Dental implants
Report
Dental implants are changing the way people live. They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth which look, feel and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved they can smile with confidence.
Bone Grafting
Report
Over a period of time, the jawbone associated with missing teeth atrophies or is reabsorbed. This often leaves a condition in which there is poor quality and quantity of bone suitable for placement of dental implants. In these situations, most patients are not candidates for placement of dental implants.
Today, we have the ability to grow bone where needed. This not only gives us the opportunity to place implants of proper length and width, it also gives us a chance to restore functionality and esthetic appearance.

Oral Pathology
Report
The inside of the mouth is normally lined with a special type of skin (mucosa) that is smooth and coral pink in color. Any alteration in this appearance could be a warning sign for a pathological process. The most serious of these is oral cancer. The following can be signs at the beginning of a pathologic process or cancerous growth:
Reddish patches (erythroplasia) or whitish patches (leukoplakia) in the mouth
A sore that fails to heal and bleeds easily
A lump or thickening on the skin lining the inside of the mouth
Chronic sore throat or hoarseness
Difficulty in chewing or swallowing
These changes can be detected on the lips, cheeks, palate, and gum tissue around the teeth, tongue, face and/or neck. Pain does not always occur with pathology, and curiously, is not often associated with oral cancer. However, any patient with facial and/or oral pain without an obvious cause or reason may also be at risk for oral cancer.
We would recommend performing an oral cancer self-examination monthly and remember that your mouth is one of your body’s most important warning systems. Do not ignore suspicious lumps or sores.

Jaw Surgery
Report
Orthognathic surgery is needed when jaws don’t meet correctly and/or teeth don’t seem to fit with jaws. Teeth are straightened with orthodontics and corrective jaw surgery repositions misaligned jaws. This not only improves facial appearance, but also ensures that teeth meet correctly and function properly. Questions about orthognathic jaw surgery in Palm Springs? Call our office for a consultation.
Impacted Canines
Report
An impacted tooth simply means that it is “stuck” and can not erupt into function. Patients frequently develop problems with impacted third molar (wisdom) teeth. These teeth get “stuck” in the back of the jaw and can develop painful infections among a host of other problems. Since there is rarely a functional need for wisdom teeth, they are usually extracted if they develop problems. The maxillary cuspid (upper eye tooth) is the second most common tooth to become impacted. The cuspid tooth is a critical tooth in the dental arch and plays an important role in your “bite”. The cuspid teeth are very strong biting teeth which have the longest roots of any human teeth. They are designed to be the first teeth that touch when your jaws close together so they guide the rest of the teeth into the proper bite.
Facial Trauma
Report
The dental specialist performs the proper treatment of facial injuries. These professionals must be well versed in emergency care, acute treatment and long term reconstruction and rehabilitation – not just for physical reasons but emotional as well. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are trained, skilled and uniquely qualified to manage and treat Facial Trauma. Injuries to the face, by their very nature, impart a high degree of emotional, as well as physical trauma to patients. The science and art of treating these injuries requires special training involving a “hands on” experience and an understanding of how the treatment provided will influence the patient’s long term function and appearance.
Drs Bass and Garcia meet and exceed these modern standards. They are trained, skilled and uniquely qualified to manage and treat facial trauma.

TMJ Disorders
Report
TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders are a family of problems related to your complex jaw joint. If you have had symptoms like pain or a “clicking” sound, you’ll be glad to know that these problems are more easily diagnosed and treated than they were in the past. These symptoms occur when the joints of the jaw and the chewing muscles (muscles of mastication) do not work together correctly. TMJ stands for Temporomandibular Joint, which is the name for each joint (right and left) that connects your jaw to your skull. Since some types of TMJ problems can lead to more serious conditions, early detection and treatment are important.
No one treatment can resolve TMJ disorders completely and treatment takes time to become effective. Dr. Bass can help you have a healthier and more comfortable jaw.

Dr Bass is the best oral surgeon there is hands down. I am totally not a fan of dentists but he makes it vary clear from the start what needs to be done and the procedures. I came in as a recommendation for a extraction of my wisdom tooth. Dr Bass is not the Dr that will push you into anything, and he's vary passionate about his work and making you feel comfortable every step of the way. He even called me afterwards to make sure I was ok. I would definitely recommend Dr Bass to anyone that ask.

Dr. Bass & the nurses are incredible! My wisdom teeth started hurting and my dentist referred me to Dr. Bass' practice. Dr. Bass was simply incredible! Very quick removal of all four wisdom teeth and the surgery site looks beautifully well done and healthy. One day after and there is no swelling and no pain; I don't even feel like I had oral surgery, yet all four wisdom teeth are gone! Finally, the nurses/office girls are incredibly patient, wonderful people. Very thorough in their instructions for post-op care. Definitely recommend Desert Oral Surgery!

I JUST was referred to Dr. Bass who extracted tooth #19...which was an old crown and now "will be"...a new implant next year. I was happily surprised on how funny, nice and thorough he was during the whole process. I do not think ANY doctor or dentist I ever had made me feel more secure during a procedure. He told me he also is working today..which is Christmas Eve. Dr. Bass even gave me my injection (even with three nurses in the room)-he was so smooth, I barely felt anything and my arm shows it too...no Mark at all!...Plus Dr. Bass even called me HIMSELF last night to make sure I was ok....I've never experienced such amazing customer service from a doctor or dentist EVER...Thank you Dr. Bass!!!

I was scheduled for an extraction of an abscessed tooth, had followed directions with all my insurance information several days ago and everything was in order. They called me half an hour before my surgery while I was outside my house waiting for Uber to take me there to let me know that they were not part of the Anthem Blue Cross PPO network and I would have to pay out of pocket. When I asked how much they didn't know. It was the worst disservice a company could do to a patient.

I've had several procedures done with Dr. Garcia, and I can't imagine going to another surgeon. He's very patient and gentle. He's pulled out a tooth of mine when I elected to be awake and he's also put me to sleep for other procedures and I always feel very comfortable. Thank you Dr. Garcia and staff!

I came in to have a neoplasm removed from the inside of my cheek. Obviously, this is a serious matter. Dr. Garcia squeezed me in for a last minute appointment on a Friday afternoon and cut the whole thing out - margins and all. I was amazed at how thorough he was, but the most impressive part of it was that I didn't feel a thing! How can you have that much tissue excised and not even feel a pinch? Dr. Garcia is a God of oral surgery.

The most fantastic experience! Dr Garcia and the entire staff made feel at ease during a removal of a wisdom tooth that had flared up. They brought me in right away and squeezed me into their busy schedule and their friendliness and obvious experience made me feel that I was in the best hands! The procedure went extremely well and Dr Garcia personally called me that evening to see how I was doing, which was incredible!
I recommend Desert Oral Surgery whole heartedly and feel very fortunate that I chose them! Special shout out to Selina the receptionist who facilitated my treatment and was the sweetest!

Needed Oral surgery. Was very scared. Researched this facility for patient reviews. Other patients had raving reviews so I thought I would also give it a try. What a great choice I made. My procedure went better then expected. Staff was nice and friendly. Dr. Garcia was excellent caring and wow did he do an excellent job. I would definitely recommend this facility if you need oral surgery. I would give them a 10 if I could. Thank you Dr. Garcia.

Visited with a family member who was having a surgery performed. Dr. Garcia was great, a vision in professionalism and bed side manner. Eddie who assisted made the process as painless as anything dental can be. Truly a great experience. I will continue to highly recommend this practice as my family have been patients since the 80's.
However, spending a great deal of time in the waiting area....an older blonde woman(Connie?)who sat in the chair at reception, was oversharing, loudly, about her entire life to a coworker who was clearly embarrassed by this woman's incessant inappropriate sharing.
After hearing about her horrible apartment, how much she wants to work in the palm desert office, her entire July 4th day off being stung by a bee....and the worst....how "disgusting" the desk area is that she has to work on for software changes, I literally ran outside to wait in the heat to escape her and was soon joined by others waiting for their loved ones. I truly hope future and returning patients do not have the displeasure of experiencing this, I know this is not the standard this practice holds.

Dr. Garcia came highly recommended by my ENT in an effort to diagnose what has been causing so much pain in my cheekbone, jawbone and sinus area. He was careful to listen and the visit was never rushed. I don't have an answer for my pain but I will say Dr. Garcia was a breath of fresh air. A Doctor that actually cares about the well being of the patient is not an easy find these days but Dr. Garcia does it effortlessly! Friendly office staff as well. Selena was super sweet! I definitely recommend this office for dental needs!

Dr. Garcia performed oral surgery for me on 12/12/18 and it was a remarkably great experience on all counts! His staff and team members were professional, polite and on time. Dr. Garcia met with me in advance of the procedure, discussed the process and my concerns and then, within an hour, all was done! I had very little discomfort, got a follow-up call from Dr. Garcia that evening and overall, felt enormously well-cared for. I highly recommend this practice, should you need any form of oral surgery.

Dr. Bass was a huge help in removing my wisdom teeth. It was a quick and painless experience until the numbness wore off, of course. The staff there were wonderful as well. Norma and Jessica made my trip very easy and they are such sweet ladies. They were on time with my app and never once made me feel uncomfortable. I was in and out within an hour and half.
After my encounter with Dr. Bass I received a phone call following up my surgery from Dr. bass himself and if I had any questions about my procedure. Overall, I had a great experience.

I highly recommend seeing Dr. Garcia! I'm really happy he ended up being my oral surgeon. I had to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed and I was really scared but he made me feel comfortable the entire time. I didn't lose any feeling and there were no complications with my recovery either. I'm very thankful to have met him!

I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled, and the anxiety leading up to it got me pretty nervous. It wasn't until the morning of, when I was sitting in the office that I really felt it. Once I got in the chair, the doctors that were there to care for me really helped make me feel comfortable. We just talked about life, and I was able to ask any questions about the procedure. Knowing what was going to happen helped ease my tensions, but the causal conversations is what really made me feel comfortable.
Once I got my medication through the IV, I have no recollection of anything until I was walking out of the place. I'm so glad I had a good experience, because I've heard many horror stories. Thank you for taking care of me! Now back to my ice cream.

I was extremely nervous for getting my wisdom teeth removed, but the Doctor and staff made me feel at complete ease! We had scheduled a consultation and the Doctor walked us through every step and was very thorough in explaining the procedure! The day of the surgery, the staff was very kind and it went so well! I had very limited swelling and zero problems with recovery! I highly recommend this office!!
