I received a bill in the mail and when I showed up to pay the bill they told me my balance was zero and I didn't owe anything. More time when by and I got another bill in the mail saying it was past due so I called them and I was told the same thing, that I had a balance of zero. I just received another today saying that my account will be sent to a collection agency and i am currently still on hold and have been for almost twenty minutes. Very unimpressed with this health care center and how they have been unable to fix this problem for the third time now.

Getting the bad out of the way this place used to be a REALLY easy place to get in for an appointment but as time has passed it is harder and harder to get in to see anyone. My doctor (at prairie star) got fired a I think around 2 years ago now and without warning I was suddenly having to look for a new doctor for my husband and I. We both found ones we thought we would do well with and love the doctors. Lately though it's almost impossible to get in to see anyone.
Several times now we have been directed to same day care because appointments are so far out for our doctors, but neither I nor my husband trust same day care as experiences across different places with same day care has left us not trusting same day cares. Not just prairie star. I just tried to make an appointment with my doctor today and she is booked out till JUNE 8TH!
It's April 29th! That's insane! And I'm having to see a nurse practitioner rather than my doctor to get in with any kind of speed. TLDR they desperately need to hire more doctors! Appointments being this far out is absolutely insane! I used to be able to see my old doctor within a week or two. However despite this they get 4 stars because I did really like my old doctor and from the couple of visits I have had with my new doctor I have had good experiences.
My new Dr is Dr. Nelson, who specializes in womens health, and she's been fantastic around my PCOS. I also love Dr. Smith in pediatrics. After a HORRIBLE experience with the Hutch Clinic years ago I moved my son to Dr. Smith and he has always taken fantastic care of my son. We've butted heads a couple times, but at the end of the day he's an amazing doctor and has always helped me with my kid.
My son and I are both Autistic and he is willing to help talk me through things when I incessantly need more information and has generally been decently knowledgable about Autism. He also helped me get the ball rolling on getting my son his diagnosis. Though this was one of those times we butted heads a bit because as an Autistic myself I think I was just spotting the signs before he did.
He always goes for the simple explaination first before jumping to something possibly more serious. Once when I thought my son had broken his leg, he assured me it was likely not broken and just bruised. After an x-ray, sure enough he just had a (if I remember right) bruised bone. He's also not been afraid to say "I don't know" and seek outside help for another opinion.
Something that I LOVE about the man. The fact that he can say "I'm not 100% sure" and still help my kid is something I appreciate so damn much. Also. Despite the fact that getting in to see mine or my husbands doctor is always incredibly difficult, it continues to be easy to get my son in to see Dr. Smith. Lastly, he's very good with my kid and is usually able to keep him calm and help him through a visit with ease. GREAT bedside manner with the kiddo. Maybe helps he reminds me a tiny bit like Blippi (dunno if he would find that to be a compliment lol)

Went in to get a Covid test, they were slammed due to the new variant surge, we waited about 30m and then saw Emily, she made the experience GREAT and was real gentle on the swab test unlike other nurses or doctors that had previously done it. We really appreciated her gentleness and great attitude. Will definitely be coming back to this location

The absolute worst place to get a covid test done, ever. Me and my boyfriend got one on a very early Thursday, were promised 24 hour turn around for results, and proceeded to not get them until a literal week later. We missed our flight, got stuck in Chicago, and he later ended up being positive long long after we tested. Just got our results saying both of us were negative. Don't get tested here. They will forget about you entirely and string you along. Absolutely lovely people working at the office though. Overall just don't go.

My brother went in to the doctor because he has blood clots and other serious health issues and it was a fight to get medicine. He had his appointment in the morning and the doctor said to start the new meds that day. He had to fight to get the medicine to his pharmacy and they finally sent his meds to his pharmacy 10 minutes before they closed. That's ridiculous, he has heart problems and he can't even get his heart medicine sent to get it. I'm not impressed with the staff at all.

My family switched to Prairie star after having such horrible experiences with Hutchinson clinic and their billing office. It isn't perfect, but it is so much better than Hutchinson clinic! The staff is friendly, doctors are, and they are willing to take payments on our bill. What a family of five who has A lot of medical problems we have a lot of medical expenses. Prairie Star has been taking $25 payments without complaint. The gal in the billing office is super nice and does it make you feel bad for having to make payments. That means a lot!
