Televisits bring you the quality of care you expect but allows you to do it right from your home or work. We understand that it is difficult for you to take off work/school and hope bringing you Televisits will alleviate some of that stress for certain types of visits. Make sure we have an up to date email on file.
To better serve all of our patients, we ask for your cooperation in using the emergency on-call service for extenuating circumstances and illnesses that cannot wait until the following morning when our offices are open. If you are calling from a state other than Maryland please know that we may have to do a phone consult with you instead of a televisit because of state laws.
The development and growth of children depends on their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Emotional and behavioral problems are estimated to affect one in every five children, but less than half of those children receive the help they need. Thus, Children First Pediatrics has developed the Mental Health Clinic to provide integrated care to children, teens and their families.

We have received adequate care at the facility and when my daughter was a baby I appreciated the Sunday hours. Unfortunately we were less than 10 min late for her well appointment due to beltway traffic on the way from her school. We stood in line to check in for 4 minutes. The front desk said there was no grace period. They required we reschedule the appointment and they charged a $50 late cancellation fee.
I understand that they have a schedule to keep and their time is valuable, but that seems ludicrous considering we were 8 min late and on more than one occasion I have waited in their lobby for more than 10 minutes for a scheduled appointment. In the many years I have gone there, we were rarely seen immediately and on more than one occasion we were taken back to a room only to wait for 30 minutes or more to be seen by a nurse or doctor.

I will not complain about the professional experience of the Doctors working in this office, but definitely there is some people or staff that make a very disappointing work, and that is the reason of why we removed our child from this provider. During our time receiving services from Children First Pediatrics in Silver Spring location, it was very common for the staff to leave you waiting for very long time (in most cases exceeding an hour) to see the doctors, even for annual or sick appointments, it was the same.
Our regular provider was Dr. Porras, always very professional, but if we were 5 or 10 min late (definitely no tolerance for patients but for practitioners is ok to leave you waiting), Mrs. Stein was the nurse in charge of seeing you, and she did not care at all if your kid was in pain or with fever. With her, we took our son, in that time he was about one year old, and was with high fever for about two days, and she only said "just give him Tylenol and will go away" after a very poor exam.
Two days later we went back because the fever did not stop and Dr. Burns made a complete exam and told us that our son had strep and the infection was already on his ear. This issue could be avoided if Mrs. Stein would care more about her patients. When we tried to discuss with Mrs. Stein in a different appointment our difficulties with our son to make him accepting different foods, she just said "give him beans".
I am wondering if she gives the same type of advice to all her patients. During the pandemic last year, our son had a very bad constipation problem. I tried to contact the office to see if they were able to receive us, but every time I called they hanged out the phone, which was very frustrating for us, since our son was in strong pain. I went directly to their office with my son in arms but before entering the room one of the front desk assistants yelled at me and said "stop! you cannot go anywhere!".
I told her that my son was very bad and needed a sick appointment and she yelled at me again saying "we do not have sick appointments anymore, go to the portal!" in a very aggressive mood. I just left the room without saying anything and took my son to Holy Cross. After this last horrible experience, we decided to take our son to a different provider.
We cancelled his annual appointment and took him to a different office. The new office asked them to send the medical records but they did not do it until we contact them again to ask for this. However, when we called them to ask them transferring my son's medical records to the new provider, they said that we needed to go to their office and pay $20 to receive a flash drive with his information.
I sent a check with the amount requested and several weeks later, I received a call from one of this front desk assistants saying that they did not receive payments for medical records anymore and also that I needed to download them from the patient portal. They told me that destroyed my check. When I tried to download the medical records from our son, the portal indicated us that our account was deactivated.
We had to deal with all these problems for about a year. Three weeks ago, I called them again to ask one more time for the medical records, and they asked me again for the $20. I told them what happened in the past and the front desk assistant told me "that is not true". I paid over the phone with my card but the medical records were not sent to the new provider or me.
I called very upset this morning and they sent incomplete information since they said that "I paid but they did not have any instruction about what to do". In general, this provider was very disrespectful with my family, and definitely their customer service is very disappointing. I recommend to look for a better pediatric provider.

I love everything about Children First Pediatrics. I love the physicians, the nurses, the front desk staff, and the facilities. Going to the doctors is fun for our kids and I enjoy the ease of scheduling and getting paperwork completed. I think they are creative and available with the flu vaccine clinics and sick appointments. They also pivoted nicely during the pandemic for telehealth. Overall five stars always.

My son has been a patient at this doctor's office since he was born. No matter the location or the doctor or nurse we see we always have a great experience! They answer your questions and concerns and are easy to talk to. My son loves going to the doctor and is even very relaxed when it's time to get shots! We love it here!

Children's Pediatrics is an excellent choice for parents! The doctors are super knowledgeable, patient, explain things very clearly, and are very nice. It's really easy to schedule appointments - they respond very promptly. I really like the front desk staff who is always friendly and prompt checking me in. Doctors, nurses and staff are all amazing! So friendly and my kids feel so comfortable with them!

The staff is very friendly and they work to make kids feel comfortable and the parents too! They respond to every inquiry in person or email that I have ever sent in. My kids typically see Dr. Weich and he is wonderful. I have only had good experiences with all the nurses, doctors, nurse practitioner, and front desk staff. My daughter, age 7, loves seeing Dr. Weich. She calls him the nice, funny doctor with the Tigger at home.

I love the staff at the Silver Spring office! It's always a smooth, efficient and pleasant experience from the time of intake to the time you leave. Dr. Porras and his team are upbeat, friendly and knowledgeable and most important, fabulous with the kids! All of my 3 kids have been seen at this office from birth and I'm comfortable with them as if they're my own family.

So far so good! Great experiences with all of the doctors with my 2 month old. The crew works like a clock everyone is right on top of their game. I don't have to wait for a doctor in a room for an hour. Will be switching my 4 year from her practice since I really like my experience in children's first.
