About 15 years ago my family and I were tent camping and vacationing in the area. I awoke on a Saturday morning only to feel like there was something in my eye. I couldn't see in a mirror what it was to be able to remove it. We headed into Charleston for our planned first visit to see this historic and beautiful city. As the day wore on my eye began to hurt and water more and I knew I needed to see a physician.
Unfortunately we were in an unfamiliar area and walk in clinics were pretty much not in existence at the time. It was late afternoon and we did not know where to go. As we walked the city and it's side streets we literally stumbled upon the beautiful building called ACCESS HEALTHCARE. To our amazement the office was open. I went inside and Dr. Albenberg came out of the back and greeted me.
After discussing my situation he shared the office had only opened up for him to see one of his established patients but if I didn't mind waiting a little bit he would be glad to try to help me. Despite being from out of state and my insurance not being recognized here, he spent about an hour numbing my eye, administering a contrast and locating and extracting a small foreign object. Dr. Aldenberg charged a very nominal fee to take care of me.
He explained their medical model of patient care and billing which I found to be brilliant. I wish something like that were available to me back home in Michigan. Dr. Aldenberg, I am not sure that you remember me walking in unexpected that day. After 15 years I clearly remember you, your kindness and wonderful care! Thank you!

Prompt attention and easily accessible, reasonably priced. My daughter had an unexplained rash that was getting worse, so we walked-in one morning and were seen right away. Peter was welcoming and explained that insurance wasn't taken and most visits cost $110. Both Kaitlin and Katie were attentive to the situation and sorted through all the possible irritants. Now onto other vacation activities.

While visiting Charleston, I called Access emergency and they told me to come right in. Dana met with me 30 minutes before closing and I was extremely grateful. I was sick with a horrible stomach virus and desperate for help. Not only did Dana make every effort to properly treat me, she was empathetic to my pain and suffering, thought outside of the box and selflessly didn't care how late it was. She made me feel comfortable, calm and safe! I am forever grateful to Dana for her patience and excellence in care.

I took my father to Access Healthcare sliced his finger open using yard tools. Dr. Dave was quick, attentive, thorough and kind. He put us both at ease as he stitched the avulsion and even called to follow up the next day. Best of all, we were in and out of Access Healthcare in less than an hour - way less time, money and stress than we would have experienced in the Emergency Room. Lauren, the Physician Assistant, was also great!

I don't usually review healthcare, but my experience was extremely unprofessional. about two weeks ago, i had a sinus infection and began to react badly to my medicine. i was in extreme pain & could not keep fluids down, and wanted to be checked out in person and potentially tested before heading to my parent's house so I could see my primary care physician.
I saw that this place was open 24 hours and took an uber in the pouring rain, only to be told I had to make an appointment and had to wait outside in a tent. when i say it was pouring, it was absolutely pouring, and quickly began flooding in said tent. this tent was also sketchy, there were used medical tests on the table which made me very uncomfortable. as it continued flooding, I kept calling the office to make an appointment and my call kept getting rejected.
I walked back up to ask why, and apparently in that moment they had decided to close. What I really didn't appreciate is they left me in the pouring rain when I was clearly very sick and did not have a ride, and I was standing in a flooding tent for about 15 minutes. I understand they were just trying to be safe with Covid restrictions, but I felt that this was seriously unprofessional and I did not feel safe.
Will be avoiding this place. I'd like to also mention I don't recall the nurse wearing a mask in general. I do not recommend this place in the slightest. this situation could have easily become an emergency situation if I wasn't able to have a ride, and I'm almost certain it worsened my condition.

I just got a rapid covid test done at access healthcare, and had the results back in 20 mins. My nurse Kaitlyn was great, she was incredibly helpful and did a great job. The guy Peter who answered the phone on the other hand, was rude and uninformative. So in other words, don't let Peter steer you away because the people actually working with you are nice and professional.

Dr. Dave and all the staff at Access are incredible. They not only listen to your issues but also work individually to ensure the highest levels of professionalism. When you enter the office, you are greeted with a warm welcome and made to feel comfortable immediately. The staff has requested follow-ups and even checked in on me a few days after an appointment. I could not recommend Access any higher and think Dr. Dave as well as his entire staff are excellent!

FANTASTIC MEDICAL EXPERIENCE! My husband became ill while we were vacationing in Charleston. I called the clinic who saw him right away. Genny was there waiting for us and checked for a variety of things from the outset. She quickly hydrated him and kept him there until he was ok to leave. Genny was fantastic from start to finish; knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
I would recommend this clinic to anyone. They are conveniently located near the hospital and open 24 hours. Thank you for taking care of my husband and allowing us to get home.

I was on vacation for a week in Charleston for the first time and got sick my second day. I called at 7 in the morning and they got me in at 8:30. I had a newer nurse practitioner and she was very thorough and answered all my questions. I tested positive for strep and they had antibiotics for me in the office so I didn't have to go to a pharmacy and wait and all that!
Everyone was very sweet and personable! They don't file insurance they had us send in the invoice but even then it was affordable. Also the place is beautiful! Very small parking lot in the back but it was free parking so can't complain!

Dr Dave is unfamiliar with common medical problems. He grossly mis diagnosed me. I went in after having vertigo for over a month. I was very scared and in a panic because nothing was helping my vertigo after I had tried everything at home. The Dr was more concerned with talking about my anxiety around the issue than addressing the actual issue. He kept asking me what I thought was wrong!
My response was I had no idea that is why I was there. He then prescribed me prednisone, afrin and cbd oil, which is completely crazy. The nose spray and steroids made everything 1000x worse and apparently he has a reputation for messing up prescriptions. I went to another Dr that confirmed there was an pretty serious problem that he could have easily diagnosed and treated if he was well versed in common medical issues.
The very nice girl that checked me in and took my vitals was more knowledgeable than the Dr and it was her first day there! Also, you are only supposed to Afrin (nose spray) for max 3 days, he told me take it for a week! And he didn't give me enough prednisone to taper off as you are supposed to when taking steroids.

I came to port on a diverted cruise ship, I saw P.A. Sarah she was amazing listened to what was wrong understood the severity of it because I was about to get back on a cruise to Bermuda. Got me all the medicine in office I did not need to go to another pharmacy for it. I wish we had a place like this in NJ. Highly recommend

I was in Charleston for the adoption hearing for my sister and her son. I threw my back out the night before and could barely walk. Access was a godsend! Ginny told us to come right over and I was seen and treated so thoroughly and quickly. I wish there was a clinic like this back home in Chicago! Please consider branching out to the windy city!

We are visiting from out of town and our 3yo tumbled and got a gash on her forehead. We were nearby, called, and they told us to come right over. We were in and out within 20 min (including checking in and gluing the wound shut). They were super nice. They don't process insurance, but gave us a super-bill to submit when we get home (it was about $130 for the visit/glue and an extra $100 for off hours urgent care charge- about 2 zeros less than our last er room vacation visit!). Hope we never have the need to go again, but it was as pleasant as a visit to an uc office could possible be.

This place is just out of the ordinary. We were visiting Charleston from overseas and needed to see a doctor. They gave us a very convenient appointment without any problems. Staff, nurse and doctor were very sensitive to our need. A prescription was provided for us and we were able to enjoy the rest of our vacations very nicely. All people working there are super nice and prices are remarkably convenient. By the way, the place decoration is outstanding if you like vintage medical furniture. Thanks Peter and Karina. God bless you.

I was in town for 5 days a (3 day business meeting & 2 day tourist weekend add on the weekend before the meeting.) On Saturday night at 9pm I realized I had a probable UTI -Urinary Track Infection. Access was able to get me in the next morning, Sunday at 7:30am. A few minutes after my Saturday night called Access called me back and said if I'd prefer I could come in now as Dr David Albenberg was coming into the office anyway- would I like to come in now? Yes:) I was seen by the Dr in less than 15 minutes, and have a quick lab test then and a consult with the Dr A big Perk- I was able to get my medications at Access as well!

Ever wish you could have the undivided attention of your physician? Access Healthcare provides little to no wait time and gives individual care to each one of their patients. Concierge medicine is not new and I'd rather pay for this level of service anytime then wait 2 hours in a waiting room. They even have a package where you can text the doctor personally! Now that's serious service. From injuries to the flu they handle it all. Chris is one the best NP I've ever met and she cares for her patients.

While on vacation during an abnormal winter stom in Charleston, I started to feel ill and was also in need to some prescriptions since I only packed for the trip, not planning on having flights cancelled for 2 days. I found access healthcare urgent care searching on yelp, and am I glad I did! Dr Dave and his team were phenomenal! We made an appointment and it went well. He got me everything I needed for my cold and my prescriptions. I wish Dr. Dave was in LA!

Still a patient, still a fan! Went yesterday due to seasonal allergies, Dr. Dave was professional and efficient as always. I turned down a complimentary flu shot, hope that was not a mistake. Big news they shared is that they are opening an urgent care right next to their convenient Calhoun St location. Much needed and smart:- Thanks guys!

In Charleston for business, I was in need of an urgent care before flying back home. I googled and Yelped for reviews of urgent after hours care and Access came up with the best reviews. I wasn't disappointed. They got me in at 5:00 pm & I was out by 5:30. Dr. Albenberg was friendly and efficient. I felt confident that my diagnosis was correct because he asked lots of questions while listening attentively. Not your typical medical office, it was homey, warm and comfortable. If I have the need, I'll definitely return. I wish I had a similar option back home in Cincinnati.

While traveling to Charleston for vacation, I found myself in sudden need of medical care. I found the clinic through Google Maps and called at 5:45am from DC to schedule an appointment upon my 11:30 am arrival. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a return phone call at 5:50am from Dr Albenberg, who promptly scheduled an 11:30 appointment. I was checked in immediately upon my arrival.
I was more than pleasantly surprised by the homey feel of the clinic, which is actually in a converted home. My vitals were checked within 5 minutes, I saw a doctor within 10 minutes, and was out the door within 20 minutes. medications in hand. I had read that the clinic didn't provide insurance, but they offered me papers to submit to my insurance agency.
Total bill, including meds, was $140. This is first rate healthcare at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this Urgent Care facility. It truly is "urgent" care. Thank you to everyone who assisted me in making sure I was able to continue with my vacation. I am very grateful.

Five stars and a heartfelt thank you for the time and care I received at Access Healthcare while I was visiting recently in Charleston. I had an allergic reaction of unknown origin, Benadryl was not helpful, and Access Healthcare had just closed. I spoke to the after hour attendant and was prepared to go to the hospital's ER. Less than five minutes later, the operator called back and said the doctor woukd return to the office to see me.
I so appreciated Dr. Albenberg's quick response. Not only was it late at night, but raining; he could have easily stayed home. A thank you also to his after hour service for contacting him. I was treated professionally and kindly and he even called the next day to check on me. I highly recommend David Albenberg, M.D.

My visit to Access was by far, the best visit to Urgent Care I have EVER experienced! You treated my like I had been your patient for years. I was impressed with the time and attention you gave me to ensure I felt better. We walked in and were seen immediately. After being sick for several days, you were able to quickly diagnose and treat me. The DR sat with us the whole time, ensuring I was doing ok.
I also appreciated that I didn't have to go somewhere else for the IV Meds and oral Meds, especially since we were on vacation. I left feeling much better than when I arrived. I was able to take the carriage ride and Ft. Sumter tour, and though I wasn't 100%, I made it through. To top it off, you called and checked on me once I was back home in MA; definitely unusual for any physician these days, especially one met on an Urgent Care visit. Thank you so much for your care and concern. Respectfully, Anne S & Don S, MA (You have my permission to use this.)
