Cortland Eye Center was originally owned by Dr. Dean Mitchell who began the ophthalmology practice in 1982. In 1997, the building was enlarged and an Optometrist and an Optician joined the staff. When he retired in 2006, Dr. Jacqueline Fergerson took ownership of Cortland Eye Center. We have continued to grow and most recently (2009) added another Optometrist to our staff.

Cortland Eye Center is proud of our staff members, many of them with longevity of up to 25 years with the practice. We believe that our staff members are the heart of Cortland Eye Center.

Our Services Report

Total eyecare, from initial examination to delicate eye surgery, is available through our office. Our intent is to provide superior eyecare services at reasonable cost. In order to do this, we require that all fees be paid at the time of service. Orders placed for eyeglasses, contacts, and optical products require a 50% deposit.

Meet Our Staff Report

Our friendly and knowledgeable business staff members are ready to assist you. Our staff attends applicable educational meetings which helps them to serve you better. They are well trained in insurance matters as well as medical triaging and are pleased to help you with any questions you might have.

Cataract Surgery Report

They occur when the natural crystalline lens of the eye becomes cloudy. Fortunately, cataract surgery is effective in correcting this problem. This type of surgery changes lives every day. Post-op day at Cortland Eye Center is very exciting, not only for our patients, but also for our staff. We never tire of hearing about the improved vision of our patients following cataract surgery.

The worst No show Policy i have ever seen, avoid if you can. The Doctor is also very rude about things, i have panic attacks and was treated awful the whole time i was there, just go somewhere else please.

I am very much impressed with their nurses and Dr. Fergerson. Excellent place very clean and up to dated. Such an accurate way of testing and eye check up methods. Dr. Fergerson is such an expert doctor I have met in my life. Even they handled my fussy kid so well throughout her eye exam. I must say all the nurses are so experienced and knowledgeable. Somebody with retinopathy history specially in kids should visit Dr. Fergerson she is the best.
