Horrible company! Unless you want a glitchy service with the worst costumer service imaginable. But hey at least they give you the option to wait with no Music for the whole hour you will be waiting to get someone on the phone. Their representatives are rude and their even more ridiculous due to the fact that they have no idea what they are talking about.
Avoid this death trap of a hosting service at all costs. It will really make you look bad in front of clients. I would leave negative stars if I could. But I truly hope they go out of business, or dramatically change their costumer service!

So I guess I'm just another victim of Media Temple's ineptitude. I don't even know where to start. but overall I do NOT recommend this company as a hosting site. Their process and procedures are lacking in so many ways. Getting things done are way too difficult and eventually I've lost my personal and business sites. It wasn't 100% their fault but I spent weeks trying to avoid this from happening and all that effort went nowhere.

Ladies and gentlemen of Yelp, allow me to tell you a story about the last three weeks of my life. As both a designer and photographer, I have hosted many a website in my time on this earth. I will think back on those times with a nostalgia of youthful innocence and wistfulness. Now that I've used Media Temple, I'm a different person. More callous. Hardened. I've seen the dark underbelly of hosting and I can no longer go back.
Three weeks ago, my boss tasked me with launching a new website for a project he's working on, and mentioned using Media Temple to get it started. If this review had a soundtrack, ominous music would begin playing right now, softly, just to quicken the pace of your heart a little bit. I purchased the domain he wanted from somewhere else, and then purchased a Wordpress managed package through Media Temple with Google Suite attached, because all we needed for the time being was a splash page and a directory of email addresses.
A splash page, guys. We're talking pretty basic material. I get a few hours into this experience, set up the splash page, and tragedy strikes. The G Suite cannot be set up. The domain cannot be transferred. And there is absolutely nothing offered by Media Temple as to why this misery is happening to me. So I open up the chat to speak with someone about the issue, and he blames Google (lol okay bye).
On top of being vehemently unhelpful, he's also a little rude, so I try calling in to speak with someone else. I'm a millennial. I don't like making phone calls to strangers and I avoid them at any cost. So you can see how dire this situation has become: I actually picked up my phone to call a customer service line. This man is nice, but he cannot find my account.
He can't find it with the account number. He can't find it with the order number. He can't find it with a name, email, or phone number. So as the red flags pile at my feet and this poor man scrambles to pretend he has any idea what's going on, I text my boss and tell him I think it's time to pull out from under the clutches of Media Temple.
This all happened on that first day. The remaining days of the three weeks I mentioned at the start of this novel were spent cleaning up the enormous mess Media Temple was able to make in such a short, short span of time. I opened a case to have the account closed, and received an email saying I had to open a case to close an account. So I opened a second case.
And then they had me do about six other repetitive things before I was placed in an eternal cycle of "Pending." I had to deal with Google support to drag my domain out of the clutches of wherever Media Temple put it so I could set up the Google Suite through them. And just today, I had to speak with someone in customer service at my new hosting platform who had to fix something Media Temple embedded that was causing the site to crash. If you got this far, I applaud your courage. TL;DR: Don't use Media Temple. Spare yourself the wrinkles and Excedrin PM and go elsewhere.

Excellent customer service! Making an appointment was easy, and the installation service was excellent. The installation technicians, Tor and Costas, arrived on time, talked me through the installation process, and were extremely courteous and professional. The internet service is working well so far, and I'm happy to be with a local company that charges great rates and is net-neutral!

I concur with all the reviews here. I stuck it out for years but got tired of them blaming me for every problem I was having. Customer service and tech support aren't phrases in their vocabulary. They like to direct you to articles written by nerds that no one can understand or tell you they don't support email or really the problem is due to something you did. They spend an enormous amount of time deflecting and preaching when they could have helped you in half the amount of time. Good riddance.

One of the support guys, Ryan, was such a dick. And it was so unnecessary. Look, I don't usually write negative reviews but this dude was so pretentious and not-helpful. Not to mention their hosting sucks! It is always down or slow. Really bad company. Do not do business with them. SiteGround is a much better alternative. They offer great customer support, they're always friendly and helpful. Stay away from MediaTemple like the plague.

I was with Media Temple for over 10 years. 6 months ago my credit card was stolen and I did not update my new card information with MT in time so they deleted all of my files. No backups! All data was gone. Then to add insult to injury they kept billing me until I had to call back and completely cancel the account. I would not recommend Media Temple to anyone. 1 Star is still being too kind. If I had the time, I'd sue them for failure to deliver the services I paid for.

Media Temple's shared Wordpress hosting is INCREDIBLY slow, and their customer service is awful. I work for a company that has a Wordpress site for lead generation, nothing else. No shopping cart or inventory, no checkout, just informational pages and a contact form. We have hosted with Media Temple for years, and I recently started working on improving our page speed to help our SEO and SERPs.
Media Temple's time to first byte (TTFB) is consistently above 2000 ms, which is incredibly high. When contacted about the slowness, MT insisted that our JavaScript code or the WP plugins or theme we chose to use was causing the slowness. To test this out, I signed up for a different hosting platform (cloudways), one of the few that will give you a free hosting trial period without even giving them a credit card number.
I cloned our site to the new host and with very little tweaking, our site ran on their server FOUR TIMES faster. Now, on the new host, our TTFB is around 500ms, instead of over 2000ms on Media Temple. That's a very damning fact for Media Temple. Their claims that our Wordpress codebase or plugins were causing the slowness are completely false. So, their hosted sites are slow, their customer service is bad, and on top of all this, our site suddenly started having SSL problems a few months ago.
We contacted Media Temple's support who fixed the problem and told us (vaguely) that our SSL certificate had been "uninstalled." Well how the hell did that happen? NO ONE uninstalled our SSL cert from OUR SIDE (we would never do that)! That means someone at Media Temple screwed up and removed our SSL cert and we lost business over it until it was fixed. AND they wrote it off like it was a random error and they had nothing to to with it. Also, our site randomly slows to a crawl (15+ seconds to fully load), and sometimes throws 503 errors. MT has no explanation for these random events.
I have read others' comments that since being purchased by GoDaddy several years ago, Media Temple has crammed more and more sites onto the same server clusters, guaranteeing that some sites will experience more slowness and random downtimes. STAY AWAY from Media Temple. Their hosting is incredibly slow, their customer service gives excuses that aren't backed up by facts, and if they screw up your site by accidentally removing your SSL cert, they'll never take responsibility for it.

I've been a client of Media Temple's for 14 years and my experience with them has been consistently fantastic. Prompt, knowledgable customer service and quick tech assistance. My site's hosting has been consistent with very little downtime and always quickly resolved. Very happy with their services.

This company used to be great, but as of lately, the support has been terrible: 1. Phone support suddenly stops here and there. 2. Over 12 hours response time on critical issues 3. No ability to mark support tickets as normal, standard, urgent or emergency 4. Backups are only performed weekly (as opposed to various competitors like Rochen, Siteground who do daily backups) 5. Content goes missing? Not their problem, but they'll happily charge $80 to restore from their backups. NOT RECOMMENDED!

They have a policy that if you have multiple websites with them, even some that were old and you no longer use, if you don't pay for them they shut down all your sites. You don't get a phone call you don't get a text message that they're about to shut down your site. All you do get is one of their many automated emails, which you get so many you can't tell the difference of one from another This company has caused me thousands of dollars in lost revenue. I highly suggest you go elsewhere with your business.

Why did I recommend this hosting service to my client? I have one site on Media Temple and it is great but the site I launched in February 2018 is a constant struggle. My site threw random, different errors like an internal server error, error establishing a database connection, and partially loaded pages. I got all 3 of 'em in one day so I called and asked for a supervisor to call me back but the technician wrote the wrong phone number down.
I had to call back and wait on hold, talk to the technician, get a new referral and wait for another callback. Of course the site was fine by then. Poof. Magic. If my site was broken then it was broken and does not spontaneously fix itself. But if the server clusters or herds are jacked up the site would behave this way. The person that I was talking to kept saying 'for sure' like the song valley girl and I felt like I was talking to such a green apple it was ridiculous. Try Site 5 hosting.

We have been satisfied with their web hosting, but are switching to another provider because of ongoing issues with emails being blacklisted by Microsoft. This first happened back in March and it took eight weeks to resolve. It just happened again (August). We are told that our work around is to use a third party email service and that there was no estimate regarding when this would be resolved.
We were OK with this happening the first time because we understand that issues happen with technology. But we are NOT OK with this being an ongoing issue. Also, it is NOT OK to suggest that we use a third party email service for our business when we are paying for (and clients are expecting to receive from) our business email. Also, it is NOT OK to tell us "too bad, same price" or not offer some kind of compensation when we suggest moving just the email, but not web hosting to another service. No effort at all to retain our business. They are more expensive than their competition, so while this is a hassle for us to switch, it will be a savings in the long run.

I love MediaTemple! They always answer the phone. Mostly, I don't need to call them because everything flows along on my server with around 80 sites. When I do need them, they are extremely patient and helpful. I always learn something I didn't know I didn't know. I've been online since 1998 and have built websites in html, FrontPage, Dreamweaver, and Wordpress. I believe you will love their Managed Wordpress security, automatic backups, and malware scans.

No complaints, just compliments. I remember seeing Media Temple logo on footer of design gallery websites like QBN / Newstoday and I thought I would become a client when I got enough money for it. Now I'm a happy customer since 2013. $20 is a bit expensive considering the dollar to brazilian real conversion and in front of other hosting options. But I won't regret my decision.
I'm into this Internet thing since 1998 and I tested a lot of hosts since then and Media Temple is zero headache beyond a shadow of a doubt. The staff is fantastic every single time I need support.

If you've been in this industry for a few years, you realize that ALL hosting companies have occasional issues, but Media Temple does a great job, especially with telephone support which is the best I've experienced. I especially like the fact that they actually send out a email synopsis of the support issue for your records -- who else does that? Overall, a great hosting company. Update: May 2014.
Since the Go Daddy takeover, I feel like things have deteriorated. It takes much longer to get through to tech support on the phone, and there's just the general feeling that the dark corporate hand of Go Daddy will eventually screw up Media Temple to the point where it's no longer different or better than other alternatives. Hanging in there for now, but keeping my eyes open for trouble. Update September 2014: The fun is over -- I'm out.
The quality of hosting and support has really dropped. The Grid service, which used to be pretty good, has suffered badly -- it's just miserable now, very slow and starved for resources. Media Temple no longer competes with alternatives. I migrated all my sites to another host. Be aware that most hosting review sites are affiliates of the companies they "review". When evaluating a host, check Google local reviews and Yelp too for a more balanced picture.

Here is what I can say about Media Temple only having been with them for a few months. As I was new to the interface I was on unfamiliar ground and had a lot of basic questions on where things were and how to use them and tech support was right there when I needed them. Now that I am somewhat familiar with where things are I am beginning to like the simplicity and intuitiveness (if there is such a word) of the interface and information architecture.
So far I am very pleased and looking forward to digging into the more complex features they offer. There is a problem going on with their web mail and a work around was offered instead of a solution.

I have been a web developer since the 90s. I have dealt with all kinds of hosting issues and providers. Media Temple is the horrible considering it is 2016. We have frequent outages of service and connection. The always blame our connection. I will tell them that I can't hit their sftp server from our business line, my mobile hot spot or my home connection and they still blame the connection!
All three can't be broken! Their interface is buggy, their wordpress product is clunky, I feel they are also overpriced. I have rarely had this kind of problem with a hosting company in recent years. I would not work with them and when approached by a client I try to persuade them to use any other host.

Can't believe all the negativity I'm seeing in some of these reviews. Media Temple has been a cut above the rest when it comes to web hosts. Support is always on top of their game, and I've never hung up the phone feeling unsatisfied. I've been on their Grid for the past 3 years, and I have never found the need to look elsewhere. They keep my sites up, they don't give me the run around, and they have been consistent (which I can't say for a lot of hosting companies out there)

For those who are looking for a reputable company to host your site- who has standards and integrity and the best interest of their clients at heart. You DEFINITELY do not want Media Temple. A few weeks after we began hosting with MT, we were hacked on their server and all of our files were infected. We called Media Temple to ask them if they knew how this could have happened and they totally turned their backs on us and took no responsibility for even alerting or notifying us that there was a problem.
We had to shut the entire site down and re-build for the severity of the infections that got past their supposedly secure servers. They promise a lot when they want to sign you up for their programs, but beware. They are the worst on customer service who care nothing about their clients except for getting their money and if a client needs their help.they turn a deaf ear.
It's all about the money with this company. They are also overpriced for what you don't receive! There are so many other hosting companies out there who want to work with their clients and help them to grow. Media Temple is not one of them. Buyer BEWARE!

Love the GRID hosting. Even though they may have their issues with downtime, name me a host that has never gone down. I've hosted my websites there for the past 5 years, and we've had nothing but great service. Their support team is 2nd to none, and the Grid has kept us up and running even with heavy traffic we experience in the summer months. Even when there is an issue, Media Temple's support team via Twitter will communicate with you immediately. The communication is always there and that is extremely important to our website and founding members.

Terrible service and experience. Signed up for a "premium" account that caused the site to load slowly and get errors. After 2 weeks of it being a disaster we decided to pull the plug and switch hosts. Although we told multiple people via phone, chat and email to cancel and refund our account, we didn't physically click to cancel our account in their system.
That means $0 refund. We paid a full year for a god awful service that was used less than 3 weeks. Because of their terrible hosting and technicians- our website didn't even function properly for those 3 weeks. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They're great and nice over the phone-- all goes down hill after that.

Media temple really used to be a great company but it has really gone down hill. I am a current customer and customer service is practically useless. Trying to do the most basic things are difficult. They seem to have no concept of customer retention. as soon as i can find time i will move my server to another hosting company that is more customer focused. its not like they are even cheap, so you would think you pay more for better service but all you get is push back and convoluted process.

I cannot believe that this company has such horrible service. I have used super cheap hosts and never had any issues. My problem started with simply trying to sign up for service. I read the bad reviews, but figured that people were being dramatic. Surely they have good service with so many positive reviews from bloggers, right? NOPE. Most of those bloggers are promoting the company because they are affiliates and they are getting paid.
Most of them do not even use Media Temple themselves. I tried to sign up for a personal hosting plan. I was charged immediately, but I received an email that my hosting was "pending" with no explanation as to why. I was immediately alarmed, as I have used different hosting companies and never had any problems receiving instant access. I decided to try to be patient.
This was a Sunday, so there was no one available to help me, anyway. A sales agent was supposed to review the transaction and respond within one business day. Of course, I didn't receive a welcome email with my account information or a response. After one business day, I sent an email requesting to cancel the order and receive a refund. I received an email reply that my order was cancelled, but I had to CALL for a refund. WHAT?
They charged me, but never processed my order. Then, I cancelled it, but still had to call customer service for a refund. Every other company in America either doesn't charge until service is rendered, or they instantly refund money paid once an order is cancelled. Not Media Temple. "Raymond" is the person that I corresponded with via email and he made no offer to forward my refund request to billing, even after I complained about this process. So, I then call and the people in billing act like I have no idea what I'm talking about and continuously gave me smart mouth responses like "I'm sorry that you feel that way" when I'm staring at the CHARGE on my account.
This is an unbelievably poor service experience and i don't plan on wasting any more time with Media Temple and will instead be talking directly to my BANK. I never received an explanation from "mt" on why my original request for hosting did not get processed and I ended up wasting an entire business day and over an hour on the phone. Don't waste your time with these folks. I can only be thankful that I didn't invest many years and thousands of dollars.
