Reading the reviews, I'd say Detroiter's have very low standards about service time expectations. As a visitor to the area from Atlanta and checking into ER at 2:30 pm and still sitting in the ER lobby after 10:30pm (that's right 8+ hours in the lobby, waiting to see a doctor). All I can say is I hope you never need to visit the ER while you visit. Coming from another big and dense city, I expected a wait, but if an 8+ hour wait in the lobby is acceptable for you, then come here for your ER care.

Hospitals are never a great time, but every last worker I met during my overnight emergency visit here was absolutely wonderful. Obviously they are very busy and receiving care can take a while based on your level of injury, especially in such a busy city. But everyone I met (from ER intake, to patient transporters, nurses, housekeepers, technicians, and surgical specialists, etc.) was exceedingly caring, respectful, and attentive. Huge thank you to the workers of Henry Ford Hospital!

Have had to use the Urgent Care a couple of times. Right from the Receptionist (Rose Mary) each time - very simple and courteous- to the Nurse and the Physician who saw me on two subsequent occasions respectively, I have loved being there and have always felt comfortable. Which is why I am going back there now even though I really don't have to.

Waited 4 hours after having a 12pm appointment. During my wait, I watch the staff laugh and talk extremely loud. So loud that the desk clerk had to ask them to quit down so we could hear each other talk. VERY DISAPPOINTING!

FYI my mother had bone and lung cancer. My friend is a radiologist at Henry Ford. He recommended an oncologist. The oncologist ordered several tests before our appointment with him. One evening my mom was in terrible pain the oncologist told us to bring her to the ER in Detroit. She had to go by ambulance (she lives in Davisburg). Because of COVID we couldn't come in to the ER.

After 12 hours we noticed on the portal she still hadn't been seen, no tests had been run, nothing. We called the ER over and over. I called the oncologist over and over with no returned calls. Until I played with the sequence of numbers and got an off line to the oncologists office. I asked the women who answered the phone why the Dr. hadn't seen my mother or ordered tests, pain meds etc.

The women came back to the phone and said Dr. has decided not to take her as a patient? The women cried with me and apologized. Now what do we do? I called her primary care and got her a bed at Karmono's - McLaren hospital in Pontiac. Your ER dr wouldn't release her he lied and said tests were being run. I guess he didn't know I was on the portal.

Where everything is dated and timed. It's now been 20 hours. They still won't let us talk to her. All of a sudden on her portal I see all kinds of tests have been run and they inserted a tube in her nose.(The tube was so we couldn't pick her up she would have to go by ambulance if we moved her). Because the portal shows everything. I could see they saw her and ordered tests after the threat to move her.

I called my lawyer had papers drawn up and hired an ambulance. I gave the ER 2 hours to get her ready to leave. They ended up releasing her and had her transported to McLaren. We were there waiting, she cried when she saw us. At Henry Ford, no pillow, no blanket, nothing to eat or drink, nothing for pain, no one to help her to the bathroom for almost 24 hours.

She died 5 days later. Henry Ford had her test results and diagnosis. They knew she was in her final days. This isn't one mistake this was many by many people. This is the way you all run your hospital. I will never forgot the way my mother spent one of her final days on earth. I can only hope these people get the same treatment on their final days.

BEWARE- unsafe place for Elderly. I'm completely disgusted with this hospital. You literally should be ashamed of yourselves. My 79 year old father comes in to have a FN biopsy and after the procedure as he is about to return home, he texted his children to say he was out of surgery and that he would call us after he was home and rested. However, he was unable to call or get that rest because his phone was stolen.

He set it down while getting into the wheelchair and forgot to grab it. Duhhh, I'm quite sure he was still groggy from anesthesia. When he called to the hospital he was told they had it, but then given the run around on when to pick it up. Then all of a sudden it's mysteriously gone. I HATE THE WAY YOU DUMB ASS HOSPITALS TREAT VUNERABLE POPULATIONS OF PEOPLE. SHAME ON YOU!

I HOPE TO GOD YOU GET EVERYTHING COMING TO YOU FOR BEING DISGUSTING. Now instead of resting and waiting to see if he has CANCER, he has to put his mind on figuring out how to get everything lost on his phone and a new phone. I WISH ALL THE KARMA THE UNIVERSE CAN MUSTER AGAINST THIS PLACE. BEWARE Don't let this place near you or your elders.

I left Henry Ford for some years but came back because Dr. Huma Khan is a breath a fresh air. NEVER AGAIN! The scheduling staff and system is terrible. I've been trying to get my daughters shots for 2 days and each time we are turned away for a different reason. First they scheduled us right at close. Next, a staff member told us to come back the next day and we can get on the schedule. Came back and they tell us something different.

Apparently the people who schedule your appointment work at the main campus and don't know anything happening at the office. Total confusion. Would not recommend. I love Dr. Khan and will follow her if she leaves but I refuse to deal with Henry Ford Health System.

All they do is give u shots and proscribe u pills in urgent care. I have been sick and went into regent care many times in on month just for them to proscribed a medication I picked up at 7-11. I was told I'd be seeing a gynecologist and he gave my the name and a month later found out it was just for a follow up after been giving pills to stop my mentrual bleeding so I could be looked at and not even been examined so the pills were pointless.

The wait time for doctors after u get through urgent care doors is a long wait and they worry about things that's not immediately necessary like your weight and pee. You wait and hr just for them to tell you if your pregnant just bring a clear blue test when u come. This is so disappointing

Arrived thursday, now tues no wash up or shower, room not sanitized once, bed changed after broke down in tears, rare for me.skin & head sores never addressed, mri, xrays, echo, machines results only diagnosis base. Hear do not listen to patient. Suffering not acknowledged. No examination of actual person. Patient must find a doctor to help on their own, hospital does not help whole person. Appears goal is only do what pulls in most money. Older people are expendable. Many people state do not go to hospitals, find doctors that heal people not bottom lines. Rating is very poor.

I wanted to give an understanding review of an overwhelmed ER whose staff is fighting to give good service while fighting being burned out and too many patients because of the idiots that refuse to be vaccinated or even wear masks. Because of these idiots who either don't care about others or there brains refuse to listen to real science instead of their political side, the rest of us with serious medical problems suffer.

I was called by my doctor when I was eating supper in the cafeteria after a doctor appointment with a specialist. She had ordered blood work that afternoon and I did it before the appointment. The lab called her to tell her my sodium level was dangerous low! I was ordered to the ER for another test of it and if it was confirmed, to be treated over night.

I could die if this was correct and not treated in a hospital. I was quickly seen but since I was stable, I was sent to a hallway to sit in a chair to wait for a doctor to look at me. I was given an EKG in the intake part before that. There was about 15 others with 1 nurse and 1doctor trying to order tests and treat. NO BEDS were available and all of us looked stable enough to sit in chairs.

It took them over 2 1/2 hours to have me tested. Another gentleman across from me had been sent to the ER by a specialist since his blood pressure was 80 over 50! In normal time, all of us would have been in a bed in ER and quickly treated. When my test came back just out of the dangerous level, I was sent home at 9:30. The EKG wasn't read until the next morning and it came back abnormal.

Why the 5 stars after that experience, the staff and the system they set up are trying their best and it is not there fault that too many in America are failing them. While I was there, the ones who could barely sit up got help quickly. That male nurse was caring and tried to give individual service. If you think those who refuse to be vaccinated or wear a mask and fight for their children to not wear them will not effect those of us who are vaccinated and wear mask, you are wrong.

If you need emergency care, you won't get it or have to wait hours. My problem is this is the second trip to an ER for this problem in 6 weeks. If I need a hospital bed, will it be there?

I went to see a podiatrist and was there for maybe 15 minutes. He poked at my foot for a minute, did not remove anything because there really wasn't anything to remove, he ultimately did nothing. I was charged a hospital room fee of $55 even though I never went to a hospital room or even left the room I was in. I was told this charge was standard for the procedure I was given, the only problem with that is I didn't have any sort of procedure done.

I spent hours on the phone with my insurance company and the billing department at Henry Ford asking why I'm being charged for a service that was never done. I was told "IF THE DOCTOR TAKES OUT AN INSTRUMENT HE WILL CHARGE YOU FOR IT". In this case the doctor took out a scalpel, swiped it two or three times along one spot on my foot, did not remove anything, and now I'm being charged $55. Just be careful when you receive your bill and make sure you review it because they're charging people for ridiculous reasons

Not the newest or fanciest hospital in the Detroit area.but the care and compassion of the staff and doctors is much better than all of the others I have been to with my now 87 year old father.

Pretty good hospital. My mom got sent here instead of her normal hospital, St John Ascension Macomb. I can for sure say this hospital is 10000000 times better than her original hospital. These people are very attentive and caring. They made sure my mother was comfortable and had the best care possible. Obviously there were wait times because it's a hospital and I understand.

But they got my mother in as quickly as possible to help her during an emergency. Rachel was her nurse on her last day there, on the 2nd floor and she was awesome. She also had a student training with her, a young man, who was so kind, so helpful, and kept a smile on all our faces. Thank you Henry Ford for caring for my mother. I would definitely love for her to transfer all her information and medical needs to this hospital because it was so nice to actually send her to a hospital that did its job. St. John ascension macomb on the other hand. Not so good. So once again, thank you Henry Ford.

BEWARE OF Dr. Hammoudeh Truly disappointed with parts of this hospital. The doctor Dr. Hammoudeh advised my Mom she needed to be on oxygen months ago. My mom didn't get approved for it when the doctor submitted the order because the doctor didn't properly handle the first visit. Yet they placed an order to Hart Medical Supply and said the equipment was ready to pickup.

My mom was informed to return in May to have everything properly done. This time they went through the proper procedures and told her it would be ready after sending the order downstairs to the medical supply store. Fast forward a few weeks later at the end of my, still no oxygen tank and my Mom landed in the hospital and had to be placed on oxygen.

I drove here from California when I was informed on 5/28 and arrived 5/30. I investigated this error even deeper aside from what my step father told me and discovered the medical supply store sent several request for my Mom's chart notes. The chart notes support the request for medical equipment along with the proper diagnosis code. I interrogated the medical supply store and the department on the 15th floor that saw my mom because this the chart notes wasn't sent.

Within 24 hours I able to get them to fix a long winded situation because this dated from her original visit months ago in March when it was determined she needed to be eligible. However, the doctor did not do the proper steps and they were contacted severs times from March 31 - End of May right before my Mom went into the hospital. BEWARE OF Dr. Hammoudeh. I will be reporting her to Michigan Board of Medicine.

've worked at this hospital as a total of 3 years. I recently transferred to a different unit and when I say I've never experienced such racism in my life. P2 Hematology / Oncology is a racist floor with a racist manager. It has a 5% staff of minorities. When complaints are made and HR brought in nothing was done. The manager blocks staff from transferring to other units and does so by making up lies. She's done it to the point everyone's aware so instead of transferring all of us leave. This hospital works it's staff to death in general speaking overall that's why everyone is leaving. My recommendation don't do it

Today I was seen right away at urgent care using the online tool to reserve my spot. Hands down Dr. Ross is the best. Dr. Ross didn't leave a stone unturned when it came to my medical concerns I really truly wish if I could make Dr. Ross my primary care doctor. Dr. Ross is god send.

If I could give zero stars I would. I scheduled a spot online per the recommendation of a customer rep when I called. Got there and was told two people were ahead of me. 4 people were called before the got to me after over an hour wait in the lobby. Once I got placed in a room I waited another 40 minutes until I just got up and left. Totally ridiculous. I could have been seen in the Emergency Department quicker. Will not return. Do not recommend. And I will let others know not to come here as well.

@HFHS_WLassiter3 Sir just let congratulate on a totally inept and incompetent logistics and supply chain at HF Detroit. An Af/Am attendant at the visitors desk Female was rude and insulent. @HenryFordNews @HFHS_WLassiter3 Please address this before I recover and compose something more damning for FB. E.

Don't be fooled by their reply. They never intended to fix it from the beginning, just wanted to save face on social media. They did call me and continued to maintain that they could not do anything about services at another hospital, even though this was a partnership with the other hospital that they had established and their error for not entering the referrals. They could easily credit my account with the 2 copays I am asking for the 2 wasted trips, a very reasonable request, all things considered. Shame on you, Henry Ford!

This is the second time I review Henry Ford Hospital in downtown Detroit, MI, or the Henry Ford Health System in general describing it, yet agin, that it is worse than hospitals in the Third World countries. My 17-year-old son has been sick for two weeks now. When he first started throwing up we tried to make an appointment with his doctor, but Henry Ford refused and told us to take him to emergency.

When we got the ER in Dearborn, they decided after four hours to send him by ambulance to Children's Hospital. At Children's it was worse. He waited with his mother about 10 hours and at midnight was send back home without knowing what was wrong with him. No diagnosis and no medication whatsoever. We tried again to follow up with his Henry Ford primary Doctor when his condition worsened, but we were declined and directed again to their no-use ER. Finally, we took him to a local Urgent Care clinic and he was diagnosed with ear infection and bronchitis.

He came home with medication which helped him a little and finally made him recover after 8 days in pain and agony. Henry Ford had no clue to what was wrong with him and no diagnosis and did not even care about his health. After that we were still concerned about his health, so we scheduled an appointment for him with ENT doctor at Henry Ford Hospital downtown.

The appointment was confirmed by a scheduler at Henry For at 1:00 P.M. In fact, it was twice confirmed. When we got there, they said his appointment was 2:30 P.M. instead of 1:00 P.M., without any explanation to the confirmations we got. Anyways, we had to get ready before noon to go to downtown, only to make us wait another 5-6 hours. On top of that and to make matters worse, they refused to have ENT Doctor see him. Instead, they had scheduled the appointment with a nurse practitioner.

With all due respect to all nurses, we had so many questions and concerns obviously and we wanted to ask the Specialist Doctor all kinds of questions about my son, but apprently Henry Ford Hospital did not care enough to have a specialist examine him after 10 days of illness. Now, this is infuriating and very frustrating. If you do not have the proper care or you don't give a damn about a patient, say so. Then, we can never set a foot in Henry Ford system's clinic or hospital again.

We do have our health Insurance and we do not need this aggravation and insouciant attitude and horrible service. Our children are our lives and for a Hospital to treat us like that is inexcusable and unfair. I call upon all parents to ponder this and call Henry Ford for what it is and spread the word of shoddy medical care and terrible service.

Yesterday, around noon my daughter fell off her bicycle and was lacerated on her left leg. By 12:25 we arrived at the ER of the main Henry Ford hospital @henryfordhealthsystem. we were taken in the back immediately only because I was holding her and they had no wheelchairs available. She was placed on a stretcher and this was the first and ONLY time someone asked to see the injury.

We waited here about 15 minutes. From there to a hallway where we were registered. Shortly after that we were moved to some corner that was barely a room. This is where we waited and waited for someone, anyone to come see her, try to make her comfortable, ANYTHING. We waited for close to 2 hours for absolutely no action. I understand that the cases are prioritized, but how do you prioritize when no one has assessed the patient.

We made the decision to leave and take her to Beaumont Hospital's ER @beaumonthealth where she received AMAZING care. She was bandaged when we arrived for her wait (as we were still holding the cut with a bloody washcloth). Waited maybe 30 minutes before we saw a doctor and then she had a room within 15 of that. She had xrays to check for bone injuries and was stitched up shortly after.

Her treatment team were friendly and so prompt with her. She had an amazing experience although she was terrified and I want to thank @beaumonthealth for that. She left with a popsicle, a smile and absolutely confident that she would be alright. We asked her if she could tell the difference between the first hospital and the second and she said yes the people and service are so much better here.

As for Henry Ford @henryfordhealthsystem I have a permanent bad taste in my mouth for you! We trusted you with my husband's care last year for meningitis and it was the most horrible and frustrating experience. It was completely wreckless care on so many levels. Never again. I couldn't care less that you're the closest hospital to me, I or whoever will suffer a longer car ride before we trust your system for care.

Worst hospital I've ever been in, we were treated like criminals in the emergency room, not one person was helpful, my father came here from an other hospital, so we came to be with him, Why are all the people working here so rude, is it because of the area they are in? I don't want anyone to be overly nice to me but I don't want to be talked down to, shame on them if they don't like what they do, shame on the administration for keeping there people working here.shame

So. Where to begin. I am accompanying a disabled senior relative who will soon be having surgery. First visit, patient self park lot entrance was deactivated and closed. No sign. So each car pulled up, tried mechanism. Backed out. Next car, tried mechanism, backed out. Extensive wait for valet who said that entrance was closed. Wheelchairs only available at front entrance?

At a hospital? Said relative needs infusion services prior to surgery. Relative is senior, disabled, and ILL. Infectious disease department refused to think outside the proverbial box to find a way for the patient to receive infusions close to home. Hmm. is there money in infusion services? Then they cancelled services WITHOUT notifying us, thus delaying pre-surgical process. Further review after said relative's hospital stay.stay tuned.

AlthoughHF Health Systems is one of the best, having been to the ER on multiple occasions for my dad, and tonight ( as I write this review) for myself, they have one of the worst ER's I have ever been too. It's slow and they are severely understaffed. I have been waiting for 3 hours and 10 minutes as we speak. Not a single nurse other than 1 intake nurse, has come to check on me or make sure I am the right person.

The ER's don't even have pillows for you to rest your head on once your in an actual ER room. I am considering leaving within 10 minutes of the doctor doesn't bring it! WTF! Maybe if I was bleeding or dying they would be much quicker on visiting a patient.

One of my issue with this place is the parking. It costs $2.50. I'll never understand why one should have to pay for parking at a HOSPITAL. I've even been told that I still had to pay the $2.50 for being inside for literally 7 minutes, dropping off paperwork with an advocate at the front desk. I didn't even see a doctor, but I had no choice but park in the structure.

Aside from that, you need to have ample time to even search for a spot, before your appointment. Which leads to my next issue. I've never had an actual appointment, at THIS location, that started on time. Ever. Always a 20+ minute wait. For the most part, the staff is polite and seem to care. I came through emergency, once, and had a procedure done and my engagement ring went missing. The nurse made it her mission to find it. I wish I could remember her name, but I'll never forget her face.

I have only been to the Henry Ford Hospital Detroit for Orthopaedics when I was treated after a dislocated hip. While the doctors, nurses, and everyone I dealt with then were all Professonal and very good at what they do, the main issues I have with coming to this location are the traffic (depending on the time and day), the parking, and the generally older feel of the facilities here.

Recently I have been experiencing a pinched nerve and have been in Physical Therapy for a number of weeks to help with recovery. The Orthopaedics Surgeon I was scheduled to see to review the results of an MRI only works in this Henry Ford Hospital location so here I am. I allowed plenty of extra time to be able to be on time or early for my appointment.

After dealing with the usual morning rush hours, I finally arrived plenty early and followed the signs for self parking entrance where I got in line that was backed up. Then I played follow the leader around and around looking for an open spot. Because of my condition, I watched for the handicap spots.all full! Duh, it's a hospital. I finally found one not too far from the elevator and proceeded inside where I searched for the right elevators to get to my appointment. Oh, and the nominal charge for being able to self-park is $2.50.

If you come in by ambulance trust me you will suffer before ypu get any pain meds.! I waited 5 hours for pain meds 4 hours for water! By the time they bought the pain meds i didn't need it no more. Everybody i asked for pain meds lied and said they'd tell the nurse, i hate being lied to! This is by far my worst exsperince with them which was on 7/29/16 and ive been here plenty times in 12 years as i am a dialysis patient and always got something going on with me. I dont understand the reasoning for letting somebody be in pain that long!
