My daughter was referred here for a follow up visit from America's Best The referring doctor told us there would not be an additional charge as it were a follow up visit. I called to set up the appointment on a Monday and was told they had a cancellation and could get her in Thursday. They did not give any special instructions during this call. I was unable to go as I was summoned to court.
My 18 year old daughter had a friend take her instead. While in court I received a call stating they needed a payment of $261.00. I explained to the girl that the referring doctor had said there would not be a charge and didn't realize they needed payment. I explained I was called to court and did not have any method of payment with me. I asked if they could bill me or if my husband could call back with the payment info.
The girl I was speaking with asked me to hold. Another lady came on the phone. She stated her name was Cam Smith, and said she was the office manager. She informed me that they do not provide "free services" and she was "not allowing my daughter to leave until I made they payment." WOW! She went on to say "This is the reason we request parent's to accompany their children and not send them alone." I said I'm sorry, I was called to court and was told there would not be a charge.
That I had no problem paying but I did not have my stuff with me and could have my husband call back. I told her my daughter was not "alone" and had a friend there to drive her. She snickered and said "yeah her friend, not even a family member". She said I should have been there as my daughter had a "Pseudotumor and was going to have to see a specialist in Atlanta." She then had the nerve to say "It is going to require surgery and you will also have to pay that, they also don't do things for free." She went on to say "I would recommend you going to that visit with her." I asked what a pseudotumor was exactly and she said, "see this is why you should have came, hold on and let me see if someone is available to talk to you." A tech came on the phone after about 5 min and was all apologies.
She told me my daughter DID NOT have a tumor but because of her vision changes and headaches they just wanted to follow up as a precaution. She said she had written "pseudotumor" initially as a "possibility" prior to the doctor seeing her and she should have changed it. Again she apologized for the other lady telling me that. Needless to say I was irate.
I am a director of nursing and I would NEVER speak to a family member or a patient the way she spoke to me, and I definitely would not tell someone they had a tumor when they did not. I am not sure how this lady ever was hired as an "office manager." I will never take my daughter back here or recommend anyone else to either. My mind is just blown!

Called to make appointments for my husband and children today and was told that all three would have to come on separate days. It is their policy not to schedule family members on the same day in case you are no shows. My husband and I were established patients of this practice with Dr. Zhao for many years. I was told by the staff and the office manger that we were basically out of luck and that I would have a hard time finding any doctor to see us at the same time.
One call to Dr. Lawrence Arkin's office and they were more than willing to see our family on the same day. Sad that this practice is willing to allow their patients to go to other providers. I was shocked by the lack of effort to ensure their patients needs were being met. Such a shame.

I have been a patient of Dr. Zhao for approximately 15 yrs. The staff has always been awesome to me and Dr. Zhao is an awesome doctor. My eye situation was difficult from the start. She's very smart and very detailed. I wouldn't want any other eye doctor unless she refers me to another specialist. Thank you for always taking care of me when I needed you!

I'm not writing this to bash these guys just a heads up I called to make an appointment and was told that they do not participate with most vision plans but they would accept my health insurance. I then asked if they would accept my vision plan to cover the eyeglass part of my visit and was told no that they would not which means my eyeglasses wouldn't be covered at all as my health insurance doesn't provide for eyeglasses.
But my vision plan pays 100% on frames and 90% on lenses. So if your planning on going with these guys I'd say be prepared to pay 100% out of pocket for your contacts or your glasses again I'm not bashing these guys but be prpeared!

After a lifetime of going to eye doctors and surgeons and being mis diagnosed Dr Zoah has amazed me, the best bedside manner I have ever had. Not to mention finnaly have the right diagnosis, I have not had to go back in a year now. Before I was Having to go at least once every two mo. If not more missing a week of work each time my eye flaired up.
With all the doctor's I have to go to on a regular bases not one has ever treated me better or shown more concern over my issues, Dr. Zoah is by far the best in her feild I only wish my other medical Doctors could be 1/2 of what Dr. Zoah is. I have even had to go to the ER when I have gotten foren bodies in my eyes who could not see anything and followed up with other eye Doctors who still could not see anything and tell me that it was just due to my eyes being scratched.
Then to go to Dr. Zoah and have her sit there and remove item after item from my eyes that no other Dr. Could see. In my book the best eye doctor you can be seen by. Thank you Dr. Zoah for being the only one that cared enough to take the time needed to help stop the unbearable pain I have gone though all my life. You are trully a God send, Sincerity, David Broome, Ben Broome
