I have been seeing an Ophthalmologist a half a dozen times a year since 2012, for medical issues & medications I take daily, that can affect my vision & eye health. I had been a patient at a prestigious well known eye group here in Camarillo for years, with 4-5 offices throughout Ventura County. When they stopped taking my insurance 1/1/22, I was referred to Dr Ragen at Ventura Eye Institute. Calling to schedule was easy & personal, unlike the "call center" of my previous eye clinic, where I couldn't ever connect to my direct office, & communication with my doctor was lacking.
Even my pharmacy would complain about their lack of response to refills. Our first visit to Ventura Eye Institute was for my adult daughter with high functioning autism, & she needed a variety of different eye tests/exams. Waiting to be seen was minimal, & their office was clean & comfortable. She was apprehensive, never having been to an eye specialist before.
The Staff explained what they needed her to do, & what they were doing, before they did it, without me having to ask them to. They spoke slowly and waited for her to respond or comply with what they'd asked. Their patience with her spoke volumes to their professionalism, as they encouraged her along the way, through each test they performed. When the doctor came in, he was personable and non-intimidating.
It was apparent right away that Dr Reagan and his staff were spot on with their knowledge & their vast array of high tech machines, for a multitude of eye exams. I had never seen or been offered more than half of these exam machines, at any of the 3 offices of my previous Eye Group. I feel so personally cared for & remembered when I visit Dr Ragen's office. Dr Ragen makes you feel acknowledged when he's with you, & he's very informative & reassuring, which I look for in a physician.
Even though his office offers an extensive variety of services & procedures, that my other one didn't, you'd never know how busy his practice is, based on the efficient way you're moved through the process of an appointment, or the calm demeanor of he & his staff. I can't say enough about my 3 experiences so far at Ventura Eye Institute! The 3 key things I will say is that one, I wish I'd found him 10 years ago. Two, he's become one of my favorite Doctors to visit. Lastly, I feel fortunate that he's located where I live in Camarillo, but I would drive from wherever I lived in the county to see Dr Ragen & his quality of expertise & great "bedside manner".
After being seen a few times now at Ventura Eye Institute, I'm confident & excited about the amazing quality of care I have to look forward to over the years here, and I feel very fortunate to have found him!

My first visit with Dr. Ragen at my wife's recommendation. Frankly I have not been impressed with any doctor in this field for many years. However, Dr. Ragen's caring and attentive approach is exceptional. He took the time to listen to my concerns and most of all, explained his findings in a manner that easy to follow and comprehend. Did not feel like a transaction as I do with many clinics and doctors these days. Really appreciate Dr. Ragen's kind and caring attitude and that also is reflected in his staff and how they treat you. Thank you Dr. Ragen and team.

I have been going to Ventura Eye for quite a few years. Dr Ragen and his staff are all fantastic. They are very friendly, very professional and extremely knowledgeable. Dr Ragen had performed cataract surgery on both my eyes several years. My vision has improved to the point I do not need prescription glasses. I highly recommend Dr Ragen, Ventura Eye Institute.
