Waiting room took a little time to filter through but was to be expected based off staffing shortages, and addicts that were in there trying to get their next pain pill or whining about how horrible they're life has been. Once I was admitted I would say it was one of the better hospitals I have been in, with alot of great nurses and nursing assistants. Two that came to mind that were really cool was Kendyl and Jack, both were very attentive and helpful.

Spent roughly 2-1/2 hours in ER waiting area with very bad abdominal pain from Spigelian hernia, surgery had already been scheduled by a specialist, but required a CT scan to pinpoint the surgical incision area when it is acting up. I was told to go to ER asap. Nobody ever came for me, only vitals taken. No time estimates or any communication, finally got up and left! Very disgusted.

Brought my daughter here, 15 years old for side and abdominal pain. It was 10:30 pm, the "manager" of the ER department walked in 15 min. Behind my daughter and I with her father. She brought him in to be evaluated after falling at his home. No signs or symptoms of anything being wrong other than he fell. He even said repeatedly he was not hurt. He went right back to get checked out.
He was released while we were still waiting to be seen. We sat for over 2 hours just to find out my daughter has cancer. So bad we had to be taken to devos but had to wait until morning now. This hospital needs to evaluate their staff. It's been an issue for over 15 years. Enough is enough.

My kid was bit by a dog and had to wait 6 hours to even be seen with open wounds on his face. Meanwhile a prisoner and few people with coughs got in before us. Almost went home and called an ambulance just to get in. This is ridiculous. Pay your workers correctly. Pretty obvious youre short staffed. When people have to wait half a day its no surprise the nurses and med assistants get angry patients and quit from being burnt out. Management is the problem.

I spent four days in Munson, after experiencing a bout of hyponatremia. It was a scary, painful time for me, and I am so grateful for the entire staff, from nursing to the lab techs who had to draw my blood, for their kindness, caring and professionalism. It made my stay bearable. And the doctors were wonderful; they literally saved my life. They also were kind and caring, and took the time to explain my condition to me and my family.

This is literally the worst place I've ever been to. We are from Grand Rapids and ended up here because our son hurt himself at Great Wolf Lodge. We brought our two year old in for a gashed chin. Never gave us a waiting time or any updates. We had to ask several times how much longer it would take. After five hours, they finally told us they didn't have anyone that did stitches until a specific time.
This would have been great information to know, especially with a two year old! If this place is recommended, literally go any where else. I would give zero stars if I could.

I was forced to get a mental evaluation done here. So I showed up on my own accord that or be arrested if they found me. So I had no choice. But knowing I was just fine and actually some of t happiest I've been I didn't think anything of it really just had to get it done and be free. I was evaluated when I arrived by someone named Dr. police funny name right very rememberable.
Well this doctor knew me from safe harbor shelter where I had been working prior to this evaluation. So not mentioning and also denying she ever volunteered there when I asked. She gave me a biased and unprofessional evaluation and had already made her mind up before seeing me. You. being asked about harming others or myself I clearly stated I had no intentions of either.
This should've been where I was let go. Instead dr police suggested that I be further evaluated in her biased opinion and forced me to stay the night at the hospital. This was not only a violation of my freedom but an utter lie. The next day I was immediately released. Now they want to try and charge me a 4000 dollar plus bill. For services I didn't need and for forced treatment and evaluation. Needless to say DR.
Police gets a failing grade in her evaluation. I would think twice about receiving care or much of anything from her. Peace. But not for doctor police she is now cursed and her spirit will be punished in the astral plane where I will Locate and make her pay possibly forcing her to be evaluated by someone who is biased towards her. Her dreams will haunt her till she learns bye for now. I won't do anything in reality I don't need to she will reap what she has and continues to sew. Peace

The young woman that performed my manometry test was absolutely wonderful, 5 stars! But. the male nurse working the floor that day should not be complaining about the random things that some patients do or questions they ask while other patients are clearly within hearing distance of his complaints.

Gave birth to my beautiful baby girl here at Munson. Everyone was extremely nice and accommodating in labor and delivery. My Nurse Madelyn went above and beyond, Madelyn made my stay at Munson 5 Stars! Madelyn treated my fiance and I like friends instead of just a patient, she genuinely cared about ours and babies wellbeing. Madelyn professionally talked us through everything and made she we understood what was going on at all times.
She held my hand throughout labor and cheered me on when I thought I couldn't take it anymore. Madelyn was an exceptional Nurse and made our baby's delivery Smooth and so much less nerve racking for us. Thank you Madelyn!

I was told My loved one contracted covid while being treated for other illnesses at same time. I was told he was being transferred to another facility for rehabilitation not a word for covid isolation. If you don't believe the conspiracy you will should you experience what I did. I want to thank the nursing staff the one's who clearly love the career they chose. The others- you know who you are find a career that doesn't involve compassion is byutterly clear to patients and visitors your hearts not in it.

Killing people! I have a loved one in Munson with Covid! His oxygen is up, he's eating, talking and able to get out of his bed. He overheard his nurse telling another patient that the only people leaving this hospital are the vaccinated ones and the rest are going to die. They NOW said the same to him and letting him know how they can make his death easier!
What the hell is wrong with these doctors/nurses? I've never seen such unprofessional behavior in my life. Giving these poor people no hope or faith and telling them they are going to die! Something better change today or this is going to the press and all over social media! Go to Petoskey! They have non vaccinated patients living and going home. Very sickening

Absolutely, bar-none, the lowest rung of medical care I have EVER had the misfortune of experiencing in the entire country. Thoroughly incompetent, rude, apathetic, almost spiteful, staff. Their go-to cure-all is a bottle of Advil, and a "You're fine, go home". I hate this hospital with all of my heart, and you are all a disgrace to the Hippocratic Oath. I can do a better job than any member of their ER staff, and I'm just a pharmacist.

This morning at 2am I took my wife to the emergency. She was very sick. After about 90 minutes they took blood from her. After waiting another 2.5 hours I asked if we would be able to see someone. Sorry, all our beds are full and we don't know when that will change. After another hour and a half (now 5 1/2 hours) of my sick wife sitting in uncomfortable chairs, we decided to leave and contact our primary doctor. Horrible experience!

I went by ambulance (MMR will get their own one star review) to Munson with chronic pancreatitis. A condition I have had for years. I was left in a wheelchair after MMR unloaded me for two hours. I had vitals, and blood drawn almost immediately. But that is where any forward motion ended. Due to the excessive pain I was in I crawled onto one of the chairs in the fetal position. Rotating ever few minutes due to the amount of pressure on my abdomen.
A nurse comes by and drops a urine cup on the wheelchair. She didn't ask if I needed help to restroom. I could not sit up much less stand up. After two hours my mom called me to ask if I was seen yet when I said no she was livid. She contacted the nursing supervisor in the ER who stated that I was sleeping, which I was not. No one checked on me until after my mom called. She, herself was a ER nursing supervisor.
If it wasn't for my mom I don't know how long I would have waited. Unfortunately, getting put in a room didn't mean much because I was asked to put on a gown and left alone. I waited for another hour to have an IV started for hydration. Nausea and pain medication took awhile. While necessary, pain and nausea medication wasn't as important as getting an IV started.
My pain tolerance is pretty high. When my labs came back my lipase levels were well above 2000 normal is 0 to 80. My white blood cell count and liver enzymes were also elevated. On my CT Scan they found necrotic pits. This was confirmed by my specialist in Ann Arbor. That said it took 14 hours to get a bed. I followed up with my pancreatic specialist just over two weeks later.
He was horrified by my treatment in the ER. On my ER report it stated I was ambulatory ( walking) which I was not nor could not. He was appalled by the time it took to receive hydration. Especially considering how elevated my enzymes were. My condition can go from bad to fatal very fast. There is always a possibility of hemorrhaging from this condition.
With each attack the risk is greater. Considering Munson is my only option for immediate care I'm stuck dealing with them if I have another attack. If I was given another option you can bet I would take it.

The care is at best mediocre, but the customer service is awful. The only people that are friendly are the folks in patient accounts. The staff that greeted me was rude and unhelpful. The radiology nurse was friendly enough. The nurse and PA were too. Thats about the best of it. They took my xray, didn't show it to me (i was later told i could have requested to see it, right, like i am going to wait another hour for that).
They gave me lidocaine and came back so much later to do the sutures that it had started to wear off to the point where another dose was needed to keep the area numb. I elected to skip the additional dose in the interest of time and not wanting any extra sticks. I was given almost no aftercare information, except go see your primary care doctor in 8-10 days to have sutures removed and that my primary may recommend a hand surgeon.why didn't they recommend one immediately if it was needed?
I did go to my hand surgeon after my primary care dr suggested it, turns out it wasn't even broken. At least the screw up was in my favor. I was in the hospital for three hours to get 5 sutures. I get triage and maybe that was just how it was, but it sure didn't seem that busy. fast forward, i call patient accounts and decide my experience is worth mentioning.
They tell me that a patient liaison will be in touch. a week later i receive a dismissive letter telling me my concerns are unfounded. So i call back and tell the patient liaison how dismissive the letter was and how horrible my experience was from a customer service point of view and i get hung up on. "thank you, your concerns are noted in your file. (click)" Good job Munson, way to be. (i don't actually mean that)

It's bad enough you have to wait in their emergency room for hours to get help. No they have to make it much worse and buy five dollar chairs to sit on. Who ever was in charge of buying this furniture should be fired now! Trying to figure out what they were thinking to base this discussion on. Were they thinking people will be coming in not feeling well or just had an accident.
Let's make it more of a living hell and buy the cheapest chairs on the market, that will teach them not to get sick or have accidents Unbelievable a hospital in the 21st century can be so heartless! First off they should be comfortable second they should recline! Plus - I have told friends for years to stop at a gas station before you get to Munson when visiting love ones - gas station bathroom or much cleaner.
Nurse are amazing top notch- now if the board members can do their job this hospital would be excellent! Pay more hours to cleaning people- and fire the person that order the furniture and the person that approved it!

Most nurses are nice and care here. none of them are treated right here. Doctors here seem good, but most shouldn't communicate with people. not as clean as I'd like and they seem to think more vinegar means cleaner surfaces. Biggest issue, communication. My dad's surgery was supposed to be a simple 2 hour surgery. Didn't find out that it was not simple nor 2 hours until 4 hours into surgery. he was supposed to be out the next day, might be out a week after surgery.
Oh and policies are set and enforced in each area differently and each charge nurse enforces differently. If you have to come here, expect some rudeness, incorrect or incomplete information, and don't expect updates on anything. I'd give 4 stars for the nurses and the staff who help them. 3 stars for doctors expertise. 0 stars for communication. 1 star for cleanliness. If there is another option nearby, go there instead.
