I'm a 4th year resident in a fairly high-demand specialty nationwide. I foolishly provided one of the PracticeMatch recruiters who contacted me with my email address, and at some point must have put down my cell phone number on a sign-in sheet at one of the career fairs they sponsored. In the 4 months since signing up I have received no fewer than 2,100 emails from recruiters and average 2-3 calls a day from unknown numbers from all corners of the country wanting to "tell [me] more about opportunities in their area". Telling the recruiters not to call you on that number just means they'll call you from a different random number.
It never ends. I called PracticeMatch and demanded they remove my phone number from the information they were giving recruiters, which they agreed to do - fat lot of good that did me, as the cat is out of the bag at this point and I'm going to change the cell phone number I've had since 2005 at the end of this year because of this. DO NOT give these people ANY means of contacting you that you don't want to be deluged with unwanted calls and emails.

Rude people. Actually paged me. Dont know where they got my pager, I assume stolen or mined somewhere. Made it sound like they worked for my program at first then they barely knew about me so I told them not to contact me again. Paged me again weeks later. They plan to sell your info. Standard cold calling profiteers. I will make it a point to avoid any jobs offered by these annoying telemarketers.
