CentraState Medical Center is one of only 2 percent of hospitals nationwide to achieve Magnet designation for nursing excellence four times as part of the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet Recognition Program. Only 8 percent of the approximate 5,800 hospitals in the U.S. hold Magnet designation, so a four-time designation is an elite accomplishment.

Wish I could rate this hospital as zero stars because that's what it deserves. I held a nursing position here for several months and it truly felt like the longest months of my life. The inadequacy of the nursing and medical staff at Centrastate is appalling, to say the least. I witnessed one breech of protocol after another here.too many to list here.

The patient nosocomial infection rate is through the roof. The length of patient stay is triple to quadruple that of other area hospitals. Patients who can be discharged are literally held up here for days because the IDT are not on the same page (the lack of communication between team members is egregious). They have NEW nurses (2 years experience and less) training other new nurses!

How can a nurse who hasn't even experienced enough of the healthcare life be training new nurses? It's like the blind leading the blind! Doctors who have rights here couldn't care less about their patients and will purposely avoid interaction with nursing staff just so they don't have to put orders into the computer. I have never had such difficulty getting in touch with doctors regarding their patients as I did at centrastate.

There are constant delays in patient care because if this. It's sad when all you need is a Tylenol order for a febrile patient and it takes 3 calls to the MD and 3 hours later for them to put the order in. There is never a sense of compassion or urgency at Centrastate. I finally resigned after witnessing something that was too egregious for me to continue with this below average facility. There are so many better hospitals in the area. Don't go here!

I was taken to this hospital by an ambulance when I broke my ankle. ER staff was nice and quick. but when the orthopedic resident came in with the X-ray and CT results, the first word spit of this mouth were " you have a very very bad, very bad injury". I knew I ad a bad injury but did the Dr have to say this to my face ln a manner that made me feel bad about this accident When I was moved to an orthopedic floor finally in day two the first thing I was asked if I spoke English! Based on what do you ask this question!?!

When I asked to connect my charger the nurse said that it took her a while to find a outlet to plug In one of the machines she used. and that it would be impossible to change my phone. I could see the outlet from my bed but with a broke ankle not much can be done I don't want to call the nurse an extra time to ask for a bedpan because it feels like I am bothering them!

I realize that night shifts are hard. but. you chose to work here! The worst hospital I have ever been too. I am writing this in my bed in pain and I assume I should feel bad about being In pain. What a disgrace to a medical field Ah and forgot to add - when the nurse brought in my meds in the morning it was a time for her shift to be over soon so she didn't bother to go get me water, she just took it from the sink next to my bed! Such a disrespect to a patient. Never ever go to this hospital even if you are dying

I was there on 5-22 for an echocardiogram my rx said echocardiogram. The technician decided to do it with contrast and got a nurse to start the IV.i do understand that sometimes it is hard to find a vein but she put the tourniquet on and im sure almost everyone knows how that hurts. She left me for approximately 3-5 min while chatting with the tech.

I said are u serious you leave me here. Long story short she now tried to find my vein and kept poking me. I told her to stop and remove she had no clue what she was doing besides it never said on tx to do this. An echocardiogram is a sonogram unless dr wants contrast. Never again go there for anything. University radiology is so much better. It was so wrong for her to decide on her own to do this without an ordet from dr. Terrible. My arm All black and blue and hurts.

My recent medical procedure was done here due to the physician's close proximity, rather than JSMC. The staff managed to put me at ease even before my arrival. I am grateful for that, and have NO reason for complaints of any kind. Highly professional.

I went to the hospital at a very late time. They had plenty of nurses and doctors. I went to the hospital because I was having chest pains and got anxious I was having a heart attack. They did all the tests I needed and found absolutely nothing wrong. Which sucked but they did the tests i wanted and assured me I was not dying and thats all I needed to later figure out I was actually vitamin D and B12 deficient. They had me waiting for a while but the standard of care was very good.

There is only one place I will go for my therapy CentraState. Been there before and am going there now. The care given to us patients from the receptionist to the therapists is their going to any extent to make you feel better. When after your treatment you feel uncomfortable walking they hold your hand right to exit door. God Bless all of them.

The wait is always extremely long and there's always a packed waiting room. I've seen nurses/staff being rude to patients multiple times. The last time I was here a few months ago, they would not let my mother come in with me due to their rules with Covid. Which I understood but was disappointed they couldn't make an exception as I have PTSD and I am also triple vaccinated. I guess in an emergency situation if this is the closest hospital to you it's fine. But if I had extra time I'd make the drive to Jersey Shore Hospital.

Being at CentraState Hospital was unbelievably great which I didn't think about at the time. The ER was very attentive and friendly. When given a room the Nurses and the help made me feel as if I were part of their family. I was in the section which used to be the Pediatric Bldg. Very Professional as it should be.

I'm kind of partial to this group of gyms it belongs with the Robert Wood Johnson and Hamilton Clark Old bridge New Brunswick Main line the two in Princeton anyways they are some of the most complete gyms besides being some of the cleanest I mean hey everybody's got to follow rules nowadays but these gyms were always clean enough before everything happened, trainers are great, instructors are great, I haven't run across anybody bad yet if you do it would be a fluke, maybe I'm just partial to this set of gyms but they seem to always treat everybody well, if you have any questions all you have to do is ask I have not had one issue since joining a few years back and it was the first gym I had ever belonged to, , I would say enjoy it along with me and a few other people, have a great time, and remember now follow the protocols wipe things down wear your mask, get your temperature taken and they'll even help you get your vaccines so step on up and help on out

I was extremely pleased with the nursing staff and the nurse manager. Only one problem, and that is if I did not ask what pills I was being given, they would have given me a prescription for a blood thinner that I do not take. I suggest that they double check the medication before they hand it to the patient. If I had not asked I would have taken the wrong medication. Otherwise everything was wonderful. Thank you.

Went for a lumpectomy with Dr. Pellegrino. What was certainly a stressful medical condition was made so much easier with the doctor and all the staff here. From registration to release, it could not have been more comforting or easier. Everyone was helpful, caring, and experienced. Excellent first experience with CentraState.

If I could give this crap hole zero stars I would. Starting with Ruth at reception - who is the rudest, nastiest human being with the personality of a rash. People are coming into a hospital for serious reasons or dealing with a dying or sick relative and she barks at you. She's awful! I can't believe this is who they have at the front desk of a hospital.

The staff, although mostly great has terrible communication. Drs don't know what other Drs are doing, they don't have medications in house, they don't know what they are curing. This has been the worst experience ever. I would recommend any hospital other than this one.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. This hospital killed my dad. He went in because he was very weak and dehydrated from having covid. He was 84 years old but a strong 84 year old. They gave him remdesevir instead of the monoclonal antibodies. I had to fight to get my mom to stay with him. They kept wanting to intubate him of course because they make money on that.

We said no. They then put some kind of oxygen mask on him and he did not like it so he was unruly, they gave him a sedative and it did not work so they gave him another one and an hour later he coded. He did not have a weak heart. He would still be here if it were not for this horrendous lack of care this hospital gave and you know what they wrote as his cause?

They wrote covid pneumonia, because they get extra money for that. This place is a deathtrap as all hospitals nowadays are. What happened to the hippocratic oath these doctors are supposed to take? No one knew what the other one was doing and I lost my beloved dad because of their ineptitude. STAY AWAY FROM THERE.

I never leave hospital reviews but I couldn't let this go. This felt like a third world country or prison more than a hospital. The nurses that I had and the PCTs were great. However, the doctors didn't agree on anything and one surgeon had to be kicked off my case. I went into the ER and was admitted without knowing anything. I was told I needed emergency surgery and this procedure by a GI but the GI didn't have time until later in the week. LIKE I WAS GONNA STAY THERE FOR A WEEK TO SEE IF MY GALLBLADDER WAS GOING TO BE REMOVED.

I received different information from every doctor. One even told me possible cancer. I had three panic attacks and had to request Xanax. I even asked to leave and the attending said "no". Flat out "no". I called my mom hysterically crying terrified I wasn't going to get out of there. And that if I was cut into I wasn't going to make it.

I was also covid positive so infectious disease shut the whole thing down. Once they realized they couldn't operate or take more of my money, they discharged me in 20 min. I will NEVER go back there EVER again. It was such a scary experience. Not to mention I was either freezing cold or sweating like a sauna in my room. So bad. 2 1/2 days of nightmare and I needed to come home and decompress.

Emergency doctors and staff won't talk to you for more than 2-3 minutes max. Then u are left in a dark cold room on your own for hours. The specialists are not available at night so don't bother going before 9 AM. If you walk into their emergency room feeling fine, they are guaranteed to come up with something to keep you there to be able to bill your insurance. On the other hand if you walk in dying with no insurance you will be discharged a second later.

I've been to centrastate a few times and I have to say they've really gotten a lot better and even more importantly during the pandemic I can't thank them enough for not treating me differently with ailments in regards to not being vaccinated. They really do put their opinions aside and help the patient I was there last night into this morning extremely sick and they're extremely efficient, fast, and have a system down. safe to say I learned my lesson and I'm getting vaccinated once I am no longer sick.

Went to er for a possible broken foot. The minute i walked in i was greeted kindly by the security manager i believe his name is William. He got me a wheelchair and wheeled me back and forth to the check in desk. He was a very kind man! Everyone else that took care of me there were very friendly! I have been to Robert Wood and St Peters many times with my dad and there is no comparision to the excellent service i received at Centra State.

On October 7, 2021, I was a patient in Short Stay for an U/S endoscopy. The intake nurse I had that day (whose name I did not get) was LESS THAN COMFORTING. I would go as far to say this nurse was rather ABRUPT with her bedside manner. Also I would have thought a FOLLOW UP CALL WOULD HAVE BEEN FORTHCOMING AS TO HOW I WAS FEELING, GIVEN THAT I WAITED, WAITED AND WAITED FOR THE DOCTOR TO PROVIDE DISCHARGE PAPERS, WHICH WERE NOT GIVEN, NOR DID I BOTHER TO WAIT. I recently had an outpatient surgical procedure which was handled MUCH BETTER THAN THIS OCT 7 procedure.

Came in with Chest pressure and pain. Quickly taken in to emergency room. Received a bed within 1 hour. This was on a Saturday. By Sunday the had done all the required tests. Could not determine the problem from the tests initially. after which additional test were performed, and the problem was found., and immediately proceeded to correct the problem within 4 days of me initially entering the hospital.

This included a weekend, and required them transferring me to another facility since CentraState couldn't provide all the necessary treatment. Great treatment by the entire staff.

I had surgery at this hospital in July 2021 I can honestly say that everyone meaning the nurses were the nicest people they made me feel safe and comfortable. I was extremely nervous but "the nurses" eased my mind and took excellent care of me. I don't know why I was sent home at 9:30 at night after major surgery but we got home safely. I had a very good experience a this hospital, let me reiterate bc of the nurses.

People keep leaving the Emergency room bc they aren't being seen. They will not give you a time to be seen and are uncaring people are waiting outside to be seen. I will amend once in the actual emergency department the staff is excellent you need to work on your front staff and how they treat their patients.

Just was discharged from this hospital last night. It was more like a jail than a hospital. It was the worst 3 days of my life. The nurses are neglectful, nasty and rude. I was ignored and treated terribly. I was told something different by every doctor. I went in by ambulance never expecting to be admitted I had my purse and was told by a nurse that any outside medications had to go pharmacy during my stay and that was hospital policy and I wouldn't want them stolen I later found out that my daughter was allowed to bring them home for me but the nurse lied.

When I was finally going through the discharge process two of the four medications were missing. A certain doctor stuck his head in the door and scared me of what my diagnosis's may be without receiving any test results. I would never be admitted there again. The hospital was dirty and awful. I believe it needs to investigated and shut down. I watched people around me having seizures and strokes and a bunch of nurses in the hallway giggling and trying to figure out what to do. Please stay away from this hospital

Everyone was very friendly and professional. The bathrooms and rooms were clean and I liked that everyone had their own room. Cleanliness is very important to me. I didn't see a dr but the physician assistant explained all of my results and was able to answer my questions. The nurses were responsive. The only upsetting factor was my husband, who was fully vaccinated and had his vaccine card with him wasn't allowed in with me. (I am fully vaccinated as well. )They said that tomorrow starts allowing one visitor with patient'. Under the circumstances, I understood the reasoning.

My father in law was taken to this "hospital" immediately after an alleged stroke. After a stroke, the 1st 24 hours are critical for intervention to prevent long term brain injury and physical disabilities. It is now day 7 and Centra State has not provided one ounce of care for my father in law. They have been unable to perform an MRI. They have tried to prevent a hospital transfer.

All of the staff blames all of the other staff for the incompetence and several told us that my father in law has received no care because they were "off this weekend". This place needs to be investigated and my heart is broken for anyone who has had a loved one admitted here.

This is the worst hospital anyone could take there family to, I was held hostage by these animals for days, I wanted to signed myself out before they killed me. I was brought in for covid on 1-31-2021, I wanted to be released 2-10-2021, the doctor would not release me. My wife had to call the freehold police to help get me out. I was released 2-15-2021, I went to my dentist in manalapan n j for a cleaning, I told him the story, He had the same problem with his 90 year old mother, they pulled the same thing, she was being treated so badly, he wanted to get her out before they killed her.

He got her out, he had to go there with his own oxygen tanks to get her out, they said they had to order them, when we all know they have them on hand, STAY FAR AWAY! Keep putting reviews on because centrastate gets them taking down, this is the second time I am putting a review on, Because I put the doctors name on, and the people in the messed up corporate office we complained to, They said back in February they were doing a internal Investigation, That is like making bank robbers investigate bank robbers, a real joke.

My husband was a patient at CentrState in July. I realize this was a very hard time for everyone. But, I was not prepared for the extent to which he was neglected. I was unable to visit for the firsteight days. I assumed he was being taken care of properly. He was unable to speak and walk unaided because of a stroke suffered months earlier. He was in there for dehydration.

When I was allowed to visit I was dumbfounded by the way he looked- hadn tbeen shaved at all! He was on a dirty shee in a bed withan uneven mattress pad. All pushed to one side with smelly dirty gown on! Unpon leaving I was told ti follow up with care for a sore that had developed on his heel. It took weekly visits with a podiatrist at the wound care center, well into october, to take care of and finally healed! Terrible experience! I would never let him go back to this hospital again! mzs.

This is probably the worst hospital my Husband has been to. Went to the emergency room for chest pains lasted there from at 10:30 am to 5:30 in the afternoon. The nurses are terrible! Couldn't even draw blood out of him had to poke a needle various times about 5 times. Didn't even bother to give him fluids to hydrate didn't bother to give him something for pain.

The worst is the gave him a urine test of all the drugs and narcotics possible?! As if he was high or on drugs! The disrespect and lack of knowledge and self care for a patient is ridiculous. He came home worst then what he went in. The nurse that gave him his discharge papers literally threw his papers from the door and told him he could disconnect his cable from the chest! Please for any one reading this don't go or ever refer this place to anyone!

You would be better off staying at home, as if you were living in "Prairie Days" - see Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. This hospital is filthy. The tray tables are sticky. The floors are sticky. (And this is during COVID! -Filth Filth Filth) I was in the hospital for 12 hours and never saw a doctor. A woman was screaming from about 4 AM until 6:30 AM and no one came to help her and give her a sedative or a something to calm her down.

She woke all the patients and caused undue stress to everyone. The nurses did nothing - didn't even talk to her. If you want to go to a disgusting filthy Purgatory, then go to Centra State Hospital. The staff is burned out and they don't even interact with you. Years ago my new born son was in Centra State - he had jaundice after his birth. Centra State allowed doctors with disgusting dirty velcro wrist type supports to go from room to room administering to patients in the juvenile wing of the hospital.

Because of this disgusting practice, my son got a life threatening blood infection and had to have intravenous needles administering antibiotic into veins in every part of his body - including his head. He was only two weeks old. Luckily they did administer the correct antibiotic - but it was their fault that he even needed that to happen - i.e. he only needed that administration of antibiotic because of their filth, filth, filth.

Who is in charge of this hospital? A third world enterprise? I believe that maybe there is a third world enterprise running this hospital. I only went there recently because it was the closest hospital in an emergency situation. Please, save yourself: Go to Riverview Hospital in Red Bank, NJ. It may take twice the time, but it is not run by maybe, maybe, maybe a third world disgusting filthy enterprise that preys on making people sicker, to help keep their business flourishing.

Just received my first vaccine for COVID-19, I have to say very impressed with how organized and orderly the process was. Truly professional. After seeing sites across the country and what was going on elsewhere I wasn't sure what to expect. But from registration through today's shot CentraState personnel impressed. Kudos to administration and the staff. Thank you

We went to have a script filled for an IV because my wife was dehydrated. Dr Hannah was not smart enough to just fill the script as written Instead what should have taken between an hour to may be 3 took 7 hrs, just to get an iv. Dr Hannah didnt even read the script from our Dr. It is better to drive an hour to another facility, as you will be treated much faster and they will actually provide the medical service you request.

This place is not how we want to provide medical service. Not to mention the drunks and drug addicts being given free meals in the hallways. Better to turn this pkace into halfway house and the paying clients go to other near by facilities. Their reputation in the medical community is poor as well. Perhaps some civilian oversight and measure the metrics of patient service could bring some service.

If I am having a heart issue, it may save your life to have someone drive you to other nearby facilities, because ambulance is required to drive you to nearest facility and then you will be transferred, maybe hours later

Stay Away from CentraState Hospital! The absolutely worse experience ever! I was admitted with an emergency, one of the triage nurses was so rude and annoyed, she was huffing and puffing and eyerolling. Once admitted I spent 7 hours out in a hallway having chest pains and running high fever. I never got the room! Nurses were not attentive at all, noone bothered to ask if I needed anything - a sip of water or an IV or perhaps a blanket? Complete ignorance! Noone even offered Tylenol despite the fact that my fever was 102.5. DO NOT GO TO CENTRA STATE, noone will pay any attention to you.

Horrible place. My mother fell and broke her hip in a Friday. Without all the details she was there for a week and 2 days and in 3 different units. The amount of miscommunication between supposed professional staff is paramount and unbelievable. Never as straight answer or conflicting information. We were told bc of a holiday and weekends that are were short staffed. NOT my problem and my mothers care should not have been compromised because of that. Never go here!

I went to the hospital and visited the short stay unit where I got same-day surgery. I was told to arrive at 5:30AM but turns out my surgery wasn't until 7:30AM. I didn't mind the downtime but in hindsight, I would have took my time getting there that morning instead of rushing frantically and causing unnecessary stress to myself and caregiver. Anyway, the nurses were SO NICE and put in effort to make sure I felt comfortable before surgery.

I can't say thank you enough to all the nurses and staff I encountered that day. In regards to the actual facility, perhaps it could use some upgrades but it's a hospital and the aesthetics don't bother me as much as the quality of care. I am happy overall with the procedure and would recommend CentraState.

I'm in my hospital bed as I'm writing this. Yesterday at 2PM I was told I was gonna be discharged and good to leave as soon as a specific doctor answered his phone to confirm something. It has been 22 hours and an extra hospital bill later and I still can't leave. I'll never come back The nurses were saints though

A hospital is a hospital, some worse than others. The only positive thing I can say about state of the art hospital. Is the nurses and patient care techs are amazing wonderful women, who are compassionate, understanding, and just all in all awesome (you know who u are ladies) As for dr.s, physicians assistants etc. They have no bedside manner, barely tell u what's going on with ur problem, they come in talk briefly and leave. Giving you no clue what's going on with ur condition, what's the next step and immediately assume the worst.

I was pretty much "blamed" for a bad reaction to a medication a dr had given me putting me in this hospital for 2 and a half days, they sent me home and I ended up back there for another 4-5 days. I don't understand what has happened to dr patient care anymore, it's sloppy and half hazzard. If you do visit this hospital make sure you're not a patient.

Lobby is gorgeous. I had a friend who got admitted to CCU. I told them which floor, room # and area (CCU). The receptionist kept telling me she's not there at the lobby. This shenanigan continued for a while. Finally, a smart person intervened and said the receptionist, Jessica should just call up. Bingo, they found my friend. As an FYI, no flowers or balloons are allowed up at CCU.
