Dr. Simone specializes in advanced cataract and refractive surgery. He is certified in laser-in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK), photo-refractive keratectomy (PRK), and LASEK, and utilizes the latest technologies in these procedures. Since opening the practice in 1999, Dr. Simone has restored vision in thousands of patients and continues to revolutionize the accuracy and outcomes of surgery.
Dr. Varanelli graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1998 and has been practicing at Simone Eye Center since 2007. He specializes in comprehensive eye care, with an emphasis on the medical and surgical co-management of eye disease. He has a specialized interest in dry eye and has established a dry eye treatment center within the practice.
At Simone Eye Center located in Macomb Township and Warren, we've performed thousands of laser vision correction procedures including LASIK, LASEK, and PRK. Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve, which is the part of the eye that carries the images we see to the brain. When the pressure inside the eye increases, damage to the optic nerve fibers may occur, causing blind spots to develop. These blind spots usually go undetected until the optic nerve is significantly damaged.

The jury is out on this somewhat new doctor added to the staff, Dr. Downey. I had an appointment for a follow up exam that was made last July, when I was called by the technician, I was told that I needed another exam. I explained to the technician that my insurance ONLY PAYS FOR EYE EXAMS EVERY 24 MONTHS. The technician took an attitude with me because I told her that I only came for a follow up.
The technician did tell me that the Dr. wanted a full exam. I won my argument when I told her that I was there for a follow up appointment. This was billed to my medical insurance, not my vision insurance. This is what I came in for to begin with, a "medical" appointment. This technician had a chip on her shoulder while she was checking my eye pressure and I only told her that I wanted the one eye to be dilated.
I couldn't tell you what her face looked like. Her attitude was very cold. When Dr. Downey did come into the exam room, she told me that she recommends that eyes be checked every year. How many times do I have to explain my vision insurance only covers every 24 months? I felt very disrespected when I left. With rising costs everywhere, I was not going to add another unwanted expense.

I've been seeing Dr. Simone for at least 10 years. He's a great doctor. The entire staff there is very friendly. I go every year for a dilated eye exam, and he's always careful and thorough. Not only that, I'm always in and out fairly quickly, never having to wait a long time because he's running behind, like what happens at most doctors. I'd definitely recommend to anyone based on my experiences.

Persons who have had R.K., Lasik surgery DO NOT deal with THIS DOCTOR. I would have donated the close to $2000 for upgraded Cataract lens to his pocketbook rather than have had him make my eye stigmatism worst than it was before my surgery. Do not buy anything but basic eye lens as paid for by most insurance companies because your sight will only get worst. There are no ethics it is about getting the money.

I am so happy my family doctor recommended Simone Eye Center 8 years ago. I have special eye issues and now so does my wife. The doctors are excellent because they are organized, thorough, patient, and they don't mind answering a lot of questions so that when you leave you understand your eye status. The staff is friendly and professional. I highly recommend Simone Eye Center.

Dr. Simone is always very thorough and I'm happy with every visit to his office. All of the staff is very friendly and personable and also have a lot of knowledge as well. The only complaint I have is that appointments have to be scheduled far in advance but that is understandable when Dr. Simone is in high-demand because he is so good. It is worth the wait.

The opthamology staff here are great, especially Dr. Simone. However, never, ever, buy eyeglasses in there optometry department as they don't stand behind their product. 6 months old, frame falls apart, lens is ruined trying to temporarily hold it and I get told $110 for one lens when it's all because the frame failed. 0 stars for that.

Very professional, friendly staff. Came in for an eye exam, facility is clean and the atmosphere is very professional. Scheduling was very easy and online forms were available ahead of time so I did not have to fill anything out upon arrival. Checkup was thorough and each step was explained along the way. Frame selection was quite diverse and the have something to suit everyone's tastes. Thank you!

Best Eye Center, would recommend and did! Upon arriving home, a friend happened to call and mention see was looking for an eye doctor.
