Olsen Phillip S In the late 1920's, the community of El Dorado recognized the need for a modern hospital. Frank S. Allen, a prominent businessman in the community, contributed land and $100,000 for a hospital named in honor of his mother, Susan B. Allen. In the spirit of community pride and care, the balance of the funds needed to build and equip the hospital was contributed by local citizens.

In 1934, the F.S. Allen School of Nursing began educating and training nurses, which continued until 1961. Throughout the years, a number of additions have taken place, making the facility unique in the range of services offered for its size.
Services
Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital is well known for it's accomplishments as an acute care hospital, but we also offer the community a wide range of education and specialty clinics. As a non-profit community hospital, Susan B. Allen recognizes the value of carefully selected partnerships which strengthen our ability to serve our community.
After a cardiac event, learning to rebuild cardiovascular strength is vital. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Susan B. Allen offers outpatient prescribed exercise sessions and cardiac risk factor modification through education. The program is designed to limit the physiological and psychological effects of cardiac illness and to control cardiac symptoms.
The Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital Foundation is partnering with the Butler County Health Department to provide six FREE drive-thru flu vaccination clinics for those in our community who are uninsured. Through this partnership, the SBAMH Foundation will provide the vaccinations for the uninsured, and the Health Department will provide for the insured as well as the staffing and supplies.
Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital is offering in-person Childbirth Education classes to prepare you for the upcoming birth of your baby. During the class, we will cover many topics including admission, labor, delivery, comfort measures, pain management, newborn care, breastfeeding, discharge and recovery.

3 hours + wait to have my child seen at the "emergency" department. We're only 2 cars parked outside. Better off driving to Wichita. How does this place stay open. Must have an ignorant donor base.

I wish to make a special commendation for Mike who gave me the MRI on Friday, June Third. He was extremely helpful and took care of my needs when I was having pain getting up from the MRI. Kudus greatly appreciated his assistance.

I recently had SI joint fusion surgery performed by Dr Librodo. I'd like to thank all the surgical staff for how they took care of me. And the nurses & CNA's during my recovery were compassionate & caring. Not in a rush to leave my room. And Dr. Librodo & his staff checked on me-all in all, definitely not a bad experience, it was a very good stay in the hospital. Thank you!

I will be forever grateful to the nursing staff on the second floor. In a time of family crisis, those wonderful, compassionate care givers made sure my husband's passing was peaceful and pain free, not to mention their thoughtful and respectful attention to me and my children in such a difficult time. We were on a cross country road trip and I believe God brought us to this particular hospital. Thank you.

In the past, SBA has been a mixed bag. My wife has had to deal with rude nurses several times and the last time she went in, she was in terrible pain from back and leg problems. Although she was given medicine for this, she was discharged without being able to walk with the instructions to call the Fire Department to help her get back inside our house.

My own visits have been better. I had to go somewhere fast last week for cardiac stress and went here. Dr. Featherly was amazing. A most knowledgeable doctor, his courtesy and professionalism were exceptional.

My mother went to the ER last night with chest pains. I drove two hours to El Dorado to see her only to be told that since my sister had been in to visit her earlier I would not be allowed in her room. I tried to explain my situation to the receptionist, but she just smiled and told me that she follows the rules. What really upset me is that there was another patient in ER who had 4 visitors, according to my Mother and sister.

I went outside to calm down and called the SBA number. When a lady answered I asked if this was the emergency room, she did not answer, so I started explaining the situation at which point she interrupted me and told me that I had been rude to her, and she had not done anything wrong. First of all, the rule is ridiculous; second, why was this rule not unforced for all patients; and third, the fact that she had a smug smile on her face when not allowing me to see my Mother are all reasons why I will make sure my Mother goes to Andover from now on.

She went in at 1:00 pm and left at around 9:00 pm with absolutely no answers as to what caused the pain. They did take X-rays, but have to send them off. So that was a big waste for her to step foot in their door. All it amounted to is a huge bill that she will have to pay. My recommendation to anyone considering SBA for any procedure or emergency, drive the extra 15 minutes to Andover.

If it's life threatening, they will be in much better hands! One last thing, the receptionist should not be in that job, a total lack of caring and a terrible attitude are not what worried family members need at that time.

As far as surgery and tests go, this is is a pretty decent place. I've had 5 surgeries in 10 years here, no problems except billing, which is the fault of the insurance, m oh stly. The ladies in billng see me frequently. Always pleasant, eastmg to work with.

Absolutely worst emergency room I've ever been to on my life. Nurses completely ignore that fact that someone is in pain after setting them in a room and saying they will be seen "shortly". You'll sit hours in a room, even if your the only person visiting the ER, made to deal with whatever pain it is, regardless of your in extreme pain and bleeding, they could care less.

Most the time all you do is see them chatting and not doing a damn thing, completely unprofessional. If something ever happens to me I'd rather die than let anyone take me to this hospital.

Experienced 5 shoulder rehabs, 3 knees, 1 back.a remarkable tolerable (enjoyable?) experience. I keep going back! Susan has been my go to therapist. My bud Ross loved Andrea. Cannot imagine a more professional, caring, sensitive physical therapy source. Five star, OUTSTANDING.
