Yes, I was one of those kids who always had her nose in a book and yes, I was a school library volunteer. How nerdy, huh? I shelved books, updated the card catalog and covered new books in shiny plastic before my classmates could get their grubby little hands on them. Do not go to a surgeon who willfully, knowingly and out of simple greed, lies to her patients about serious diseases scientifically shown to be linked to breast implants. Putting lives at risk. She, on film, blamed the internet for ten of thousands of womens lives lost and or ruined. Please explain this doctor; if breast implants have now been shown to cause cells to divide and become cancer, why is it so hard to believe they too can cause other problems to the immune system?
These toxic, carcinogenic devices can cause cancer, but not fatigue? Think about it doc! Refer to your training and education to inform, not your bank account! She will NOT TELL YOU THE TRUTH! And until she is able to do so, I wouldnt let her near you with a scalpel! Beware. Ask questions

There is a group on Facebook called Breast Implant Illness by Nicole that has members who encourage other members to harass doctors like Lisa in order to push their agenda. Breast implant illness may be a thing, but it is not so common that millions of women who have gotten breast implants are dying. Their behavior is starting to mimic anti-vacation groups that would harass and make death threats to those who chose to vaccinate their children or blame parents for their deaths.
I am disgusted that I would join such a group of women who do not educate but bully each other into thinking something as simple as gray hair was caused by implants or encouraging women to leave their spouses if they discourage them taking out their implants. I do not agree with this behavior and if a doctor doesn't agree with your symptoms or it doesn't feel like a good match simply walk away from their services. Do not blatantly call them a bad doctor because they don't meet your agenda that's how you get sued.

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Lisa Lynn Sowder and her staff! I had a terrific experience from consultation to surgery to follow-up appointments. I was treated with kindness and compassion and chose her office fairly quickly and confidently. My results are incredible and the care and precision to obtain the results I received can be rare but Dr. Sowder did an excellent job and I'm so happy with the entire experience! I would absolutely recommend Dr. Sowder every time!

I've had a wonderful experience with Dr. Sowder on two different occasions. The first was years ago when she was the plastic surgeon on call in the early morning of the day my son had been mauled by a dog. She not only did a beautiful job stitching up my son's injuries, she did everything in her power to bring him comfort and make his experience less stressful.
She was able to calm two very anxious parents with thoughtful words and by reassuring us along the way. She explained everything she was doing to both our son and us so that everyone in the room was comfortable. Fast forward and years later I made a very personal decision to explant my breast implants. I was delighted when I discovered that Dr. Sowder was considered one of the top surgeons in the area for explant surgery.
She was thoughtful and comprehensive during my initial appointment. She answered every question I had before I asked it and was totally willing and able to give me the exact experience and surgery I was requesting. Her staff was amazing, comforting and insightful on the day of my surgery. She and her anesthesiologist were willing to work with me to do the survey and recovery totally narcotic free.
It is now her standard! It's wonderful seeing a doctor choose to change her practice for the better of her community! I have nothing but love and respect for everything she has done for me!

This DR clearly ONLY cares about her bottom line. I also had Breast implant illness. After my Kind GOOD doctor removed my implants and surrounding capsules he discovered I had three bacterial infections in my capsule tissue. 90% of all women with breast implants end up with infections in their capsule tissue. I ran a fever on and off for 7 years. I explanted NOT with this doctor thank god!
With one who listened to me and believed me and I'm 100% improved. 7 years in BED. Many doctors, many blood tests. Explanted and I'm cured! This doctor is rude and uncaring. Implants do not work out for everyone. I would hate to think she doesn't even listen! I'm so lucky I found a GOOD doctor who heard me. I have my life back now. Stay away from this doctor for any procedure! Imagine if it doesn't go well?!? How horrible

Opinionated, arrogant. Does not consider what the patient knows to be truth, and has to ignore the needs of the patient, and criticize an ocean of women as to proper removal of not only toxic breast implants, but has stated removing them properly via En Bloc is not necessary, as SHE has never experienced mold from saline implants. Perhaps she lives in a bubble but the fact is there is ALOT of women's lives being destroyed by both saline and silicone implants (saline implants have silicone shell.so one and the same).
I would not recommend this surgeon to anyone, as she is disrespectful, calling us a "BII Crowd" like we have no intellect, and her knowledge is superior. Pfft. Breast Implant Illiness is real!

My experience with Dr. Sowder and her staff was absolutely wonderful. From first inquiry to follow ups I have received only top notch treatment. I really appreciate her forthrightness, which is backed up by decades of experience and education. I inquired about a second time breast reduction; she personally responded to my very first email inquiry, explaining the difficulty and possibilities. Evidently it's a very tricky procedure.
When we spoke over the phone I knew she was the one. I could not be happier with the results. Have a look at her website and blog and I'm certain you will be assured she is not only a masterful surgeon but also has excellent judgement and taste when it comes to the overall aesthetics of the outcome. Thank you Dr. Sowder, so very, very much!

I recently had a surgical procedure with Dr. Sowder. Overall the procedure went well, and I liked working with Dr. Sowder and the majority of her team. I'm giving three stars because one aspect of my experience was not great, and I want to make sure the same thing doesn't happen to another patient. My semi-negative experience happened during surgery discharge.
I woke up from surgery in a lot of pain and wasn't offered pain medication (even though I had been instructed to fill the pain med prescription in advance, so I could take a pill immediately after surgery). I was crying - which I now know is a somewhat normal reaction when coming off anesthesia post-surgery - and the nurse didn't ask about my pain level or even offer me a glass of water.
Within 10 minutes of waking up, I'd been moved to a wheelchair and was in the elevator being released. I was balling in the crowded elevator from a combination of pain and shock, and the situation felt vulnerable and uncomfortable. I truly believe having just another 10 or 20 minutes in recovery to get my bearings, fully awaken from anesthesia, take pain medication, etc. would have made a huge difference in my discharge experience.
I shared this with Dr. Sowder in my post-surgery checkup, and really appreciated her responsiveness. Just my two cents, but if you're thinking about working with her team, I recommend you check in about discharge expectations before surgery. Also want to share that I chose to work with Dr. Sowder in part because I thought her pricing was competitive. However, the total amount I was ultimately charged was about $800 more than the high-end of the price range quoted on her website due to added fees.
Make sure you get a complete picture of all expenses associated with surgery before putting down a deposit. I may have still gone with Dr. Sowder at the higher rate, but I probably would have shopped around a little more before committing to the deposit. Having said all of that, overall my procedure went well and I'm grateful. Sharing this to flag the one part of my experience I hope will be different for the next person.

I'm about 9 months out from having liposuction (belly, flanks, and neck) with Dr. Sowder. I interviewed several surgeons in the Seattle area, and unfortunately there still seems to be something of a suspicion of men as cosmetic surgery patients. Most surgeons' web sites don't mention men at all. Many sites are vaguely suggestive of ads for feminine hygiene products and feature photographs of creamy-skinned women loping through spring fields and bonding chummily over coffee. It's like a big "keep out" sign for men. So, Dr. Sowder's blog and office page were a real breath of fresh air.
The material is down to earth and informative, and she talks about men in a number of different contexts. In person, she's pretty much exactly who you'd expect her to be from reading her blog: friendly, pragmatic, and clear with her recommendations. A lot of folks do cosmetic procedures of one sort or another, but I wanted someone who 1) was board certified in plastic surgery, 2) had a background in academic medicine, 3) did face and neck procedures, and 4) seemed comfortable working on men.
Those criteria narrowed the field down to just 2 or 3 people in the Seattle metro area. (Actually, that's true even if you consider #1 and #2 alone - people enter this industry through a lot of different paths, and board certification is not as common as you might assume.) Of course, credentials and demeanor don't mean diddly-squat if you're not happy with the actual work.
Like other reviewers, I can only relate my own experience, and it's important to keep in mind that a variety of accessory factors affect the outcome. I think I was a particularly good candidate for the procedures I had, and I've been pretty good about exercising and eating well over the last couple of years, too. I'm hedging not because my results are equivocal but because they're actually absurdly good.
Each area looks better than I had imagined possible. Of course, it's subjective: if you saw me on the street, you'd probably think, "Yeah, he looks OK for a middle-aged man." But from the inside, the experience has been really gratifying and transformative. It's surreal to find yourself suddenly living in a much nicer body. Just, please, don't go into Dr. Sowder's office and say, "I'm here because this random guy on Yelp said you'd make me look better than I ever imagined possible!" Two minor points: 1) I don't have the impression that pricing varies too much among providers, at least for the procedures I had.
So don't be put off by Sowder's credentials. Her pricing seems quite competitive. 2) Sowder's office staff are excellent, and the office runs like a Swiss watch. All appointments were handled promptly, and the procedure itself was pretty much right on schedule. Again, this isn't necessarily a factor you'd put too much weight on a priori, but it's reflective of good management. And it does make the whole experience a lot smoother.

I have been a professional body piercer of 24 years. The idea that an inverted nipple can not be pierced quickly and efficiently without anesthetic is ridiculous. I do it on a very regular basis. The injection to numb the site alone would cause more discomfort than the Piercing procedure. Not to mention distorted tissue that very often leads. to inaccuracies.
As well as the extortion rate that is being advertised for the procedure. For that price they should be done with 18k gold and genuine stones not some cheap "surgical steel". Seek out an experienced professional piercer.

I had around 7 very small lipomas (benign/harmless fatty tumors) removed from my arms almost two years ago. I waited to write this review for a while because I wanted to make sure that the lipomas did not return in case everything was not taken out completely. And they have not returned:-) Several of the scars are significantly hyperpigmented, but with my darker skin color, I assume that is to be expected. The procedure itself was pain free, staff was great and cost was very reasonable by Seattle standards.

I went to Dr. Sowder with a spitting stitch problem from a breast lift/augmentation that I had done 5 years earlier with another doctor. She was the second surgeon I visited and made me feel very comfortable. She is amazing! Her price was very reasonable, the clinic/crew is great, surgery went very well and not only did she remove my non dissolvable stitches, but also made my breast look much better then before. She is a very caring doctor and checked up on me the day after surgery. I am very happy with the entire process, including the results and would highly recommend Dr. Sowder.

I had surgery with Lisa about 3 years ago. My implants were being removed. She commented on how skillful my prior surgeon had been and how you could not see any scars around the areola area where the implants were inserted. After my surgery and healing I noticed how badly of a job Lisa had done on both nipples they were scarred with cut lines on the pigmented area instead of the exact place the nipple meets the skin of the breast making it not very visible. These cut lines are very visible. I am disappointed. I wanted to write of my experience.

I recently had a Tummy Tuck and Lisa Sowder MD was my plastic surgeon. I knew I was in good hands because she completed a great lift on me a few years ago and I was (and still am ) very pleased with the results. Dr. Sowder is an amazing woman who brings both the skill and the empathy a patient needs to feel comfortable to undergo one or more procedures.
I am so glad she is my surgeon. Dr. Sowder took the time to explain the surgery, to tell me what to expect, to answer my questions and to be kind and encouraging. Do yourself a favor and go see Dr. Sowder! Greatful Pharmarep in Seattle:)

I had a complex surgery procedure done by Dr. Sowder. She was fabulous throughout. Initially she game me a personal, informative email reply. When I met her in the office (for a reasonable $100 consulting fee) she was thorough and perceptive. She did not over-sell any procedures. She told me honestly what I was and was not a good candidate for. She was also straightforward about the pain associated with the procedures and the recovery time.
My surgery went off without a problem in their high tech in-office surgery suite. My anesthesiologist seemed highly competent. My post-operative visits were also a breeze with minimal waiting and no complications. Her office staff is efficient and friendly. It was unlikely that my insurance would pay for part of my procedure, but the staff was more than willing to assist me with generating the appropriate documentation.
She also requires that her patients carry a reasonably priced insurance policy in case of post-operative complications requiring expensive medical care. I thankfully did not require this (and I doubt many, if any, of her patients do) but it was reassuring to know that I had it if needed.
