I went to Genesis ER twice in 7 days I lost my vision and went blind. They didn't believe me and sent me home twice. Treating me like I must be wrong. First time saying sinuses, second telling me I was looking at them in their eyes. Had to go to OSU to get the help I needed. Ended up having Optic Neuritis due to MOG. Shame on Genesis! I'll never go there again. Update: It's been over a year now and I have transferred all of my healthcare needs to OSU and now to Cleveland Medical Center.
I wanted to add that I was treated by Genesis Healthcare for over a decade and have never gotten results. I was treated poorly and with alot of unnecessary judgement. It's actually very bittersweet losing my vision, because now I do receive the care I sought and deserve. Very unfortunate Genesis employees are giving 5star written reviews. Young, dedicated, blind, inexperienced with the world still. *And why haven't I received a note from the owner? Because they know!

Actually I give minus 5 stars. I have been sick for a year now and the first time I came into your er I was refused a blood test refused antibiotics and my neck xray somehow came back as a lung xray and and told that I didn't have infection without testing and then kicked out of the hospital. My regular doctor thru genesis also insisted that I wasn't sick like I was telling her without giving me proper testing and I could go on and on about the disrespect I have gotten at this hospital and the poor medical care on numerous other visits and now I am extremely sick and my infection has spread severely all because you have refused me of proper medical care and testing.do your jobs correctly and professionally or quit and let some one practice who cares and is wiling to save a life

If I could give it less than one star I would. I would not take my cat here. Besides shoddy and downright dangerous patient care they have tried to kill me at least three times as an inpatient (not me giving right meds, not bothering to look in on patients, not giving needed instructions on discharge -- not to mention doctors arguing right outside your door -- loudly). Details are too gruesome and lengthy to go into in a brief review but trust me this place is horrid.
All they want is the almighty $$$$$. They were okay when Good Samaritan Genesis was open. They dumped a bunch of money in Bethesda (then tore down Good Sam) and fired all their experienced staff then hired a bunch of kids right out of school who don't know their a from a hole in the ground. They also get the cheapest, least qualified doctors they can find.
Just pathetic! Update. Four years later:. I now live in Coshocton. Genesis in their effort to monopolize care in southeastern Ohio is now pushing into our community. Building a new "hospital" with no inpatient facilities. So I thought I would give them yet another chance to impress me with how far they have come. Not so much sadly. Lots of run around and attitude.
Very slow response to complaints (had to call never did get a reply from email). Pushing meds on patients, even meds I am allergic to. Wanted me to take aspirin WITH the blood thinner Warfarin. Only if you want to bleed out! Went straight to statins for cholesterol (which is the drug I am allergic to) without ever discussing diet, exercise or fish oil.
I suspect there is some hanky panky with the pharma companies on all these meds. Nope. I am done. I will drive to the Cleveland Clinic hospital in New Philly if need be. I hope they do not run our local hospital out of business though. Rant off.

Took my fiancee here to be treated for an extreme stomach issue, she's left to sit in the waiting room for six hours (from 8:30pm to 3am) and all they did was put an IV in her arm and sent right back there to sit down with no explanation as to why she needs it or when they'd actually take her back to check on her. Not worth going if you're not in any immediate risk of death.

I can only rate based on my ER and 3 East experience. I felt every healthcare professional I encountered listened to me. Also, explained things to me in a way I understood. During this experience, I was pretty sick with a very high WBC count. I received good treatment (I have underlying medical knowledge). I received everything I needed to transition into home recovery. I was very impressed, when I received a follow up phone call asking if I was able to obtain my prescriptions and how I was doing. Therefore, I would recommend this facility.

I like the care my mom gets with Dr. Parekh, however, the wait time is unbelievable every visit and today the office visit (1.5 hours in waiting room, 20 min in exam room before doctor entered) should have been a phone call about the results of a test. It truly angers me when doctors, their office staff and health care system waste patients' time as if it's just not as valuable as their time. This experience makes me wonder if the visit was to get money from Medicare?!?

This hospital system is quicky losing my trust due to recent experiences. The system seems to be more of a business first rather than a patient first approach. Phlebotomists' seem to have free reign of the halls and are constantly drawing blood, but nobody can seem to tell you why or for what reason. The physicians seem to stay hidden away, and let the PA make the occasional appearance to quickly go over the data someone entered into the computer from somewhere else.
In short poor bedside manner and not patient focused. Apparently understaffed because of long wait times, including not assisting someone to the restroom in a timely manner. Or maybe they just don't care, sometimes you get that feeling. Staff are critical of their own hospital food that is intended to nourish patients. Overall I see little to no encouragement to patients, and chaplains are never around.
It is indeed strange how one can enter for a common injury and quickly be fast tracked into needing new medications, multiple specialists and follow-up appointments. It shows me a lack in coordination of care between multiple parties. I shouldn't feel a fear for my loved ones life when they enter this place. I also shouldn't have to catch mistakes or oversights to medications that cause a bad interaction. These things are happening all too frequently!
