When we first joined together in 1976 as a group of family doctors and nurses, we thought long and hard about what would be important to us in the care of own families. Those principles of patient care-established when many of us were just starting our own families-have guided us throughout the years. Our expanded office hours on Saturdays and weekday evenings make it easier for patients to schedule convenient appointments. We have two locations: one in the heart of downtown Ithaca, and the other in the Northeast location of Ithaca, near Lansing.
Services
As specialists in family medicine, we are qualified to provide care for many of the medical problems you or your family will encounter. In those instances when consultation with another specialist is indicated, we will help you make those arrangements. This ensures that the consulting physician will contact your primary doctor with his or her findings.
You can opt-in to e-statements (and discontinue paper statements) as well as pay your bill online. View your current medications, ask for medication refills online, and get an automated message that they have been sent to a pharmacy. Request to add or remove allergies, make a request to update/remove medications if they are not working, and request to add medications by external providers. These requests will be reviewed by the practice. Send messages securely to the office, whether it's a billing question or a referral question.
Patient care at Family Medicine is provided by a team of health care professionals consisting of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and licensed practical nurses. The majority of our staff members are long-term area residents who have raised their families here, and who are committed to the community.
The practice integrates partially with behavioral health care to provide patient services. After an initial consultation to discuss any behavioral health issues the patient may have, our providers will assess the patient and make a recommendation to either treat the patient within the practice or to refer him/her to a qualified specialist that can provide the best counseling and treatment.

I really appreciated Dr. Donovan. He was knowledgable, easy to talk to, and good at explaining things.

Love my doctor but. Front desk, making appointments, getting patient portal messages answered. SLOWER than a turtle. Message machine bounces you all over, portal frequently ignored. Took them over TWO MONTHS to send me the paperwork a specialist needed filled out. Today cancelled my appt, with less than 2 hours notice and can't reschedule for 3 months!

American medicine is past broken and that was before covid. Now it's just impossible. Guess I'll have to keep relying on myself for care and be prepared for the worst if I have an emergency. SMH

We love our Doctor, but we have to put up with the most abusive, unethical, belittling and laziest office workers I have ever come by in my lifetime. We dread having to call or come in. There is absolutely no one to complain to about their behavior.

My husband has been a patient here for a few years and is finally leaving. As a medical professional myself, I am absolutely appalled at how this place runs. He is prescribed medication and has the hardest time trying to get them refilled. Every few months, he has to play a game of cat and mouse in order to stay on top of his health. It's constant!

He's always put on hold then told he'll get a call back and usually doesn't get one. Once he finally gets someone they want to charge him for the call and for answering any simple medical questions! It's sometimes days before he can get his medication filled. What a hassle!

I had Dr. Donovan 2 weeks ago, he was very kind and gave me lots of helpful advice. He listened to my concerns carefully and checked up my condition well. I am very thankful to have him as my family doctor for me and my husband.

Customer service is extremely poor and unprofessional. After waiting on hold for 45 minutes, the person on the line was rude. I am sure that they are understaffed and lack training. An investment into their training and a few additional staff members are needed to make the office fun more efficiently.

I actually downloaded yelp so I could write this review. I have been a patient with family medicine for over 20 years. I called this morning to schedule an appointment and sat with the phone ringing in my ear for 11 minutes (I finally just hung up). Called again and am currently on hold for 5 minutes which isn't that bad, but we'll see how long this goes on for.

The last time I called to schedule an appointment a few months ago, I was on wait for 23 minutes before anyone picked up. As a receptionist myself, it's really not difficult for me to pick up a call and let them know I'm there but assisting another patient and to please hold. Just.insane.

I don't recommend becoming a new patient here. I switched after moving to the area from Rochester. I have only visited 1 time and I honestly don't want to go back. The doctor was nice but the front desk staff has terrible manners and are rude. Although the doctor was nice, she did say she would call me to follow up and I never heard back. On another occasion I called with an urgent question about medication and they told me I had to pay for an appointment to just to ask my question.

Absolutely ridiculous. I do like the patient portal though and the staff that responded on the portal was helpful and nice. I think that I will be looking for a new provider, which is unfortunate because I liked the doctor. One last note, I visited their state st location, it was ok but it could use a little TLC.

Dr. McClelland is very good. NP Liz is awesome. They treat me with respect, which I don't feel like happens other places. If they don't know something, they find out, or find you someone that can help you and get you to that specialist. The only reason it's not 5 stars is there is one doc there that is very reactive and unkind, but I just avoid her.

I don't know where some of these 1 star reviews are coming from, except the guy mad that he was late not understanding that other patients are scheduled that day too and the docs literally can't split in two to accommodate his irresponsibility.

The head doctor is scornful of mental illness and just plain nasty and arrogant. A nurse I saw was bullying and rude. Another nurse was ok but she didn't stay long. They are determined that everyone over 50 will submit to annual colonoscopies regardless of risk (these tests make big bucks for them). If you refuse any test of any kind, they are nasty and idiotic.

I've been a customer for a little over two years. I'm a senior at 83 years old I don't feel like I've been getting appropriate services from this company. Had success with medical problems that come up occasionally at this company. But preventive measures have never been prescribed. No physical examinations in all this time, no follow up on visits.

Their online customer website is a joke. I stumbled on a message in there that reported a very high A-1 C test that had been prescribed. No further contact about the serious matter. I guess I need a senior doctor. Beyond the individual Dr. Services, I've concluded that this company has a collection of doctors with nobody in particular in charge.

The ratings give negative marks for customer service and clearly nobody over there is paying attention. I don't know what to make of this company but I'm about done.

This place is a clown show. Took two visits within two days to diagnose what I already knew I had. First doctor was incompetent, second doctor spotted it right away. Problem is rather then not charging for the second visit due to the first doctors incompetence, they billed me for both visits and after insurance it cost me $200 more dollars then it should of.

They lost a customer as quickly as they got one. This place is below average, you would be better served finding somewhere else to go. Might need to go here a few times to find out what's wrong with you. Just Sayin
