I highly recommend Dr. Werter and Coastal Podiatry Associates. I have visited 2 locations, Roark Street and Glens Bay locations. The entire staff is friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. I have had "life long foot issues" and have seen many specialists in the past. I look forward to my appointments with Dr. Werter and his wonderful staff,

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience. when my husband called to make the appointment for me they told him they couldn't tell him how much it would be to get my toe looked at. Hmm okay. so I arrive at the appointment and I ask before anything how much it will cost just to get my toe looked at (paying out of pocket, so of course I'd love an idea)?
Once again still can't tell me! I did not feel comfortable or at ease about the procedure, I explained I have a lot of anxiety and the thought of cutting open my toe I wasn't prepared to do something same day. I said I wanted to wait a few days to set up the appointment to be prepared (now that I know what I have to have done) and then all of a sudden the front desk lady figured out the 5 minutes of me talking to the doctor about my options was worth $70. Needless to say I absolutely did not return. I did however go to Low Country Foot Specialists and I felt 100% welcome and at ease.

No complaints with the actual toenail clipping. I had been to Coastal Podiatry in the summer and the doctor did a fine job and, this time around, the toenail clipping was fine again. (I don't go to nail salons for pedicures during Covid.) My negative review is because on my second visit I had such a bizarre experience that I have no plans of ever returning to Coastal Podiatry again. Things started out okay.
A technician came in and trimmed the nails on all my toes except the two big toes, then she left after the doctor arrived. He quickly trimmed the nails on my two big toes. That took about two minutes or less. As he hung up his tools abd I slipped into my shoes, I said something like, "Well thanks! I hope you and your staff stays healthy during this pandemic." Well, that comment triggered something in the doctor because he proceeded to lecture me on what he thinks about the Covid-19 pandemic.
I sat there awkwardly in his treatment chair as his venting-session went on for what seemed like FOREVER but was probably more like 10 minutes. He and I were both wearing masks, so he couldn't tell that my jaw dropped open as he began to spout his theory that Covid is made worse by "THE MEDIA" and that EVERYONE will probably get it and that only a tiny percentage of the people who do will actually die.
He thinks everyone who tests positive should immediately get "Hydroxychloriquine (sp?)". Meanwhile, I'm just sitting there listening to his rant. He mentions that his wife, a retired family practitioner, doesn't really see eye to eye with him on this topic. But he reserved most of his anger for a female neighbor of his who he said doesn't like President Trump, although he didn't go into details about how he knows this about his neighbor and what that might have to do with Covid.
This strange episode with my podiatrist took place before the November 3rd general election, but the doctor would have had no way of knowing if I was a Trump supporter or not.) I didn't say ANYTHING while he was ranting but I was trying to hatch a plan for how to get out of the office. He was speaking in a loud voice that was probably audible to anyone walking past the exam room.
He seemed to be getting more and more frustrated as he went on and on. But then he seemed to have reached the end of his soliloquy as quickly as it began. I asked when he wanted to see me again and I said, "okay, Doc, I'll see you in December. Be safe." I quickly got out of there. I sat in my car for about 10 minutes thinking, "what the heck just happened?!"

When i arrived i was scared even after having watched "toe bro" inpreparation. The staff was so nice! Especially the assistant (Shonda) who was very professional and sweet. Dr. Werter had a great personality and was very quick. The procedure was painless and over before i knew it had begun. I am positive I will be going back to have the same procedure repeated on my other foot very soon. Already referred a friend to them as well. Thank you so much!

I was on vacation from California and I hurt my toe really bad. I called for an emergency appointment and they got me in within the hour. Dr. Scott took excellent care of me. I was really scared and he helped me to feel at ease. My accident happened in the morning and so I did not have any breakfast. I felt like was going to faint when he was taking care of my foot.
He and his staff made sure I was okay and stayed with me the whole time. It's scary to have an emergency when you are traveling and I truly appreciated how well they took care of me. Thank you Dr. Scott and staff!

Where do I begin. I am writing this for my grandfather who is 88 years old. This office encouraged my grandfather to get special shoes that were promised to be covered by Medicare wouldn't have to pay a cent. Long and behold a couple of weeks later he received a bill over $180 (what the insurance wouldn't pay). However, that's not why I am writing this review.
When my grandfather went to his next visit the woman at the front desk said loudly that they would not see my grandfather until the bill was paid. It was embarrassing and uncalled for. The fact that she would say this loudly in a full waiting area absolutely floored me. A courtesy call would have sufficed. We will NEVER return. What a classy receptionist

I had heel pain and needed to see a podiatrist. I called to make an appointment and was told they don't take my insurance. (state insurance) I then asked how much an office visit would cost she indicated I needed to contact my insurance to see what it would cost or which doctors were in network. I did that and called them back. I asked if they took self paying clients.
The response was yes. Next question, ok, how much would an office visit cost. Response I don't know, that information is out of the billing office. I understand there is a basic fee and possible additional fees. But wanted to know if the fee was 100.00 or 300.00 for a basic office visit. Need less to say I have an appointment with another physician. I realize I don't really matter in their world but I feel they could have given me at least some kind of estimate. DD, Little River

Mixed review as provider was helpful on 1st visit when I came in with severe pain from plantar fasciitis and got relief. Was overcharged though after 2nd visit and after numerous phone calls still waiting for refund of payment as they charged over the Medicare claimed amount for my deductible which begins every January. Just a caution if you go in January and have Medicare.
