Laser vision correction has transformed eye care. By the time the kids of today reach their twenties, it will be just as natural for them to have LASIK surgery as it would be today to have braces. Nilu Maboudi M.D. joined Griffin & Reed Eye Care in July of 1999. Dr. Maboudi attended the University of California, Los Angeles and graduated with a BS in Biology.
At Griffin & Reed Eye Care, our experienced and trusted team offers the latest eye care services for patients in Roseville, Sacramento, and the surrounding areas of California. You can learn more about our providers below or you can dial 916-784-2020 today to schedule a consultation at our Roseville office.
Laser vision correction can positively influence many facets of everyday life. Patients convey the joy and wonder of driving, participating in hobbies, sports and countless other activities without the need for glasses or contacts. This is the aspect of refractive surgery that I enjoy the most. My first and foremost goal is delivering quality patient care and I feel reassured that we are doing this in a safe and appropriate way at Griffin & Reed Eye Care.Dr. Kim attended the University of Iowa, where he obtained his BS in Biochemistry with a Math minor.
Jocelyn Kim-Dunlavey M.D. grew up in Southern California. She attended UCLA where she obtained an undergraduate degree in Business Economics. The summer prior to her senior year, Dr. Dunlavey traveled to Honduras to aid coffee farmers and start a cooperative to help improve their lives. During this trip, she helped with medical brigades that were in Honduras, sparking her interest in medicine. Upon graduating from UCLA, she then completed the Post-Baccalaureate premedical program at Columbia University.

After being a client here for more than 15 years, I was given an appointment with a doctor who doesn't do contact lenses, when that's the only thing I've ever been seen for. I was told it was due to reception staff training, which I accepted. But after an appointment that took 2 hours, due to doctor-shuffling, so that I could be seen for the reason I made my appointment (contact lenses), imagine my surprise when I tried to order contacts and my doctor (Dr Kim-Dunlavey, who I'd never seen before) hadn't even written my name correctly on my glasses/contact prescription.
So I am unable to order what I need and now have to return again to them. How ironic that they are VISION care specialists, but couldn't even see a five letter surname to be written correctly on my prescription. After TWO hours. come on guys. You're better than that . That's basic training - for an MD I'm surprised indeed.

I have been seeing Dr. Kim-Dunlavey regularly for a few months since diagnosis of a chronic condition that affects my vision, and have appreciated her monitoring of my condition. All was going well until my most recent appointment. I brought up some new vision issues and she got very frantic and basically offloaded me as a patient. This seemed uncharacteristic of her based on her disposition at our previous appointments.
I understand that some things can be out of a certain specialist's scope of practice, but I would have appreciated at least a little more explanation as to why, and greater effort to understand my symptoms before suddenly terminating care. My concern is now I will have to wait a long time without the routine monitoring my condition requires, while waiting to see a new specialist.
The administrative staff has always been great and I'm sure Dr. Kim-Dunlavey is a talented doctor in other areas, but I would not recommend coming here for longterm care or monitoring for a chronic condition/disability. This lack of positive bedside manner and the disruption created by sudden termination can be very complicated and detrimental for those of us who deal with these conditions, so I hope to make others aware if that is what you're searching for in an ophthalmologist.

Review is for the front desk. Before going into my appointment I had informed them that I did not have my ID for my anthem Blue Cross. They said that they take anthem Blue Cross and so it was fine. I confirmed with them again before arriving. When I arrived they said that they could not see me because I did not have My ID number. I had told them I could just call and get the ID number.
They said after a certain amount of time that they couldn't see me anymore for the appointment and it would have to be canceled. It was absolutely ridiculous. Disappointing customer service. I called anthem Blue Cross myself in 10 minutes and got the ID number when I got home and made my appointment elsewhere.

Dr. Reed did my lasik surgery 11 years ago and I still have 20/15 vision. He's the best, I wouldn't let anyone else point a laser at my eyes. The whole process was really easy and he did a great job explaining the evaluation and procedure. The procedure and recovery were a breeze too. It's been life changing to not need contacts or glasses for the last decade, I'm extremely grateful to Dr. Reed and the other staff that made it possible. No notes. Would do again. 10/10.

Natalie, your customer service, did an excellent job on finding me an appointment with Dr Maboudi the soonest. I'm experiencing an extreme pain in my eye. and having 3 sty with pus in same eye lid, I was in panic! Though she is not a doctor, I'm grateful for Natalie, who was kind and sympathetic in my grief.

I didn't think that not having to wear glasses / contacts would make as big a difference as it has. Getting LASIK has been a life changing experience. The staff at Griffin & Reed were attentive and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire experience. Dr. Maboudi was my physician. She thoroughly explained the operation and answered every question I had. Working with her was fantastic.

My ophthalmologist, Dr Nilu Maboudi, is brilliant and compassionate. I've been with her for 20 years and have always experience everything I could hope in eye care. Four plus years ago I moved out of the area and tried to find a new ophthalmologist, one closer to my new home. Nobody could come close to Dr Maboudi. She really is the gold standard. I now drive 71 miles to my appointments with her and am very thankful to do so.

I can not speak more highly of my entire process from start to finish. As a health care practitioner myself, it was important that I found someone I could trust as well as deliver the best patient care. Dr. Reed was absolutely fabulous. He explained everything to myself and my husband, answered all of our questions and left us assured for the procedure.
Its been almost 2 months since my surgery and I can honestly say its been life changing. Not only is my vision perfect, but not having to deal with my contacts, itchiness, tired eyes has been a game changer for me in my clinical setting. I have already referred multiple patients to Dr. Reed and will continue to do so! Five stars doesn't do this review justice! So very thankful for my new eyes. I can now see in high definition :

I had my lasik surgery here in November and it was seriously the greatest decision I've made. The consultation is extremely in depth and was honestly one of my favorite parts. Dr. Reed is so knowledgeable and tells you everything you need to know about your eyes and the procedure. I felt really prepared and knew exactly what to expect during the surgery and healing process. The procedure itself was quick and painless. I was able to see the next day and I have 20/15 vision now. I definitely recommend this place to everyone I know.
