Developments in materials and designs of contact lenses are constantly changing as newer technology improves on previous contact lenses. Recent developments include toric (astigmatism-correcting) lenses which are replaced on a daily basis and the development of lenses which allow enough oxygen to pass through the lens that they can be worn on an overnight basis.
In our continued efforts to bring the most advanced technology available to our patients, The Draisin Vision Group is proud to announce the inclusion of the Optomap Retinal Exam as an integral part of your eye exam. Many eye problems can develop without warning and progress with no symptoms. Early on, you might not even notice any changes in your vision.

After years of going to various locations that move people through their system like cattle, it was refreshing to go somewhere that actually understands customer service. We have been coming for 3 years and the selection of frames combined with the customer service makes for an awesome experience plus the price is in line with what I was paying at the quick serve optical shops.

I had several eye appointments over the past 6 months, and most of my appointments ran late by at least 30 minutes. I would have switched eye doctors but I was required to pay in full for my services at my first appointment. My eye doctor was extremely rude and was not honest with me on more than one occasion and his response to my dissatisfaction was that I didn't have to keep coming to him and could find someone else. However he would not give me a full refund if I stopped going to him. I do not recommend this practice.

I've been a patient for a couple of years. Showed up early for my appointment, waited 30 minutes past my appointment time, still hadn't seen anyone to start my exam. Very disappointed! I feel that it was disrespectful of my time by arriving early and still waited 30 minutes. Poor planning on their part!

I went to Draisin for an annual eye appointment. Just needed a check up and an updated contact prescription. The initial visit was ok. It took over two hours and I had technicians, interns coming in and doing a comprehensive check on me. I then had to make a follow up appointment to have a contact fitting. I scheduled it for 5:30. I had to go after work with my two young children.
We got there at 5:24. They didn't have us go back till 6:00. Between 6:00-6:47, I had a technician see me, an intern see me, and finally the Dr. The technician and intern took a combined total of 14 minutes to talk to me and check my eyes. The Dr. spent about three minutes with me. All other time was waiting. I expressed my frustrations about waiting and I only got, "I'm sorry, today was hectic".
Just repeats of that. I am a professional as well, and truly felt my time was not valued. The initial technician took four minutes to review my paper work, the doctor took roughly three minutes to check my contacts which is a combined time of 7 minutes. Seven minutes to complete my contact exam. I therefore waited with two young children for one hour and 10 minutes. I left with a prescription that I could have gotten anywhere else. If you value your time, do not go to Draisin Vision.

We are visiting the Charleston area on vacation from Chicago. My daughter lost her glasses in the ocean, the proverbial needle in the world's largest haystack. We were able to get an emergency pair of contacts at no charge until we could get back to Chicago. Everyone I talked to was extremely helpful and professional; thank you to the entire staff at Draisin. Tim

The vision therapy department at Draisin is fantastic! My wife has worked directly with both Jill and Emily and they have both done a wonderful job. They are kind and caring and very, very competent. Under their care my wife has progressed rapidly and beyond where we ever had hoped. I must also mention the two doctors, Dr. Purvis and Dr. DeWitt, who have tested my wife and helped me by advising me on the extracurricular activities that will help her, and Dawn, another therapist, has always been kind and willing to stand in at a moments notice.

They have been so good to our family! Their eye exams are very thorough. They care not only about your vision, but your overall eye-health. Their Vision Therapy program was a blessing in my husband's life! Dr. Draisin and Dr. (Smith)Zolman have taken good care of our family as it has grown over the years! From Infant-See exams to Vision Therapy and everything in between!

I've been going here for years. Heard good good things about them. The facilities is close and easy to get to. Love that they have super early appointments so I can go before I have to get to work. I've gotten contacts, glasses and when I had an eye infection I came here weekly to make sure that my eyes were getting better. Dr Purviss really took the time to make sure that she gave my eyes the care that was needed.

My husband and I have been going to see Dr. Zolman-Smith for several years now, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. We have never had to wait more than 10 minutes past our appointment time to be seen, and the technicians and other staff are all very friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have. Dr. Zolman-Smith is a great doctor, and is always letting me know of any rebates that come with my contact lenses.
The glasses shop staff are also fantastic. They make sure that my husband knows all of the perks our insurance can provide us with, and make sure to show us plenty of options in different price ranges. I have never had a complaint with this office, and I don't foresee any in the future.

After three trips to Draisin Vision, I finally have the correct prescription. Dealing with Dr. Lombardi was the most unpleasant experiences in customer service, and I cannot warn potential patients enough to look elsewhere for eye care. My first appointment took nearly two hours, and when I asked them to adjust the prescription because it was way too strong, they made me come in for another hour-and-a-half exam, yet they still didn't get it correct. Please, if you value your money and your time, don't experience the frustration I did at Draisin Vision.

Have been going to Draisin for years, starting in high school when my parents brought me and am still a happy customer about 6 years later. My appointments have always gone smoothly and I have been in and out without much of a wait. The doctors and technicians have always been very personable and great to talk to. The selection of eyeglasses available is wonderful and the sales representative helped me pick out a cute pair that flattered my face. Anytime I've had a problem with my glasses (scratched lens, need tightening) they have been super helpful and quickly fix the problem. Definitely recommend :)

My family switched eye doctors from the Mount Pleasant area to West Ashley and decided to go with Draisin based on our insurance and location. I woke up with familiar symptoms of an eye infection, called the Draisin office in the morning and was able to get an appointment that day at 6:00 PM. I arrived at 5:55 PM and at 6:35 PM I was finally escorted to the back to be seen by the doctor.
Three people did tests and looked at my eyes, no one said anything about what they saw or what was going on. Much to my surprise, the doctor said that I did not have an eye infection, it was allergies. I've had allergies all my life and been in Charleston long enough to know that my allergies do not do this, but being that I'm not a doctor, I trusted them to know best and went with the recommended over the counter eye drops for allergies.
Two days later, my symptoms worsened. I called back and explained that my eyes were not better and that the same symptoms I had on Tuesday were still there and worsened. Both the receptionist and the doctor I spoke to on the phone stated I had to make another appointment before they could prescribe medication for my eye infection. Given that I knew I had an eye infection when I made my initial appointment, it's frustrating that I either have to take time off of work or away from my family to sit in a waiting room for a half hour past my appointment time and pay another copay, just so they can correctly diagnose me.
A couple days later, I went to another doctor who confirmed my eye infection and prescribed the proper antibiotic eye drops. While the staff at Draisin is friendly, I do not trust them or their treatment of their patients.

Very disappointed by Draisin's communicated policy to see patients ( no matter what time they arrive) in the order of the appointment time. my nephew and I waited 50 minutes to see a doctor for a simple eye exam. There was no apology extended for the wait, only that the five patients seen before us were "scheduled" earlier.

They have excellent customer support. You wouldn't think you need customer support for eye care until you've got a good one! There's a gentleman named Steve who helps you with everything you need for your eye care. I can't count how many times I've taken my glasses to be repaired there. They always do it with a smile and seeming delight.
On another instance, I ordered my first expensive pair of glasses in my life. When the order came in, by happenstance, it was also Steve who was there. The order came in with the wrong kind of lenses. I was ready to accept the glasses and go on with my life, but Steve insisted on rectifying the matter. He got the order right, and shipped the glasses to me. For their loyalty to me, a simple customer there, I will be loyal to them. Very well recommended for their care.

Best optometrist visit I have ever had. Dr Draisin took the time to ensure my prescription was going to work for me. Made several good suggestions on the type of lens I should get (non-glare for night driving). Staff was friendly and took care of me from start to finish. Looked at frames with one of their experts who made some great recommendations based on my face shape and preferences.

I was in the place somewhere around 20 minutes. Not one person asked if I needed help. This was a problem because every pair of glasses in the place is locked up in some sort of case, untouchable except with the help of the staff. It's very pretty and well-lit, but the 50 billion halogen spotlights make the place so hot I don't know how anyone can stand to work there.
I stopped someone after waiting for, like I said, at least 20 minutes, and asked about a specific pair of Ray-Ban eyeglasses for which I was desperately searching. She said that they would be special order (which I was ready & willing to do) and showed more interest in running away than making that order happen or even getting someone else to help me.
The office at Angel Oak Eye Center bent over backwards to help me. Give them the business instead! (Even Dr. Sun & the Wal-Mart vision center at the Folly Road Wal-Mart were better. Dr Sun is great & despite Walmart''s lack of selection, their staff is very friendly & helpful.)

The first time I went to Draisin Vision a couple of years ago was fine. Got my glasses within a week. I went January 4 to get my eyes examined and it's now February 4 and I've received nothing but promises that my glasses will be ready. Finally had to cancel and now waiting on a refund after repeatedly getting nowhere. I've never had to wait over a month for glasses and have to constantly call regarding the delays and be told it's coming. Really disappointed.

This is the BEST eye care I have ever received! The facilities are fabulous; all of the equipment appears to be new or cutting-edge, with advanced technologies. The care and service is incredible. Originally, I had one complaint: The office charges a substantial fee (around $100) for a "contact fitting"--which was not covered by my insurance. At first, I was quite upset about this and figured it was a sneaky way for them to upcharge me because I was buying contacts--but no!
This "fitting" was genuine and worth the money! Basically, they asked me a detailed list of questions about my current contacts. I had been wearing the same brand for around 10 or 15 years.with no thought of changing. But I did have a chronic problem with my contacts--they would dry out after a full day of wear and become so uncomfortable that I had to take them out.
I also had trouble seeing when they became dry. I could not drive at night or wear them out to a late performance. I would have to carry along my glasses and remove my contacts if I wanted to see after 10pm. The eye doctor listened to my complaints and recommended another pair of contacts. He gave me a free trial pair and I returned in a week. They were no better.
Then I sat in the office and tried on at least three more pairs until I found a pair the felt comfortable. They gave me another trial pair and I wore them for a week. WOW. The new pair was GREAT. My old problems were solved. And the new contacts were about the same price as my old ones--maybe cheaper. The great thing was that I felt the doctor really wanted me to be happy with my contacts.
He was more patient than I was. (I felt bad for trying on so many pairs, but he encouraged it.) He gave me the feeling that he would bring out as many different pairs as they had, until I found the right pair for me. All of the extra visits and attention were covered in the one contact fitting fee. But I really did get extra wonderful service--and great new contacts--and, even though I am on a tight budget, I would say it was worth the money.
I have been thrilled with my new contacts! Truly, I love this place. I'm so glad I found it. I look forward to appointments. The doctors and staff will take great care of you! You can be confident that you are really receiving the best care. If you want to see more reviews, check out their Facebook page.

A complete ripoff. The staff is very friendly and the office is nice however be prepared for charges they won't talk about up front. My insurance money that I am allotted each year for contacts was stolen by them through unfair and unreasonable charges. I had enough money left for 1 box instead of 4 at any other honest optometrist office.

I love this place - they have the most up to date technology and their customer service is fantastic. Dr. Draisin is a superstar! They have great designer glasses and seem to really care about helping children in the community because of their focus on their learning center. I am most impressed with the technology - they are also always on top of when I should come in - always friendly!
