Dr. Shapiro is an excellent doctor. I had another doctor that wanted to do surgery without doing a MRI. He was going to operate where there actually was no problems which would have been a disaster. The MRI ordered by Dr. Shapiro showed my issue to be a small cyst on a nerve. He was able to treat my problem without surgery using a platelet rich plasma injection. I went from a pain on a 10 scale of a 8 to no pain at all. I highly recommend him.

I did not have a good experience at all with Dr. Shapiro. I had some complicated issues with my feet and ankles that started in childhood and have worsened with age. While I tried to explain the issues, Dr. Shapiro zeroed in on two other issues that weren't even what I went for and didn't bother me at all. He x-rayed and sent me for ultrasounds of my feet.
A neuroma and a couple of bone spurs were found, but I wasn't even aware of them because they weren't causing any pain. They were not at all related to my main issues. When I went back, he treated these 2 issues, suggested and explained surgical options, and was about to leave the exam room without even asking about what I went to him for in the beginning.
I was wearing a brace on one ankle because my ankles were rolling out so bad that that ankle had actually sprained itself. Both ankles constantly hurt and felt very unstable. I tried again to explain the problems in my ankles. He said he didn't see a problem. I asked if I needed orthotic insoles or something. He said, "I can get you some insoles if you want them." I was so frustrated when I left that I called back and cancelled my appt for insoles.
I went to my primary care Dr and asked him to listen to the whole story on my ankles. As I talked, he asked questions that told me he understood what I was saying. Within 20 minutes, he had addressed every issue. He talked to a podiatrist and got an appt for me for the next business day. The podiatrist immediately understood my issues and fitted me with very specific insoles that come up higher on the sides of my ankles to hold my ankles steady.
My primary care Dr referred me to the Neuro-vestibular unit for therapy related to proprioception in my feet and ankles. I see that all the other reviews are very high, but my experience was not good at all. Dr. Shapiro seems to want to zero in one one issue and treat that. In my experience he does not listen when the issues are more complicated.
