Services
Due to the heavy call volume on Monday, you may want to call Tuesday through Friday for non-urgent questions or appointments. If an emergency or serious concern arises after office hours, you can always reach a physician by calling our Winston-Salem office number and leaving a message with our answering service.
We have partnered with MediCopy to fulfill your Release of Information requests and Disability/FMLA forms. MediCopy is fully HIPAA compliant and adheres to all state and federal regulations concerning the release of medical information. Patients can request copies of their medical records at no cost, but delivery fees apply for postage, so provide an email address!
We pride ourselves in providing high quality state of the art technology with a caring hand. At PENTA we are dedicated to our patients. Our staff of 6 Audiologists & 10 Physicians are professional, courteous and focused on providing you the best service. Work with various types of custom earmolds such as: swim plugs, noise protection, custom molds for earbuds.
Audiometry provides a more precise measurement of hearing. This is accomplished via headphones or inserts. The audiogram begins with testing your understanding of speech. First, you are asked to repeat two-syllable words that will gradually get softer in level. Then, a list of monosyllabic words will be presented at your most comfortable listening level, which you are asked to repeat.

Dr phipps did an amazing job on extracting my laryngeal cancer on my voice box. You can barely tell i had anything done. Always very nice and caring staff.

I've been going to see enta for about 4 years now I would highly recommend this office to friends or family but on May 13th I saw Dr Maxwell for a surgical procedure and I was truly impressed. he took the time with me, made sure I understood my options even though I made the choice as to the procedure I want it. I felt good with my decision from the information he gave me.

When my two boys had surgery, DrMcgurit and staff was awesome they called the next day and even gave me their numbers Incase something happened and to me that's a awesome doctor and staff. If I ever hear or talk to someone who needs a allgerist I'm more then happy to refer them. They are the best.

Dr McQuirt is the best ENT in the area. Very knowledgeable in 22q11 deletion syndrome and has been a gift from God helping me with my two grandsons who have the disorder. He has performed surgery on their Palate helping them to be able to learn to talk and their ears which were constantly infected and eventually affected hearing. He has walked with me through the last 17 years keeping these boys as healthy as possible. I can never thank him enough!

Dr Maxwell was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and patient. He took a great amount of time to explain and teach. While my medical situation wasn't as critical as many others, you would never have known the difference. He treated me with such respect. I can't say enough about the visit. Crystal, his assistant, was also fabulous.

I'd like to start by saying that I genuinely like and appreciate the doctors, nurses and staff here and at the surgery facility that were involved in my son's surgery to have tubes placed in my son's ears. My experience with these folks have been great and high quality. HOWEVER, the billing team are extremely untrustworthy and will try to scam you at every corner.

If you are not familiar with how your insurance works, it is likely you have already - or will - vastly overpay for your services. Proceed with caution and don't pay a single charge until you have confirmed an itemized list of charges through your insurance and health advocate if you have one. Luckily, I work in insurance and am highly familiar with how my own plan works and have had to correct them every single time they try to process a transaction - saving me THOUSANDS of dollars in incorrect charges.

After the surgery, the doctor and the billing team assured me that the cost of the post-op visit is covered in the cost of the surgery. I confirmed this through my insurance. The team then proceeds to schedule the appointment for me for 14 days after the surgery and I was told that was the absolute earliest they allow anyone to come back in as long as there is no fever. 14 days later, my husband was the one who brought our son to the post-op visit and imagine my "shock" when he informed me that they had charged him.

I called into the office with no answer. Left voicemails and no response. Called my insurance and they informed me that the post-op visit is only covered 100% within 10 days after the surgery and that the team at PENTA was aware of that. I reached out the the surgery scheduling coordinator (not in charge of billing) who was the only person to return my call and she confirmed that she was aware that post-op visits were only covered within 10 days after the surgery.

I asked why I was scheduled 14 days out and told I had no earlier option when they were aware that meant the visit would no longer be covered. She made plans to reach out to the billing manager and have them contact me. One week later and still no return call from the billing manager. It's a shame that some folks in one area of this office are ruining it for the rest of the team that would otherwise be highly recommendable.

Dr. David Phipps was very pleasant and attentive. He took his time to explain simple things and made sure I understood my condition. The staff was friendly and made you feel comfortable. The process was fast which I liked and very efficient. Great experience and my problem was fixed. I will be returning in the future.
