Grand Valley Medical Specialists began serving patients in the Grand Rapids area in the mid 1930's. Since then, we've grown to include 15 physicians and 4 nurse practitioners in two locations. We are proud to offer our services to you, and we hope we can answer any questions you may have regarding our doctors, our offices and labs, or insurance and billing questions. At Grand Valley Medical Specialists our goal is to provide our patients with the best experience possible when interacting with our practice.
Services
We prefer not to send bills because the cost of paperwork and postage can affect the fees we charge. You may receive money from the insurance companies for non-assignment charges and therefore, we request your payment at the time of service. We accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express for payments.
Grand Valley Medical Specialists has two laboratories which can process most testing ordered by our physicians. Some insurance companies have contracts with independent laboratories and do not, therefore, pay for testing done in our office lab. Please check with your carrier before having laboratory work done in our office.

Protect yourself and find better care, it's out there! The administrative staff runs the show here, not the providers; they take active steps to be unpleasant and are becoming well-known for their abusive attitude towards the most vulnerable of elderly patients. Several great doctors retired in the last couple of years, changing everything about GVMS.
This is no longer an excellent, caring place for people of all ages. They have instead moved to an insurance-driven, profit-prioritized model and are actively driving away patients who require more than the BCBS defined minimum standard of attention and care. If you are already healthy, and just need a quick blood test, this is your place! But if you need a long-term care relationship with providers who know your name, go somewhere else.

You know I was very excited to get a new dr after my previous experience with a women dr who lied on me I've seen Dr Vollmar for about a year for back pain and asthma but needless to say I was disappointed when I found out he had released me from his practice due to an unpaid bill now mine you I'm new patient I asked during appointment and after appointment if I owed any co pays or bills at front desk and they would say no nobody told me as a new patient that I would be billed and how to pay usually they provide a portal or info on what to do but got no help so now I don't have a doctor Dr Vollmar just said let her go like I was another person on his list he can dump like trash and he did now his care was okay he was very intuitive to help me with my back issues he was young so I was worry that he wouldn't be a good listener but he was this is not about the care but the ethical issues I have with communication with patients on how to follow on any billing info or guidance cause I received none from this office

On November 19, 2014 I had a colonoscopy performed by Dr. Madura. I was not looking forward to this procedure because of 2 previous colonoscopy's that didn't go well, performed by different doctors, and was quite anxious about this procedure. About a month before my procedure I consulted with Dr. Madura and told him of my past experiences. Dr. Madura was very attentive and understanding as I told him of my concerns and he took his time answering questions that concerned me.
I was very much at ease with Dr. Madura's calming demeanor as he talked with me before the procedure. All went well during and after the procedure and I am thankful for him helping me through this time.
