Wasn't sure if my insurance covered my daughter's teenage acne. I told the office it didn't matter to me if my insurance covered that I needed to get her in to see the doctor. Acne can be a huge issue and erode a teenagers confidence and self-esteem. The cost for treatment was not a factor here and that I had no problem paying straight cash for the appointment.
Not only could I not get an appointment for 4 weeks (good for them for being so busy) but the kicker here was that I was told that they do not accept CASH. What? why? Are they charging the insurance more than cash paying customers? I was taken back and felt so weird about the conversation that I decided to make an appointment elsewhere.

I was searching for a female dermatologist. I survived childhood trauma & male doctors trigger me a great deal. I waited a little over a month for my appt. I arrived early with my patient forms already completed. I had brown spots that had grown pretty quickly & I was really concerned. The Dr I saw checked my back for any skin issues, none were found.
As she was leaning against the medical cabinet, she kind of bent forward & briefly looked at my brown spots. "They're normal." she says. Doesn't ask any questions about them, didn't look at them closely, didn't palpate them, nothing. (They've actually grown pretty rapidly in the last 6 months, they bleed at times & they itch.) She was able to quickly tell me that Medicare doesn't cover the removal but she had a discounted offer that I could opt for, if I chose to remove them.
She suggested a bleaching cream for a brown spot on my face, which was THE ONLY option other than laser treatment, which they don't do. She told me to get dressed & she would be back with information. I had barely enough time to get my bra back on, I was pressing it against myself, when she opens the door & walks right in. I was thoroughly embarrassed & severely triggered at this!
Not only was she dismissive of me but she couldn't even give me the courtesy of privacy so I could get dressed! The entire appt took, at most, 10 minutes. My son had driven me & when I walked out he asked "That's it?" She also sent the Rx for the bleaching cream to the wrong pharmacy. I had to call & have this corrected. I now have to wait another 3 weeks for an appt with a different dermatologist (not in her office) because I want my brown spots to be properly evaluated, not just peeked at.
I did call & speak with the office manager. He was apologetic & assured me that, given my poor experience & the fact that I now need to see someone else, he would not bill Medicare. I insisted that I wanted him to get paid but he still refused. The front office staff was very nice. Unfortunately, I would NOT refer anyone to this provider.

I have been taking my daughter to Dr. Sun in Camarillo for a couple of years now. We always had a great experience with her at the Camarillo office. The Camarillo office closed on May 1, 2020. I called 2 weeks ago to make an appointment for an itchy painful rash my daughter was having on her toes. It took 2 weeks to get the appointment and we had to make it with another doctor, Dr. Chiu.
The appt was set for 11:50. I have never been to the Oxnard office and didn't give myself enough time with the traffic from Camarillo to Oxnard. It was much heavier than normal. We arrived 10 minutes late. I was told that the doctor left and that I should have called. I acknowledge that I was late but I've never had a doctor leave at noon because I was 10 min late. Does that mean that she was only planning on spending 10 minutes with us anyways?
I was told that I needed to reschedule my appt. trust me when I tell you that I've had to wait longer for my appts In the past and I didn't leave! I literally said no to the rescheduling. We really liked Dr Sun and I'm bummed that we had this experience. I do not appreciate how they are running their business nor the way that the office staff handled it.
We will be looking for another dermatologist. I took my lunch break from work to make this appt happen.complete waste of time. Had to wait two weeks to even get in, the rash was actually all cleared up but thought I'd keep the appt to show the doctor pics and see what they thought was going on. I do not recommend!

Just called to schedule an appointment for my son who is 6 months with a rash. The receptionist was very rude and told me I had to wait until APRIL to see Dr. Sun. I explained he had a Flared up rash and needed to be seen sooner and she basically told me there is nothing they can do. I'm astounded considering this is a medical group. They seem to not have any sense of urgency especially for babies.

We were patients of Dr Lau for years. I referred all my friends there. He is kind, spends as much time as needed, and very knowledgeable. My daughter developed a severe rash on her hands that was painful. When we called, i was informed that he did not have an opening for over 1 month- he does NOT take more urgent issues with ONGOING patients, nor do they have a cancellation list.
I was encouraged to take her to urgent care if it was that bad. I took her to our family doctor who gave us a few different creams, and even put her on a steroid, which did nothing. I called the office back, basically begging for anything, and they again informed me to take her to urgent care, they do NOT try to squeeze in patients with more urgent needs, and again i was told there is NO CANCELLATION LIST.
My family doctor put in a call to another dermatologist and they got us in the next day, because they wanted to help my poor daughter that was suffering with this awful rash. I urge people to BEWARE of this office, if you actually have any real problem or need, they will NOT ACCOMODATE YOU. They are all very sweet, I'm not complaining about the treatment, I'm complaining about the LACK of treatment. We will not ever go back there unless they change their policies.

Went in for simple issues and now got a bill that IMO should be covered by my HMO. $160.00 just for an office visit that the Dr spent 10 minutes with me tops. So you're telling me I cant even get 30 minutes @ $160.00! What a racket. This is exactly why there is a problem with health care in America. You have doctors that want to charge an arm and a leg just to get in the door.
No one even went over the costs with me so I see it as bait and switch. I went in for bumps on my neck, she gave me a cream and it wasnt working so I called and they gave me a shot. I'll be damned if they think I'm paying twice for this. Not to mention I saw quite a few elderly patients in the office. I'm sure they are getting ripped off as well and if their insurance isnt paying well, I'm sure I just picked up the slack. Meanwhile those doctors and office personnel are enjoying vaca in the Bahamas. Worst rip off of the year.

Myself and two of my children have been in to see Dr. Sun a few times over the last two years and have had a wonderful experience with her. She is wonderful with children and explains things very well. I can always call and ask a question or if I need a refill. We will definitely be staying with her and DMG!

I am in the medical field and have been appalled by the lack of a quality Dermatologists that are focused on clinical medicine vs. cosmetics in the Oxnard/Ventura/Camarillo area. I just saw Dr. Lau and can't say enough good things about his clinical capabilities and patient interactions. He is very well trained (Stanford). You will be hard pressed to find a more well trained nicer guy in our area. If I could give him more than 5 stars I would. Thank you Dr. Lau!

This was my first time getting lip fillers and i was very nervous! the specialist took her time calming my nerves but also did not push me to get the procedure done. she was very sweet and did not over-do anything. my lips look absolutely wonderful and it completely changed my confidence in my smile. i would (and have been) recommending this place to EVERYONE!

Izzy was fabulous. I had eye brows and lips permanently colored and I love the results. I would consider liner in the future with her. I also had KTP done for telangiectasia with a different tech. I was mostly happy with the results, although there is still a visible vein on the side of my nose that to me was just a vein that was missed in the treatment.
I also had (and still have) two areas of scarring from the procedure. When I called about these two issues remaining I was told I would have to pay again for the one missed vein, and that the scarring was not scarring but probably just hyperpigmentation. I don't know how they knew that via a phone call. When I argued that my face should be looked at regarding my concerns (and I should not have to pay for it), they agreed to give me 5 minutes before her schedule (a month later) for her to look at it.
I didn't bother going in. I don't feel my concern was taken seriously and I'm disappointed about that. I could have easily been a 5 star patient with one simple laser zap and an acknowledgment and possibly a recommendation regarding the scars. Instead, I'm left irritated every time I see it. All in all, I would highly recommend Izzy, but think carefully before doing KTP.

I love this office, the staff has always been friendly towards me and they seem pretty efficient. I never wait more then 5-10 minutes to be called in. Dr. Grace Sun is such a great pediatric dermatologist. My newborn was in the NICU for a week with a strange vesicular linear rash that no one could seem to figure out. All her viral and bacterial tests came back negative and all the doctors at the hospital where stumped.
We took her to a couple dermatologists and no one could figure out what she had. Finally our pediatrician was able to send Dr Sun a picture of our babies rash and she knew exactly what it was. I brought my baby in, they did a biopsy and it was confirmed that Dr Sun was right. She was very highly recommended by all the doctors in the NICU and also the dermatologists we saw before coming here.
She is so friendly and always looks like she is in a happy mood, which puts me in a happy mood every time I come. I'm happy to be bringing my daughter to a great doctor who has such a positive outlook even when the diagnosis is not the best.

I'm not one to Yelp or say things bad about people but Grace S. Sun, MD Is one of the worst dermatologist. Before you go and spend your money to see her think twice. Went in for rash on my face, she looks at it literally for a couple seconds and prescribes me a cream I use it for six months. I go back to see her again couple seconds says let give you a stronger cream I ask what is on my face? Oh sun rash stay out of the sun. Then why you giving me stronger cream. Wear a hat she says. Big waste of time.

I had an 810am appointment that I arrived at 8am for and waited for Paul A. Rehder, MD-Oxnard location until around 845am for. The front desk staff acted as if this was a normal occurrence in this office when I asked them if they were running behind at around 830am. One week later I arrived at 420pm for my second visit with Paul A. Rehder, MD-Camarillo location and as I pulled up to park I made eye contact with Paul A. Rehder, MD as he just looked at me and got into his vehicle.
My appointment was at 4pm and I know I was late but did not receive any kind of courtesy call to see if I was just running a little behind and to maybe tell me the doctor would leave. After my initial visit I guess I just had the wrong expectations. The front desk staff was rude and made no attempt to call the doctor back in. Why is it that Paul A. Rehder, MD thinks it is acceptable to be late by 35 minutes without apology and then leave 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment without any courtesy call?

Just found out Dr. Carson retired.he will truly be missed. After 20 plus years being well informed and cared for by this office called for reminders my family will be leaving.thought the doctors taking over the practice were going to run DMG with a good bedside manner and a thoughtfulness and the same integrity as the the previous had.sadly disappointment came to quickly. Doctor Thomas Carson thank you for all that you did for our family.

Dr. Carson and Brenda, the nurse, are great! Dr. Carson answers all my acne questions, and if he's not around to answer them, Brenda steps in. i didn't give 5 stars because three times ive scheduled for an appointment, and the three times i went came in, the girl at the reception desk told me i didnt have an appointment. and she looked at me like i was an idiot and gave me attitude about it. but luckily the nurse was there and she kindly accomodated me even though it was late in the day. they recently moved to another building and im excited to see the new office!
