorough. Thank you all for your care and understanding. I would recommend the Center to others. Deanna Spencer

Center for Sight took Henry Ford's recommendation and made their practice a assembly line. That's all it is. I had cataract surgery and the results are no different then when I first went in. And of course they have an excuse for why the surgery was not successful. $7,000 down the drain. They final solution was prescription sunglasses. I could have saved 6,700 had I known that.

Top notch service. Top of the line surgeons w decades of expertise. The surgeon who performed my cataract removal is Dr. Lahner who could not be better. I now have 20-20 vision in both eyes & see colors as though I were 5 years old again. I cannot be more grateful for the restoration of my sight. Hallelujah. No trick fees. No pressure. Transportation provided to & from surgery by punctual professional drivers.
All technicians who provide everything from eye measurements to financial info are courteous, knowedgeable & professional. My experience having my cataracts removed was perfect from beginning to end. The surgeon who operated on me has done 50,000+ procedures. What more can anyone ask for? For those who complain these huge eye clinics are "factories" I find it comforting that everyone is an expert at his/her job so patients are moved in & out w military precision unless, of course, there is the occasional emergency or scheduling delays because of tropical storms or. whatever.
There is a large demand for cataract surgery due to the elderly population in Sarasota so there are several clinics & many branches that serve the large numbers of patients who all have individual needs. It's impressive how these clinics are so organized. Center for Sight is awesome. Highly recommended.

My first visit to the Center For Sight Was yesterday. As a physician, I was curious also To see how such a large practice was Handled. I was very impressed. The practice Was efficient, v, ery polite and fast. The following eye exams were just amazing. This was the most comprehensive eye exam I had ever had. Dr. Lanhers was careful To explain the cataract surgery varieties And options.
He did yet another eye exam And was thorough and not in a hurry. I had read some negative reviews About the practice and this was not my Experience at all. This was just excellent In every way.

I went to the Center for Sight for cataract surgery. The day of the surgery I was ushered into a cold room with probably 20 other patients lying on gurneys. The professional staff were cold and distant. They do not introduce themselves nor do they call you by name. I suffer anxiety before medical procedures and I felt uncomfortable with this assembly line approach.
The anesthetist was particularly unfeeling and hectored me about my rising blood pressure and heart rate. I explained that I always suffer from "white coat syndrome" and would soon calm down if she would just leave me alone for a few minutes. I then suffered a full blown anxiety attack and was denied the surgery. I subsequently found another surgeon who only did 6 patients a day and suffered no anxiety and the surgery went well. So if you are feeling apprehensive about your cataract procedure you might want to avoid this assemble line approach.

Generally a friendly office and good office staff which is good because you should expect to be there for a LONG time. I had a regular appointment for eye exam, review/update glasses and prescriptions. I didn't wait long for the tech who did the majority of the work. Then I waited over an hour for Dr Putrino to see me. He did a check of my eyes, recommended a contact lens brand and sent me on my way.
For the first time every, there was no discussion of making sure the new contact lens brand fit properly. When I asked about that, I got "nah not necessary". I asked for a sunglass prescription and was told that I could get it after making sure I liked the contact lenses. When I called the office to get that prescription, I was told I needed to make another appointment. I don't have another 3+ hours to spend waiting in the waiting room.

Recently came here on a recommendation from one of their own at the university pkwy location. Made the appointment two weeks prior but received a call, the day before the procedure, to inform me that they would be collecting $1000 the day of my appointment. Really?!couldn't they have called me 24 to 48 hours after making the appointment, so that I can better prepare?!
Not like I have that laying around! Day of appointment, I walked in to find a cattle call, people in line, people sitting, people everywhere. Got to the reception desk and when collecting the payment, the medical receptionist didn't know how to go about collecting the payment. She then went to another section of the office to ask for assistance and that receptionist didn't know how to collect the payment either.
Now this was a medical credit card that they themselves told me to apply for in order to cover the surgery. They did manage to figure it out right before I went in for the procedure. My name was then called and I found myself in an exam room with an assistant and NOT the doctor. I asked when I would be consulting with the doctor and was told that I would NOT be and this is what the assistant was there for. So, I was being prepared for surgery without discussing it with the doctor, whom I never met.
I obviously informed the assistant of the multitude of issues I've been up against since day one of diagnosis. She was great (and the only reason a gave this place two stars) and explained things to me that should have been explained since day one! When I was prepped and ready, the doctor walks in and awkwardly mumbles something like "we're going to take care of this for you" and was done and gone in a matter of minutes. Lastly, I was put in a waiting room with lots of downward pocket lights after having a light sensitive procedure, Why?! Word of advice, if you want to be well informed, have advance notice of anything (especially financials) and a doctor with a bedside manner, don't come here.

Before Montgomery Eye Center switched to Center For Sight the service and billing was a breeze. Now that the new company is in place, they charge for refraction, which my insurance pays for. However, it doesn't pay as much as Center For Sight wants so they don't even bother to submit. They just send a bill and then threaten to ruin my credit if I don't pay them directly.
My husband was on the phone with them numerous times. They just don't care. They want the extra money. I think I need to contact the State to look into why they do this.

I was disappointed when, after only six months of being seen, the doctor refused to renew a prescription for eye drops. It seems that the push for a full eye exam, even at the height of Covid, took precedence over common sense and empathy. In fact when I saw Dr. Lenhart several months ago for blepharitis, his response was cold and unhelpful. When I tried to explain how I thought I had contracted it, he interrupted and dismissed me.
He pushed for a full eye exam then and then again as I was checking out. It seemed to be his only concern even though I had a full eye exam fairly recently. I have since discovered that this office is one of many and is basically a chain of eye doctors. I don't eat at chain restaurants and won't leave the care of my eyes to a chain ophthalmologist.

Paid over 5K for custom package done by laser but on 2nd eye the machine was broken. They claim when this happens they give the option of postponing or proceeding with the manual surgery but they did not offer this option. It was obvious this 2nd eye wasn't done the same as the 1st and it took 10 days and numerous call to speak with different people until being told there is no refund for not getting the laser. This is outrageous. They should have patients sign something giving such approval.

I had cataract surgery 1.5 months ago and opted for the multi-focal lens implants. Their literature and their scheduling clerk tell you that most people experience little if any down time from the procedure. They also tell you that with these very expensive multi-focal lens implants, you should have good vision for all distances after healing. First of all, the procedure itself is a mass production, cattle call with dozens of patients in and out withing a 3-4 hour period each week.
The doctors go from operating room to operating room and spend a few minutes with each patient. Secondly, you never see that doctor again after the procedure; they send you to your eye doctor for all follow-ups. So, no accountability at all for the surgeon. I have not been able to endure any light at all since my surgery. I have to wear dark sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat to venture outdoors - even on cloudy days.
My doctor performed all the usual tests and my vision acuity is excellent. But I can't use my good vision because using my eyes for anything is somewhere between uncomfortable and painful at most times. I am currently on an extensive road trip with my husband; but, because of my eye problems, I cannot drive at all. If I had any idea how bad this would be, I never would have had this procedure done. This facility's primary interest is in making money - and lots of it.

I am currently on an extensive road trip with my husband; but, because of my eye problems, I cannot drive at all. If I had any idea how bad this would be, I never would have had this procedure done. This facility's primary interest is in making money - and lots of it.
