Anti-Aging medicine is a preventive approach to improving health by slowing & reversing the negative health issues that occur with aging. Fortunately, there are many things we can do to counteract many of the above issues and increase the gap between our chronological and biological age. The first step is getting simple lab tests to determine key hormone levels.

Man, I really miss Dr. Zaid. She was so great. When she left, I was stuck with Makani. She never listens, she rushes you though, she treats you with no respect, she has no interest in getting to know you so that you actually have a doctor patient relationship with her, it feels like you are just another cog in the wheel. I can't wait until the pandemic is over so I can look for another doctor. I would recommend her to no one.

Hi: I was referred to Dr. Makani by staff at my primary doctor's office for a post menopausal problem with bleeding that could be indicative of cancer of the uterus. I waited for about 20 minutes in the waiting room, I arrived early to fill out a short form. I waited another 25 minutes in the second waiting room after I changed. When Dr. Makani came in she was rushed and talked very quickly.
I told her my ride had to be back to work in San Diego at a certain time. She seemed not to care and stated it was because she was so "devoted to spending time with her patients" that she would normally always be late. It was a sort of my time is important your's is not type of attitude. It reminded me of the doctors of 50 years ago in Del Mar where I grew up.
She did not apologize. It felt abrupt. The procedure was very painful which she told me it would be. The doctor said there was absolutely nothing she could do for the pain. It did not last long thankfully. I had attempted to call a few times prior to the appointment & the phone lines were never answered due to "technical difficulties" the message said.
On two occasions the phone calls were returned over 24 hours later; to the wrong number. They did not call me at the day time number at my law firm as requested. Said number was left on the doctor's answering machine/answering service to ensure I would not miss her call. The assistant said they had no record of my day time phone number even though I left it clearly three times.
At my office it is considered unprofessional to be on your cell phone during work hours. However, it is fine for the doctor to call my office number and that is the number I left multiple times and listed on my Intake Sheet. I was anxious as to the results as well. I am sure you understand. I am advised by Dr. Makani's assistant I need to have a procedure in the hospital. Dr. Makani's assistant said I needed to come in prior to scheduling the procedure at Scripps, Encinitas.
I explained I had taken multiple days off work thus far to get to the point I was at. I requested Dr. Makani's consideration of that fact, and requested we have a phone consult instead of an in-office conversation so I would not miss more work. I explained this to her assistant. I have never spoken to Dr. Makani since the in office procedure.
She has not once called me to explain the results or the upcoming procedure. To date, she has not forwarded the results of the biopsy to my primary doctor as requested in writing and twice verbally. The assistant consistently returned my calls to the wrong number and left a message that Dr. Makani would not speak on the phone. I never got to talk to Dr. Makani first hand, only her assistant, Corrine who was very nice.
I was told I would need to take another day off work and Dr. Makani would not speak to me on the phone at all. I have no idea why. I have had multiple surgeries and have had phone consults with my doctors in the past, even after surgeries some doctors have called to check in & make sure I am okay. I do not feel comfortable for multiple reasons with Dr. Makani's actions.
I do not feel Dr. Makani has any concerns regarding me as a patient or as a person. For me, it is not what I am used to. I have had amazing doctors in the past as I have been lucky to have good insurance and good references from friends. I will take another day off work, for which I do not get paid, and see how Dr. Makani behaves. I will then take it from there.
I have set an appointment with another specialist on staff at Scripps to get a second opinion and who is highly rated as a surgeon. If someone is going to do a procedure in the hospital affecting my body and my health I would like to feel comfortable with the doctor and her office's professionalism in general. I would like to feel like the doctor cares to some degree and knows my chart or medical history so to speak.
I read other reviews re Dr. Makani tonight that were positive re pregnancies and deliveries. I also received a bill for almost $800 for the office visit. I called my insurance and they told me Dr. Makani had my last name spelled wrong and that was why I received no insurance compensation. So that seems sloppy to me as well. I did repeat to the receptionist the spelling of my last name and it was correctly spelled on my insurance card that I gave them to copy for my file.

Very poor quality care - be cautious! I had a serious medical issue so the staff scheduled an appointment with Dr. Makani (as I was told that Dr. Zaid was "no longer with their practice"). I received an automated appointment reminder call the evening before. I showed up for my scheduled time and the receptionist told me my appointment was actually for the following day - there was something wrong with their automated system and I was the THIRD patient to show up that morning due to their system error. Dr. Makani couldn't see me, as she was booked, so they rescheduled my appointment. Dr. Makani seemed concerned and since I am considered a "high risk" patient, she sent me for an ultrasound.
When I showed up at the location I was given, I wasn't on the Radiologist's schedule. After a few frantic calls, the receptionist finally figured out that Dr. Makani's staff sent me to the wrong place! I was directed to the correct location and had the ultrasound done. The Tech told me that Dr. Makani would have the results within 2 hours, so I expected a call from her by the end of the next day.
After 2 DAYS with no call, I called her office and they said she was "not available". When I pressed the staff about why she couldn't call me just to go over my test results, they said she leaves the office at 2:00 everyday to go home, but they would "try" to have her call me the next day. What?!? Long story short, I immediately found another Gynecologist to help me and got lucky to find an excellent Doctor who is taking very good care of me.
And to add to the unethical and unprofessional behavior of this office, I asked where Dr. Zaid moved to, Dr. Makani claimed she "retired", no longer practicing and she is traveling with her husband. Not True! I found that she has moved to another practice on Garden View in Encinitas. I will be informing Dr. Zaid of what this office is telling her patients. Frightening practice!

Dr. Makani is excellent. I have been seeing her for over 10 years now. She has always taken the time to listen to me, asks pertinent questions, helped me find a new GP when I was unhappy with the one I was going to, and recommended that I seek a 2nd opinion on a different health issue that did not involve obgyn issues.and it ended up that she was correct in having me seek out that 2nd opinion!
She goes the extra mile. Just recently, I developed an extremely painful UTI late on a Saturday night. Her partner, Dr. Trong (I believe that's her name) actually answered the call herself and called in a prescription to an all night CVS for which I had the number. No dealing with a service, call back time, etc. I am very pleased with Women's Integrative Health Care.

A dad's take: Dr. Makani was my wife gynecologist for more than a year starting from week 1 to week 40 and thereafter. She was always there for us. Regardless of how busy she was, we were always welcome. Every meeting, we felt like she is an experienced doctor with a stable hand who answers all our questions with poise. She is thorough and very professional, and of all things, my wife felt good just talking to her for a few mins. a guy's take: She took care of my wife's bump till the bump came out as a cute, strong, and a handsome boy. That was awesome! I strongly recommend Dr. Makani.

I saw Dr. Makani for my recent pregnancy. I had a very difficult previous pregnancy that left me nervous around medical professionals, so I was skeptical at first. Dr. Makani proved to be very calming, nurturing, informative, professional, etc -- everything you want in a doctor. She always remembered everything about me at my appointments.which has to be hard to do with so many patients.
The day of my delivery, another doctor from her group delivered my baby and was also top notch. The only (very minor) critique would be some of the office staff seemed rushed and not personable.but they always did an excellent job. Overall, having Dr. Makani helped me achieve the pregnancy I dreamed of.

I have had Dr Makani as my gyno for about 6 years now. I find her to be thorough, she never rushes me as i am the type to ask alot of questions. I have never used her as an obsetrician as I am beyond the age of having my children. I find her delightful and easy to talk to. My daughter has started using her and likes her as well.

Zero star, not one! I picked her because I read somewhere that the office she works at was all for natural birth. She made me believe I was gonna have a natural birth up until my due date and then out of nowhere, without any medical reason, she practically forced my hand to schedule a c-section. This was my first baby and I was very emotional and thought the doctor would want whats best for me. Turns out, this wasn't true at all. Now, I am pregnant with my second and I have seen couple doctors and midwives, everyone looks at my chart and asks why the hell I had c-section first time around. Anyway, If you are afraid of labor and would like a scheduled delivery, sure, go to Dr. Makani.
