My daughter has been seeing Dr. Sexton for five years and I have nothing but great things to say about him and the office staff. He is very attentive and seeks the best treatment for the patient. He works collectively with the patient, always making sure you are comfortable with the treatment plan. His bedside manner is amazing. The office has good parking and the wait time to see the doctor is so refreshing.
The front office staff is so accommodating with appointments and when needed, changing appointments. She really is a gem. I have recommended Dr. Sexton to numerous friends and family, they all agree, he is the best of the best.

I'd like to post an update to my original review from a few years ago. Just wanted to say that Soleil at the front desk as well as Dr. Sexton are both very kind, courteous, professional, and make the appointment process extremely easy and efficient. I can't remember the last time I had to actually sit down and wait in their waiting room, which sadly is not the norm at other MD offices (we're talking an hour + wait at other providers in the Irvine area).
The added perk is that Dr. Sexton is an artist and you get to see his beautiful paintings, both in the waiting room as well as in the exam room. Soleil is always a pleasure to talk to and treats you like an old friend, making the experience very personable and enjoyable. She also has extremely good memory, which is great if you're a returning patient.
She will pick up right where you left off. This office is very attentive and respects the time of its patients, which is important and not so easily said about others. Thank you for all that you do! I appreciate you! - Keith

Yes both the office nurse and doctor are professional and taking covid precautions. They leave their front door open for ventilation.the nurse and doctor give you a lot of space. And they do not book patients back to back. Therefore, you don't wait in the waiting room with lots of ppl. And the doctor was able to help me with my skin issue and answered all my questions. I appreciate the professionalism and the real precautions they are taking unlike other offices I have been to.

First, no problem with Dr. Sexton himself. He was attentive and knowledgeable. My issue is with the office and billing procedures. Has a high deductible patient, I would have to pay out of pocket once insurance is settled. They wanted my social security # which I never divulge, so she said that's requested in case I don't pay the bill. In the absence of that, a credit card was requested.
I have NEVER been asked for a credit card (or had social required) by ANY medical practice. The thought that the assumption is that I MAY not pay my bill is just appalling. Someone else wrote here that this place is all about the money. I guess that it is. I won't be going back.

I have continued to see Dr. Sexton for all of these years! I've also referred my husband and his family to Dr. Sexton as well as many coworkers and friends. Last year my husband and I had to switch insurance providers which unfortunately meant Dr. Sexton was out of network. Soleil (I need to correct this if I'm spelling her name wrong) is still super on top of it (of course!) and was able to break pricing down for me with amazing detail and patience. Going to see Dr. Sexton is always a joy and our whole family trusts his judgement and care.

I was skeptical of making an appointment with this office, due to some of the negative reviews. However, I proceeded and had a great experience. I tried to scheduled an appointment with two other dermatologist in the area, but they were booked for weeks and I required immediate attention for my situation. I called Dr. Sexton office and was able to get an appointment the next day and the office manger was really friendly. Also, she provided me with all the information and paperwork required to make my first visit easy and reduce the wait time, which I really appreciated.
I met with Dr. Sexton and he was completely professional, attentive, friendly and relatable. Also, he was patience and didn't rush to get to the next patient as some doctor work and treat you as a number. In regards to billing, if you have insurance, it's wise to call and know what type of visit will be covered and what your health insurance plan will cover and will not.
The office can not make the decision and are only there to provide the service. Therefore, do your homework before walking into any doctor's office. Health insurance is tricky, but it's there for your benefit and for your knowledge. Thanks

I've visited Dr. Sexton a few times this year regarding various skin issues. After being misdiagnosed from a previous doctor, Dr. Sexton actually did some tests on me, unlike the other doctor. When I asked if I should get additional tests done, he had deemed them unnecessary. I feel like a doctor who was all about the money would have conducted extra tests just to cash in, but he didn't and I appreciated that.
He also did a biopsy on a suspicious mole that I could not see. He is very thorough, kind, and professional. I didn't experience any pain with needles or biopsies.and I'm afraid of needles. He does what he can with the situations he is presented with and offers other solutions and referrals if he cannot help or if my skin issues become something he is unable to treat. I've recommended my friends and family to him. I'm just glad I am getting over my fears of being poked and prodded and that is all thanks to Dr. Sexton for doing such a great job. The office manager is also wonderful to work with. Very kind people.

I do not like leaving negative reviews. This one is an exception because it is so well deserved. My wife, who was pregnant with our first child, went to see him and entrusted him in the appointment. The long story short is she had basic, normal tests done, and was charged over $1600 for the visit. We dealt with Rhonda afterwards who agreed with us that this was an extreme over charge for the visit.
But the reality is Dr. Sexton does not care what the cost for patient is (he wants to make profit only), and I cannot emphasize how terrible of a practice he has from a personal/human level. Our family is not without means, but it frustrates the heck out of me to see a dermatologist take advantage and leverage insurance like this guy. Very sad.

Dr. Sexton is very professional and honest. I have had on and off acne problems for a while. He told me to not put anything on my face (no lotion, serum, first serum etc etc). With a few rounds of topical treatment, my acne is under control. I've asked him about a bunch of other cosmetic procedures to improve my skin texture, and he told me the risk outweighs the benefit. I love how honest and direct he is. The receptionist is friendly and warm. I definitely recommend Dr. Sexton.

I went to see Dr Sexton for a mole that was located behind my ear and I could hardly see and it looked weird. I read all the reviews on yelp and google, he seems like a descent Doctor and who knows what he is doing, called a week before and I was anxious about the appt, I was not sure if I should get it checked. since the mole was there for last 20 years and nothing changed.
I was not paying attention until my boyfriend mentioned it to me and he asked me to check it with dr. The front desk lady was friendly, the office checked my insurance in advance and I paid the copay. Dr Sexton was very nice and caring doctor. Of course I ended up did biopsy bc the mole looked suspicious (I knew I have to do it) but Dr Sexton was very gentle and kind, during the biopsy, even the numbing injection was painless (less than my acupuncture dr's needle), It was very easy and painless procedure. Dr called me back the next day for the result. Dr Sexton's office makes you calm and peaceful.
His animal paintings in every room tells the Dr's personality. During the consultation, he kindly explained skin condition, procedures, and possible risks. Overall, I had a very good experience with Dr Sexton and his staff.

Dr Sexton is probably the most professional Dermatologist I've ever seen. He's very attentive to details, listens carefully to all my concerns. He spends plenty of time with me, I've never felt rushed. His staff is great, very knowledgeable. His office is very clean with a beautiful salt water aquarium in the waiting room along with his own paintings on the walls!

Dr. Sexton is an excellent dermatologist. He is also a really nice guy. I am a busy person and so I especially appreciate that he respects my time and does not keep me waiting in either the reception area or examination room. I can't say the same for some of the other doctor's I've seen. I highly recommend Dr. Sexton.

I met Dr. Sexton this morning, having just moved to the area. My previous dermatologist had found skin cancer, and I was concerned that a dermatologist would refer me to a plastic surgeon for removal. Dr. Sexton spent a great deal of time explaining the type of skin cancer I had, as well as a thorough examination, finding other skin cancers I was unaware of.
He treated me right then and there, taking his time, and performing pain free surgery. He also took the time to explain care for the sites, and I felt confident when he said he will call me when the lab results come back in that he will call. They got me into an appointment without a long wait, which is what I was used to, taking over a month to see my previous dermatologists. Dr. Sexton was friendly, cordial, and informative. Soli in the front office is very helpful, took the time on the phone to help me get ins. straightened out, and is very friendly. The office itself is immaculate.

My husband and I wanted to get some moles checked and so my internist recommended Dr Sexton. When I first called to make the appointment, they were very easy to work with. We were able to get back to back appointments. The front office lady was very polite and friendly and efficient. My experience with the doctor was also very positive. He took his time, was very thorough and explained some things to look for and why some things were no big deal.
Since I had a few suspect moles, we went ahead and removed them for biopsy. He was so gentle and it didn't hurt besides a small prick for the numbing agent. I was so surprised! I also found him to be quite knowledgeable as he knew about my medical condition that most doctors don't about. I would recommend to a family member and will return.

I am very pleased with my experience with not only Dr. Sexton, but also his receptionist (pronounced Soul-Lee, but not sure on the spelling). I came to Dr. Sexton for the purpose of Accutane. I had been suffering from "moderate" acne since puberty and am now 21. I use quotation marks around "moderate" because while not as dense as some acne, it was very strong and persistent.
Instead of "breakouts, " my acne just kept coming and going, almost like clockwork. Nothing I tried would touch it. Enter Accutane. I am on my final month of treatment and I can say with certainty that this was the only medication to show credible improvement. It is great to see results and know exactly what caused them! I also appreciate the personalized dosage. Dr. Sexton caters his treatments specifically to you, so that each treatment is unique!
Another thing that is unique? I believe it was my second or third visit before I was able to calm myself enough to take in the decor - an aquarium and paintings. I was intrigued to see them signed as Sexton. "Doctor paints, " she said to my amazement. Pictures of wildlife follow you throughout the office. I am a fine arts photographer, so having a doctor who paints, and paints very well, was an unexpected perk! - Keith

Dr. Sexton is the best dermatologist I've ever had. I was his patient 3 yrs ago. I moved for 3 yrs and recently came back to work in Irvine. I had to look him up and saw him again for the moles and warts on my face. I'm glad he's still accepting the same insurance that I had previously. I came in this morning to get my moles looked at.
I requested to get 4 things removed. I was done within 30 min. I love his office, his manner and the front desk lady. Everyone is nice and super friendly. I've recommended him to all my friends.

I've been seeing Dr. Sexton for about 3 years for everything from mole removal, skin checks, and small minor cosmetic things (like botox). I had one lumpy reaction to one of the injectables about two years ago and doc called me right away and followed up and had contingency plans. He's fantastic. (Turns out I was overly worried and this particular injectable gets lumpy then goes flat). I've never had droopy eye etc or other side effects from botox that are controllable by the doctor (I get dry eye but that's my own fault - I want it close to the eye!) Very conservative approach to cosmetic procedures.
Never pushed for anything more than I wanted. In fact he helps me see things without the "you always need to look 30" lenses. I've had two skin checks and several moles removed too. That can always be anxiety producing. He phoned next day with results of biopsies. I've had minor things taken off of arms and face with precision. Going for another skin check and a few moles that look abnormal to me. Gave me an Rx for Lmx for topical anesthetic ahead of time - at least psychologically it works lol Great follow up, truly caring doctor, relatively easy to get in to see the doc, receptionist is always prompt and helpful and sweet.
Yes it's expensive to go to a doctor if your insurance doesn't cover it. I've found my insurance covers most of my non-cosmetic procedures just fine. If you're looking for a freebie or handout don't go. I see a few reviews complaining about price. Remember you aren't just paying for the 15 minutes in the office! You're paying for years of training and medical school and overhead. Doctors should make money - this isn't a socialist society (yet). You get what you pay for.

I had 3 IPL sessions with Dr. Sexton. The treatments exceeded my expectations, and Dr. Sexton was a pleasure to have as my physician. He was always happy to answer all of my questions. His office had a relaxed atmosphere, and I never felt rushed like I often do in other physician's offices. I highly recommend Dr. Sexton.

Initially I was a bit nervous to visit a new doctor for the first time. However, the moment I walked into the Dr. Sextons office I felt at ease. The receptionist was very welcoming, warm and friendly. She greeted me with a smile and was very polite when requesting that I fill out the medical history and insurance forms. When I had questions she answered them with patience and compassion.
After I completed and turned in the paperwork, I found myself relaxing on the comfortable chairs, admiring the paintings on the walls and checking out a wide variety of interesting magazines. It all made for a very relaxing and positive experience. Soon a staff member guided me to one of the patient rooms and told me Dr Sexton would arrive in a few minutes.
As I waited, I noticed additional paintings on the wall and more specifically the artist's signature. It read a familiar name. Sexton. I assumed it was the work of the doctor's wife or children. After only a few minutes, Dr Sexton arrived. His calm and friendly demeanor was evident right away as we begin to discuss what the reason for my visit was.
What I noticed immediately was that Dr Sexton looked me right in the eye and how intently he was listening. This led me to feel like he was genuinely interested in my medical condition and was truly committed to helping me. After informing me of his diagnosis of Psoriasis and then the potential treatments that were available, Dr. Sexton carefully explained all of the advantages and disadvantages of each option.
He then calmly answered all my questions. He made me feel very comfortable and put my mind at ease knowing that my specific condition would be easily resolved. Once we concluded the medical portion of my visit I inquired about the paintings in the patient room as well as the front office reception area. I asked who the artist was. Dr Sexton sheepishly smiled and confessed that he, not his wife or children, was the actual artist. Thus, not only is he a fantastic doctor but a talented and creative individual as well!
As I departed the patient room and headed back towards the reception area, a friendly staff member greeted me. I was given my prescription and other paperwork and then preceded to leave the office. As I walked towards the door the receptionist called out "it was very nice to meet you and please call us if you have any questions or need anything" It was a nice touch and perfect ending to a very positive experience. Oh, and by the way, the prescription worked perfectly and my medical condition has cleared up.
Thank you Dr. Sexton! I would highly recommend Dr. Sexton to anyone who seeks expert medical advice from a caring and compassionate doctor with a professional and friendly staff.

Dr. Sexton helped my mother tremendously with her aging spots on her face that has bothered her for years. He was patient and reassuring to her that the procedure would do the trick. And it did! She even flies down to Irvine just for treatment out of state. We would not go to any other dermatologist other than Dr. Sexton. His office is professional and prompt. Overall, a continued wonderful experience with Dr. Sexton time and time again. Thank you Dr. Sexton!
