Services
The goal of Northeast Pain Management is to provide interventional pain medicine of the highest quality in a caring manner. Northeast Pain Management (NPM) is the largest pain management office in the state of Maine. Our doctors and advanced level providers have years of experience in the diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of virtually all painful conditions, including pain of the spine, nerves, muscles, joints, and more.
Many of our patients suffer from back pain or extremity pain caused by herniated discs or various other painful spine conditions. As interventional pain management specialists, we can help to diagnose the pain source and provide precise direct treatment with the assistance of fluoroscopic guidance, ultrasound guidance, and modern minimally invasive technology.
We also participate with other insurance companies, call our office and we will work with you! Patients are responsible for the services they receive. Our billing department will submit claims to all insurance companies as long as we are provided with valid insurance information. Please bring your insurance information with you to the appointment.
We figure out why you're hurting, and treat the underlying problem, or help you find someone who can. The long answer is that we diagnose and treat persistent acute and chronic pain disorders. Acute pain starts suddenly and often has an obvious cause like an injury. When this persists beyond the normal 4-12 week healing course with treatments like rest, ice, heat, progressive exercise, and over-the-counter pain medications, the treatments we offer may be instrumental in recovery.Chronic pain is arbitrarily defined as pain persisting for 3-6 months or more.

Awful practice. The treatments caused worse pain and it's impossible to get any answers about what my options are. They don't pickup the phone or return any of my calls. Also not very clean. I didn't see anything in the building get wiped down whatsoever the entire time I was there. They had a lot of people in there too.

Dr. Wise, Dr. Zopler and team are simple incredible. They treated my mother in law yesterday morning for a compression fracture in her back giving her enormous relief. Last minute need and the team came in before hours to get this done. She is 82 years old with very few options. This team is well oiled, compassionate and performing cutting edge treatment. Many thanks the NEPM

I was sent to this place for my spinal cord injury. First of all I had problem in parking my vehicle. Place was crowded and barely any place to park. Inside came the second surprise, in a tiny waiting area there is only one restroom. Patients literally were standing in a line to use this facility. My third surprise was when the nurse asked me why I came there.

I was under the impression that my doctor has already sent them the info about me (actually he did, she later told me). They insisted I should sign a waiver that I knew the possible side-effects, it is a normal procedure before surgeries, but for a cortisone shot all this was surprising. I do not have a medical insurance, I was paying for all this from my pocket and I was not willing to suffer further if something goes wrong (like paralysis & permanent nerves damage).

I was told it was just a formality, they have done these procedures at least 50,000 times with no bad experiences. I had a bad feeling therefore I left without the shot, later I read these reviews. I am glad I declined their treatment. I have some discomfort, but thank goodness nothing else is happening to me.

I have nothing but positive things to say about this practice. Wait time is very reasonable. I see Dr. Littlejohn, and he is professional, personable, and I have complete faith in him. I have been through several pain clinics, and none compare to the staff, and their willingness to accommodate the patient, more than those at Northeast Pain Management.

Appointment was made for a follow up appointment, 2 days letter a letter came with a different appointment date and time. When arriving at new appointment date and time receptionist said I called and canceled the appointment and requested the one we had scheduled in the office. I explained no such call was made and we came according to the newest appointment they sent us.

I was rudely accused of lying, and was told they could fit us in but we would have to wait because they were double booked, and that they never have made a scheduling error before. The next appointment we will go to find out results of treatment, but looking for another pain clinic. Rudeness and being called a liar is not acceptable care and better options are available.

I was diagnosed with a herniated disk and was in sever pain with limited movement. Was referred here for steroid injections. After my initial injection I started having really bad migraines, when I went in for a follow up I was told to "wait it out". Had to come back a couple weeks later and they gave me medication for the migraines. Had another appointment and was made to feel like an idiot who had no idea what I was talking about because I didn't want to be on more medication for the migraines. Was basically told I could take the medication or I could get a smaller dose of the steroid and try a vitamin C pill every morning. Dr. Littlejohn has made this experience extremely uncomfortable and I would not recommend this practice to anyone.

I had three steroid shots into my spine. Dr Weiss. Got immediate relief. The first two shots were virtually pain free, but the third hurt. But he did say to let him know if it hurt and he'd injection more slowly. It helped me a great deal. Very, very busy clinic, but I was seen on time. Pleasant nurses.
