Kids Yoga Classes

Our 10 week Children's Yoga Series is back for another semester! Your little yogis will work on their strength and flexibility while improving their body coordination with music and games throughout class.
The reason we offer these classes in a 10 class series and not as single classes are because little ones are able to be more successful in yoga when they can get into rhythm with the routines of the class. In addition, when students of this age come regularly we are able to play more games because the group dynamic among the children becomes more consistent and sweet friendships are formed.

Hosh Yoga is a studio that offers classes that are given in a peaceful clean space. They offer basic, open and restorative and meditation. I went to an Open Class with Meditation which I really enjoyed and was able to practice with modifications as needed. The class provided mats and props and the teacher, Katie was most helpful and recommended the use of props as needed for your own particular practice which was most helpful. Katie instructed so nicely and offered many suggestions to enhance practice.
Even though it was multilevel and I am not able to do many advanced poses, I felt comfortable with modifying in her class. Pricing is reasonable in this studio which I am grateful for. I highly recommend Hosh Yoga!

I came for a certain class because I saw on the website it was donation based. I checked the site as late as 5 minutes before leaving to go there. However, when I arrived there they said it is not donation based and that the price of drop ins had just gone up too. My lucky day? So they are not very organized, but the class itself was disappointing as well.
The room is tiny and no natural light. The teacher speaks very low volume and describes poses in a very complicated way so as to consistently disrupt the flow. The highlight (or lowlight) was when a giant bug ran across the floor and we were stuck in triangle pose extra long. Spend your money elsewhere!

This is such a great studio! I really like the space especially the changing/storage/admin room. It is very functional and spacious unlike other yoga studios I have been too. I love that I can leave my mat there. I appreciate that hosh yoga community made yoga so affordable! There are plenty of variety of classes to pick from every day. I love my sunrise flow classes.
Such a great way to start a day. The instructors are friendly, experienced and passionate about their practice. They also do fun free events there with yoga, wine, music and chocolates there.

I practice yoga at Hosh just about every day. It's a very welcoming and down to earth studio. The space is clean, pleasant, and isolated from street noise. The instructors are great, and are very passionate about yoga. There's a great variety of yoga classes, from vinyasa to restorative, and even one or 2 pilates classes. Very reasonable rates, both for memberships and individual classes (sliding scale available for some). Highly recommended!

Started my practice here in December 2013 after a gut busting Christmas dinner, and I'm very glad I did! I'm fortunate to have come across some great teachers at Hosh who helped me build a strong foundation and turn me onto the benefits of having a regular practice beyond just working out. Dedicating an hour or so each day to meditating on my breath and my body has become so important to me. It's completely changed I tackle life and how I feel on the inside and out. Plus, the community is inclusive and friendly - I've met lots of great new people through Hosh.
Go to the Yoga Tune Up class at 8pm on Thursdays. Even if you don't "do yoga", this is an amazing treat - you'll be led through guided self-massage using therapy balls and muscle reset exercises. Classes are always non-judgmental and welcoming, and you are free to go at your own pace. Pose modifications are frequently offered and encouraged. Drop in rates have been raised since I first started coming here, so the crazily affordable monthly membership is the way to go (it's also tax deductible!)

I started attending Hosh in early 2012 after several events in my life caused me to be stressed out. I attended on and off for the next two years (Once in a while, I attend Yoga Vida in The Village. If you can afford it, I recommend Colleen and Sarah). The instructors at Hosh are great and the staff are friendly. The classes are $5 (you are free to pay more), which is less expensive than most yoga studio. However, it seems like there is a high turnover ratio among the instructors.
The instructors are all volunteers and this is not their full time gig. Just when you get attached to a particular instructor, they're replaced by another instructor. Furthermore, this studio looks like it's in an abandoned warehouse. It's an ominous, depressing looking building, though they did try to add some artwork. Hosh is across from McCarren Park and a few blocks from the G train. In fact, during the summer, a few classes are held at McCarren.

Hosh is so great! I'm so glad I have a studio so close to me which is so awesome. Classes are donation-based, I pay a $39 per month unlimited membership (SO affordable for yoga!), which they also offer at certain times of the year. I prefer the classes which are a bit more fast-paced, but it's always nice to take a slower, more meditative class as well (allows you to focus more on alignment and proper posture).
I really love Andrew's class on Thursdays 8 pm and Saturdays 3 pm. The last time I took his class, everyone did bridge and he scurried through us all, first and second row- it was hilarious. I love a little interjection of humor during a class. I also enjoy Roque's class (Roque and Roll)- a little more fast paced. Nothing to complain about at all with this studio- classes are small even though donation-based, which is wonderful. I would only suggest to offer more "power" style classes and maybe more weekend classes. Thanks Hosh for being so wonderful!

Hosh Yoga is hands down one of my favorite studios in NYC. It lacks pretention (that a lot of studios sadly have) it's affordable, and all of the teachers I've had are wonderful. They obviously care about yoga, and leave the whole 'trendy' part about it behind. Some classes are more crowded than others, so just make sure to get there 10~ minutes early and you'll definitely grab a spot.
And remember to donate! I usually go at 10 or 12pm on Saturdays, and it's an amazing way to start the weekend. Plus, you're close to awesome brunch spots in Greenpoint for a post-yoga glow bloody mary.

Better than Yoga to the People--less crowded, helpful teachers, more intimate space, good vibe. Great for beginners. Inconsistent classes though and teachers are always rotating in/out. Sometimes challenging and sometimes easy and more relaxing -- I never know what I'll get. Not sure how serious/qualified the teachers are. Seems like it's just their side-thing. I prefer more serious/devout yogis as teachers but you get what you pay for! I love it when they massage me with lavender at the end though!

Great, donation-based yoga studio. I've had amazing yoga classes here and some ok yoga classes here. It really depends on the teacher. The teacher's seem to change a lot. But you can definitely find some that you like. They have a ton of classes, but the classes tend to fill up quickly. Especially weekdays after 5:00, so get there early/on time.
The room is a bit chilly, so best to dress in layers. Yoga is so freaking expensive on this city. Many places are $20/class. I can't afford that, so I was very pleased to discover Hosh Yoga.

I love Hosh Yoga, and I also loved Yuuki Hirano's class. I would come here everyday if I lived in Williamsburg. I found this studio via Yelp last year upon trying to a yoga studio where I could do drop-in classes whenever I was visiting in NY. Hosh became the ideal place as it was pay as you wish and the studio offered fantastic, quality instructors.
According to the website, it's also a not for profit yoga studio "dedicated to spreading the love of yoga and fostering a nurturing yoga community in the Greenpoint and Williamsburg area of Brooklyn and of course beyond"--which I think is a great concept! Yuuki's class was challenging, and I really appreciated that he provided assists, and it felt like he really cared about helping his students deepen into poses and get the maximum benefits.
I really liked his style, and definitely felt a good connection to the class. I also appreciated that he didn't say things like "don't worry about the cars, busy streets, all the things you have to do, etc etc and put negative thoughts in my mind, when I wasn't even thinking of them to begin with! I've had yoga teachers like that in the past, super annoying.
I also love the fact that the studio and space itself is very simple without any distractions, no mirrors, no clocks, imagine a hollow, serene room, but it's not very big so don't be surprised if you're in a packed class and someone is literally 1 inch away from you. You take off your shoes outside the classroom, and the donation box hangs by the door and you can pay as you enter/exit your class. Overall, this place is great, and I look forward to practicing there again when I return to NY.

Sometimes, it takes perfect conditions for me to work out. - a coffee 30-45 mins before my planned start time - must be no more than an hour after i leave work - i can't be too hungry - i can't have an engagement any time before 7:30pm So, let's just say that the YMCA I belong to doesn't really accommodate to my very specific needs when it comes to Yoga / Pilates classes.
In comes Hosh Yoga. Located in the basement of the strange, supermarket-esque Otom Gym on Calyer, Hosh offers a very convenient 6 pm class 5 days a week (and an additional 8 pm class on Tuesdays and Thursdays). The perfect timing of the classes (It's almost as if the world revolves around me.) and the fact that it is donation based yoga make this class the bomb diggity!
As soon as I rolled out my mat, I realized how SMALL the class is. I would go as far as to say intimate. After growing accustomed to the 15 minute period that Yoga to the People spends trying to fit every last person in the room, this was amazing. There were probably 8 people, and there was plenty of room. I didn't feel like I, with my extreme lack of balance, flexibility, and grace, was endangering anybody due to the proximity of our bodies.
Even before the class started, my instructor (Yuuki) was extremely informative and pleasant! It's nice to be in a class small enough to receive personal attention. He even helped me with my positioning, which is really important, because I kind of suck at Yoga, and need ALL the help I can get. As for the class itself, let's just say my abs were sore for at least 3 days, if not more. That's a good thing, people. I felt thoroughly stretched and relaxed when I left, and although at time it was a struggle - it was definitely the good kind. See you soon, Hosh.

I've only gone once, but it was one of my favorite yoga classes ever. I strongly recommend that you check out their schedule and stop by. The class is pretty unstructured. You're encouraged to do your own variations on every asana, and take as much time as you please with every switch in alignment. I never manage to keep up with Sun Salutations and the like in other classes, but here I was able to check my alignment in each posture before moving on to the next. SO LIBERATING. I also have to say that this was an extremely physically challenging class - he's definitely heavy on e.g. holding the plank forever.

Are you kidding me? This place is FANTASTIC! I'd never done yoga in the past but now have no problem driving to Brooklyn from Jersey to attend these classes. It's located in the Williamsburg & Greenpoint areas of Brooklyn. In the summer they hold classes outdoors at McCarren Park but now it's inside at Otom Gym. First off, it's free- well literally, you pay what you wish, but there's no obligation of signing up for a class or obtaining a gym membership. Secondly, the instructors are outstanding.
No pressure or making you an example in front of the rest of the class. If you're struggling and can't keep up, drop down to child's pose, simple as that. These folks are great! I can't compare it to other places in the area since I've never been, but in my opinion you'd be hard pressed to find better yoga in the new york city area than at Hosh Yoga.

I did the three week trial and loved this place! TBD if I will commit to 3 months membership since I may be moving soon, but I would recommend this to anyone. I walked in alone having never been to a yoga class and felt very welcome and no judgement. If you’re new to yoga like me, I’d recommend getting a spot in the back so you can learn from watching those around you.

This space is very comfortable and offers a wide variety of classes from volunteer teachers. I am a beginning yogi, and the instructor Adriana is one of the best teachers I have ever had; (I have stopped and started a lot since I was 19 years old.) I love her classes because they are good for the beginner or experienced yogi. I have a lot of anxiety and fear in group classes, and Adriana makes the class comfortable, challenging and varied so that I don't worry. Thank you Hosh!

This place is honestly the best, I'm extremely happy to be a part of the Hosh Yoga community. Everyone at Hosh is warm, caring and welcomes everyone with open arms. All Levels Flow with Stefanie is my favorite. I always look forward to going to Hosh for this class. Stefanie is amazing at what she does, I'm continuously learning from her. I'm forever grateful of her and her wonderful spirit.
Ann is another example of the incredible teachers involved with Hosh, she is upbeat and vivacious. She is a great teacher and impresses me constantly with her beautiful attitude and outlook on life. Thank you so much

Only 160 yards away from my holiday apartment I couldn't have asked for a closed studio...I visited the studio a few times within my weeks stay trying different classes and teachers. A nice, clean space. I was greeted warmly and genuinely. Lovely teachers, I particularly liked Andrew Chung's classes! Highly recommend this studio
