The epitome of failing American Healthcare system with a tinge of racism added to the mix. Went in tonight with extreme sore throat, high grade fever of 103, extreme difficulty swallowing. Filled out forms and took a covid swab but then waited for 2 hours as I saw people come and go after me, all white. I asked for a time estimate so that I could prepare myself, they don't know.
I knew they weren't going to see me when another person with very similar symptoms but pain rating half that of mine got seen before me. When I asked again, apparently they were seeing heart attack patients. Yes, every single one who went in before me. The doctors and nurses should be ashamed of themselves. Next time I'm sick, I'd sooner die than go to this hell hole

This is the worst hospital in America, I'm not kidding. After losing my insurance information several times, they screwed up billing for emergency care and keep calling around dinner time trying to pawn off a $15k bill on me rather than just fix their mistake. Immune to information that doesn't involve me giving them money out of pocket. Totally incompetent and/or aggressively predatory billing practice.
Oh yeah the actual medical service? My doctor wouldn't stop talking about going to Burning Man and how she wanted to run for US Senate as she offered to put sutures in my face. I didn't take her up on it. That said, the nurses were incredible. Overall though, this place is Halloween town so avoid to every extent possible. The best part of my stay was when I transferred to Dartmouth.

Horrible staff. Uncaring, incompetent receptionists that fail to relay messages or put any effort into their responsibilities. Frequently break laws pertaining to a person's right to have a medical advocate present with a patient. Extremely rude and insensitive ER staff. I've been going to this hospital for both primary care and emergencies for three years now, and today was absolutely my last.
I have experienced nothing but frustration every time I've turned to them for medical care. My ongoing health problems went untreated (I found out by seeing another doctor that I had a potentially life-threatening skin infection that was close to entering my blood stream after my PCP at Gifford just threw up her hands and said she didn't know what was wrong with me.) because of their doctors' willingness to just shrug their shoulders and pump you full of a continuous array of drugs, hoping one might work, thus diagnosing the problem.
Their mental health department is a joke and violates various HIPAA laws. And NEVER bring a family member to this ER for a mental health crisis. They will shame them, shove them into a room without paying any attention to them, and treat them like garbage until it's time to go home. They'll refer you to Clara Martin, which is not really equipped to deal with much other than smoking cessation and drug abuse in adults.
Your family member will leave feeling worse than when they came in. That place is nothing more than a dreary, ill-equipped, 1950's flashback. So sad. You can do so much better, Vermont.

Best medical system in Vermont. Very convenient and helpful staff, and they go above and beyond to squeeze you in for an appointment even though there maybe nothing available online. The negative reviews are probably from patients who were not healthy to begin with, and are blaming Gifford's physicians rather than take responsibility for their own health and lifestyle choices-pathetic!

Editing my review to state that the primary care here is great, but emergency and other care is subpar and your better going somewhere else. Many doctors and nurses completely ignore requests, ignore patients, and don't take medical complaints seriously. Unfortunately the better staff have to apologize for the bad staff care and re-treat.

Since I was a kid, my entire family did business at this hospital, but about 10 years ago something changed. The attitude there now seems to be that patients are just a bother. On my last visit, I was made to feel like I was bothering the doctor because I have 3 hernias and wanted to have them repaired. There are still some nice people who care that work there, and I hope the tide will turn, but until then, I've stopped going there. When the entire staff begins to see their patents as human beings instead of a nuisance, I may go back, but not until then.

Folks come from miles around to deliver their babies in the birthing center. It is absolutely top notch. And no one could have cared more for my mother during her last month. The townspeople stop by the cafeteria for lunch: the food is that good. And if you're really bad off, they haul you to Dartmouth Hitchcock. The fifth star is for ample parking.

A small town facility with a big city feel, the staff here are always helpful and courteous. This is a clean and well equipped medical Centre, with professional staff who seem to really enjoy their job and enjoy helping people. I've been there several times for family members, and every visit was made to feel that we were the only patient / case they had that day as they were so attentive. This facility is a shining star in Randolph, Vermont!
