In 1985, Elizabeth Nolan, Founder of WDC, was diagnosed with early breast cancer. In her battle to fight this life-threatening disease, Liz realized that part of the struggle was dealing with ill-informed and unsympathetic healthcare professionals who told her to "not worry her pretty little head". Because of that early detection, and because Liz took control of her treatment and found the right doctors, she is now a 30+-year survivor. Likewise, she was so changed by the experience that she founded the Women's Diagnostic Center.
Services
For every new patient who has previously had a mammogram elsewhere, we contact the previous mammography provider and get the most recent films in order to compare. We are accredited by the American College of Radiology and compliant with the Mammography Quality Standards Act. All six of our mammography technologists have obtained registry in this specialty with their professional organization. Although the MQSA standards require interpretation of 480 mammograms annually, our radiologist reads and interprets between 9,000 and 10,000!
Digital mammography is proven to be an essential tool in the diagnosis, treatment and fight against breast cancer. Our female radiologist can see images instantly, since digital images don't need to be developed. We get clearer images without delay, and reduce the need for callbacks. Breast cancer takes years to develop.
Osteoporosis is a silent disease of the bones that makes them weaken and prone to fracture. By their mid-30s, most people begin to gradually lose bone strength; as a result, bones become thinner and structurally weaker.* A Bone Density test ( scan or screening ) is the best way to determine if you have a problem with bone density.
Patients are referred to us by their healthcare providers. You must present a valid doctor's order to have the x-ray performed. This is a state law. Most x-rays do not require an appointment and do not require any pre-exam preparations. You may come into our offices without an appointment and expect to have your exam within 15-20 minutes of your arrival.
