Services
The physicians at Eye Centers of Ohio are experts in the field of Ophthalmology. Whether you need an annual diabetic screening, you are experiencing symptoms of cataracts or require surgical vision correction, our goal is to ensure you receive the most compassionate and comprehensive care. Our team of doctors provide the latest treatments and procedures to monitor and treat most eye diseases.
Not long ago minor surgery meant a night in the hospital. Today improved technology and techniques let you have minor surgery with little discomfort and return home the same day. At the Institute for Refractive and Intraocular Surgery Center, our highly trained physicians and professional staff take the extra time to make you comfortable before, during, and after your surgery.
LASIK surgery can dramatically improve a person's vision by reducing refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. During the LASIK procedure, an instrument called a microkeratome creates a thin corneal flap. Harnessing the precision of the excimer laser, the surgeon reshapes the cornea, improving the eye's ability to refract light. The flap is then replaced in its original position. LASIK is performed as an outpatient procedure and many people return to work the next day.
Cataracts occur as part of the normal aging process. Studies show that virtually everyone over the age of 65 has some cataract formation in their eyes. The good news is, cataract procedures are one of the most commonly performed surgeries in the United States. Keeping with tradition, we continue to be leaders in technology, introducing the area's only ORA analysis system.

I had a procedure done in April 2021. The Doctor I saw was very dry and unkind in my initial appointment. I specifically commented on his lack of kindness and bedside manor and on the day of the procedure he was much kinder to me. The receptionist must have spoken to him about it. I received multiple billing for my labs and appointments and paid them all promptly. 14 months after the procedure I received another bill, a larger bill.
When I reached out to billing, the first person I spoke to was kind but was confused as to why I was just receiving a bill. I was transferred to the manager and she was very Rude and told me things that were not true and did not match the statement sent to me. The procedure was done effectively, but kindness and professionalism greatly lacked at this office. This will not be my first choice in specialty ophthalmology again!

I took my grandmother to her appointment it was at 10am we arrived early to check in and they dilated her eyes and sent us back to wait in the lobby where we sat for and hour and we were never seen I asked the young woman at the front desk how much longer she thinks it's going to be and she tells me we are next but then the proceeds to call two others after being told we were next my grandmother was tired of waiting and decided she wanted to leave this was completely terrible

I called to see if eye centers of ohio has confocal exams for korneal neuralgia, and a girl named Trinity was super rude disrespectful and she yelled at me. And when asked to speak to someone else she said no. I just want to know if i have it. I just want to get looked at. : For the last year i have been unable to leave my house because of the pain.

Very poor experience. Making the appt as a new patient, my 1st question was, "Do you take Humana insurance?" Answer: yes. Booked, showed up, nice receptionist. Called back by tech (Mark) and was scolded for having my contacts in. Never told not to! Did not have a case, had to be re-tested once they were removed, . Generally a perturbed tech throughout the preliminaries.
Great doc (Dr. Smit) and very thorough exam. Was surprised that I needed a separate appt for contacts. Then very disappointed to learn that neither glasses nor contacts were covered by Humana there. That was my first question! Needless to say, I will not be returning to Eye Centers of Ohio on Frank Rd. In North Canton. Too bad. Excellent doc, but very subpar service otherwise.

I have never been able to see so well. The office and surgery staff are friendly and caring. The surgeon did a wonderful job. They took time to listen to my concerns and chose the best possible outcome for my vision. Office and surgery center are convenient locations. Some of the wait times were a little tedious. But overall I am absolutely thrilled with my new unassisted vision.

The doctors and the medical staff are caring and great. The office staff is semi-incompetent. They cannot take messages properly, do not send medical records to other physicians as promised, and don't even turn on the phone when they are supposed to be open. The optical department didn't even bother to tell me when to expect my order. Expect great physicians, but beware of office staff.
