The physicians of Gastrointestinal Associates, Inc. are all Board Certified in Gastroenterology. Each physician has at least 5 additional years of training beyond college and medical school. Our physicians are active members of many professional gastroenterology and hepatology societies. Because our physicians are sub-specialists limiting their scope of care to diseases of the digestive system in adults, patients need to remain under the care of a primary physician.Patients under the age of 16 should receive their GI care from a pediatric gastroenterologist.
We respect the confidence that you and your primary physician place in us when choosing our practice for your care. Our dedicated physicians and staff will evaluate and treat your gastrointestinal disorders with sensitivity, compassion, confidentiality and professionalism. We regard the doctor/patient relationship as sacred and believe that it is built upon trust and mutual respect. All of the physicians at Gastrointestinal Associates provide care for patients with a broad array of gastrointestinal illnesses and complaints.
Gastrointestinal Associates has developed a program which allows healthy individuals to schedule screening colonoscopy without the need for an office visit before the procedure. If your physician has suggested that you have a colonoscopy you may qualify for this program. Of course, not all patients will be able to safely undergo colonoscopy without a more detailed evaluation of their health history and their risks for the procedure.
These medications are mainly used for gastroesophageal reflux disease/ heartburn, and treatment/prevention of ulcers. Provide bulk to the stool. They can be used to treat both constipation and diarrhea and may be helpful in many gastrointestinal problems. A current and easy-to-read resource. This is a good overview of IBD with chapters on pregnancy, alternative medicine, and IBD in children and adolescents.

I had a colonoscopy with Dr Christina Brown. She was caring, attentive, explained everything. I would highly recommend her and this practice for your GI health

Everyone was so great. I had such a bad issue with my insurance that had nothing to do with them and they were so patience with me and helped to the best of their abilities. I'm so grateful. Sylvia, Naima and the others that helped, Thank you so much.

My experiences with Dr. Sachdeva have been excellent. I found her extremely competent and caring. I have only heard great things about some of the others in this practice. Yes, I know it takes forever sometimes to reach any Jefferson system office by phone. I did not have as long a phone wait with this group as I do with other Jefferson offices. There was one member of the Chalfont that was extremely unpleasant to me and, I assume, other clientele. That is unacceptable but the great care I received from Dr. Sachdeva was the critical reason I will continue with this practice.

My first colonoscopy was today with Dr. Frates. Both Dr. Frates and the anesthesiologist were extremely professional and attentive to my needs. I was nervous and they made me feel completely comfortable. The nurses, Nicole and Lisa, were also wonderful! I highly recommend this place. My procedure was performed in the Levy Bldg.

This place is the biggest joke of a doctor's office I've ever seen. You'll wait two months for an appointment only to be cancelled just before the scheduled appointment for multiple unbelievable reasons and rescheduled in two more months. Doesn't matter to the arrogant receptionists that you're in severe pain and need to be seen ASAP. Do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else. These people are part of a large medical corporation and are too big to care for individual patients. The office staff are absolute clowns.

I have had only very positive experiences with the physicians in this practice. The three stars reflects real problems with their phone system and staff. There are frequently long waits on the phone, up to 45 minutes on one occasion to schedule an appointment, and no suitable phone option to have questions answered about scheduled procedures. One staff member was not helpful and not personable. The practice could do better in creating a more positive patient experience especially given the stressful nature of preparing for a procedure.

Updated review and lowered rating. Had an appointment for a procedure but I had the bad luck of getting sick on several occasions and had to reschedule a few times. Each time, I gave notice before the appointment. I never just no-showed. The last time I phoned, instead of getting a sympathetic response, I was informed by the automaton secretary that I was rescheduling for the fifth time - it was actually the third, not that that should matter. Dumbfounded, I asked if they were tracking reschedules - was it x # of strikes and then no soup for me?

I got the response " the doctors are tracking it" At that point, I told the secretary I was outraged and done with the practice. I wanted the doctor to call me and I asked her to forward my records to me. Neither of these things happened. Below is my review before the last experience. I still have no gripe about the doctor, only the attitude of the staff and those who instruct them to treat patients the way they do.

Original review: I like Dr. Berman - straightforward, knowledgeable, good bedside manner. My only gripe is that the automated phone menus make contacting the practice unnecessarily frustrating and impersonal. For a practice of this size, it seems unnecessary - it isn't a major hospital, just a group practice, but talking to a person isn't much easier than contacting Blue Cross.

Please, if you are a person of color or specifically black do yourself a favor and don't come here-they do not want to assist you. I had an appointment scheduled here through the nurse navigator at my insurance company. Upon arrival to this appointment staff stated they didn't think my insurance was accepted. I had to call my insurance company and have them on the phone trying to verify eligibility.

It took an hour or more with the staff yelling at me and refusing to help for them to confirm yes my insurance was accepted. I offered multiple times to reschedule but instead they had me seen which threw off their schedule. I let the doctor know I offered to reschedule and she was like "yeah you're ruining the schedule." Dr. Christina Brown was extremely rude to me and talked down to me and rushed the appointment.

She looked at me and said "do you even work" as if that was small talk. When I let her know I'm a college graduate working in early intervention she rolled her eyes. They refused to send me for additional testing or anything just said here's linzess now leave. She wouldn't talk to me about diet anything. I'm sharing this review some time after because in this climate I'm hoping to stop another poc from having a poor experience.

I've been through three doctors here. Going to try one more time. Wait time for an appointment or even to get somebody on the phone will be at least a half an hour. Was having a colitis attack. Would not prescribe a steroid to get me back in shape. Waited two weeks for test results Only to find out 10 minutes before I needed to go on vacation that they ordered the wrong test results. Did not listen to me until I flipped And lost my S.

Gave incorrect advice that exacerbated my condition. Did not return calls promptly, despite leaving messages in two places, including the one they suggest in their 5-minute phone introduction. Left me in great pain for 3 days. Hold times to talk to anyone are 20 minutes. Ten years as my doctor, alwsys paid on time, always showed up on time. Never complained. Got nothing in return when I needed it most. First office I ever fired and left. Expect more from your providers. They are paid extrememely well.
