Often a group of nerves, called a plexus or ganglion, that causes pain to a specific organ or body region can be blocked with the injection of medication into a specific area of the body. The injection of this nerve-numbing substance is called a nerve block. A medial branch nerve block is a type of injection used to determine if the facet joint is causing the patient's back pain.

Facet joints are pairs of small joints between the vertebrae in the back of the spine. The portion of the body that registers the sensation of pain is the brain, not the point of injury.
Services
We accept new patients on referral from Physicians and other licensed professionals. Many insurance carriers, e.g. Medicare, require specialists to receive patients on referral from other providers rather than from the patients themselves. Patients who join our practice are seen for a comprehensive initial visit by one of our Physicians or Nurse Practitioners.
Pain Consultants of the Rockies, PC (PCR) is the oldest and most experienced practice in the State of Wyoming devoted to the care of patients with intractable pain. We have continuously been involved in this challenging specialty since 1993. We provide all aspects of interventional pain practice, including nerve blocks, injections, nerve destruction procedures, management of Spinal Cord Stimulators, Implantable pumps, Peripheral Nerve Stimulators, diagnostic Diskography. We offer services to patients from all over Wyoming, but we also draw from Colorado and Nebraska.
In order to be seen, you must fill out ALL new patient paperwork, provide us with a photo ID, your insurance card(s), radiology reports, medical records, and new patient refundable $50 deposit. Once we receive your patient paperwork and all other required information, you will be scheduled with our office or assistant manager.

I have been a patient of Pain Consultants for 15 years, and I really enjoyed having Dr. Ribnik, Kris, Stevana, and Scott as my providers, and I especially liked the MA's, and receptionist Angelina. Then, all of a sudden, Scott was gone. And then Kris, Stevana, and ALL of the support staff were gone! I was devastated! And then came Vickie, and my world was turned upside down.

I am no longer a patient of theirs. Vickie is unsympathetic and accusatory. She definitely should not be working in pain management. I will miss Dr. Ribnik very much, and I sincerely hope his Clinic doesn't suffer because of Vickie. Good luck.

I have been a patient at this clinic for 5+ years. Dr Ribnik "validated me & my chronic pain issues"!. They have always treated me as an equal person, been kind, & truly listened to any of my concerns. My regular PA, Kris is pretty darn awesome & so is Stevana! The times that I have had procedures with Dr R, he is great too! They have lots of familiar staff faces, too, so they have been there for years.says alot about how Dr R treats his staff.

I appreciate not being treated like a # & truly having my biggest health concerns addressed each time I walk in the door. Would & have recommended this clinic/ providers to multiple people in the past & would in the future.

Dr. Ribnik has been my pain management specialist for several years. He literally gave me my life back. Using nerve ablation, he alleviated my headaches. When my knees went south, he used injections to ameliorate that pain until he told me it was time to consider replacement surgery. He makes every effort to treat the source of pain, rather than simply masking pain with narcotics.

He is not only a skilled professional, he is a kind, thoughtful man who truly wants the best for his patients. Between procedures with Dr. Ribnik, I see NP Kristi Roybal for follow-up care and to discuss pain issues as they arise. She is thorough, kind, thoughtful, and goes the extra mile, researching issues and various treatments that may become necessary.

I've yet to interact with a single employee of Dr. Ribnik's practice who was anything less than competent, caring, and personable. The improvement in my pain levels, and by extension, the quality of my life, has been exponential. I look forward to continued, excellent care.

I don't understand all the negative comments. I have been in pain management for over 15 years. I have been with PCOTR for 1 year and I have never been treated better, by both the administration/front end staff, and the medical staff, including the doctors, especially Doctor Ribnik. I don't how my experience has been the best I've ever experienced, yet others have had such a horrible experience. I suspect there is more to their stories that we are not bearing.

The staff and doctors here are AWESOME to say the least! They truly care about the disease I deal with on a daily basis and make a point to help research any other options that could help.including other physicians with whom they bounce ideas off of. This approach in care is such a blessing to those of us dealing with major health issues. And the staff is just as wonderful!

They are like family and have care and concern for ALL their patients. They make me laugh, smile, and lift my spirits when I need it the most since dealing with extreme pain. Those who have left negative reviews have obviously not realized what a difficult job this staff has and not given them a chance to help them in all ways. Try that and maybe you would see what Angel's are in this office!

I say to all of you people that say they don't manage pain or they punish you for flunking the urine test - READ YOUR PAIN CONTRACT! I have been going here for close to 5 years and thing that the FNP I go to is the best I've ever been to. She is caring, compassionate and educated. Granted, the front staff could use a little polish at times, but what front staff can't?

I am sure that none of you have ever been to an office where the front staff was perfect - every time. I would tell anyone considering this practice to know they are here to follow their guidelines, the law and help manage pain - not to over prescribe or listen to the sob story of why you don't have your count or why you flunked the urine test. Pa-cha! I would give them 6 stars if I could.

The PA is great and shows compassion. One of the reception people is rude to say the least. Kind of goes along with the 'NO WHINING' sign at check out. They do take care of needs most doctors are afraid to do now due to federal misplaced laws.
