LaTouche Pediatrics, LLC is a private provider of pediatric and adolescent medicine that was established with the aim of providing excellent health care in a warm and professional setting. To be a benchmark pediatric group practice, the preferred pediatric practice in our region, and to be leaders in pediatric health care and education for Alaska.
Telehealth and Telemedicine offer the ability to see your medical provider for health-related services and information through the means of electronic telecommunication technologies like zoom, and other video sharing opportunities. Telehealth allows us to provide health care services remotely throughout the state of Alaska. This means we can provide guidance and deliver medical care more efficiently to those who are outside of our immediate office locations.
To establish care with us, simply call our office to set up an appointment. We'll ask for you and your child's demographic information and ask who you would like to be your child's primary provider. We make it a priority to schedule your child with their Primary Care Provider or someone on their team.

We get in same day every time we have called for something other than a yearly check up, those we schedule several months out. Everyone we have seen has been very good at setting the kids at ease and getting them to cooperate. Three locations and extended and Saturday hours work better with my schedule than the places that close at 4 o 5.

I'm usually real picky about my service especially when It's for my child. They are always polite when I check in and out for my kiddo & McArthur is the most amazing pediatrician; meets all my concerns. They can approve on who answers the phones though, you can tell by their voice and how rushy they are that they don't love their job. But overall, I do really love this place.

Dr. Tappel is the best pediatrician we have ever had. He is extremely knowledgeable, cares about children, and takes time to discuss the issues with you. I trust him with my son's care. The staff is always friendly. I read one review about the office being cramped with no windows, but we have been going there for over four years and have not had that experience at all.
On the contrary, the exam rooms in the hospital office have large picture windows with beautiful views of the mountains (if that matters to you when choosing a doctor, which it likely should not). I highly recommend this practice.

Dr. Adrian Furman was very helpful and took the time to call us back at home and give us resources after we had concerns about our infant's breastfeeding strike. He is a caring physician. Also Katie Blacker, NP has been very helpful and encouraging. We appreciated the commerical-grade breast pump rental service as well.

Dr. Fahl was great. The lady who checked me out was extremely rude. Scoffed and looked me up and down when I didn't see her. Horrible work ethic. Not sure if I will be returning again. Editing this review because I am still shook up from the incident I experienced yesterday. After I left my room the nurse told me to head up to the front. I'm thinking "front desk" as anyone else would.
That's when I head for the front desk and a lady says "Room 4?" I didn't know she was speaking to me, thought she was talking to the nurse who was following out behind me. And I did not get told what number room I was in. She just expected me to know. After I walked out towards the front desk. That's when she scoffed at me and continued to use a rude tone of voice mixed with an array of horrible looks towards me.
I am 18 years old and have been going to LaTouche since I can't even remember. Thank goodness I never have to return. I am now, honestly, worried about how she'll treat the children that come in there. So if you're a parent, please be careful. Don't work in healthcare if you don't know how to have plain respect towards people. Doesn't matter if I was a child either. I just so happen to be an adult that will NOT tolerate people like her. Have a blessed day. Thank You.

This smaller location of LaTouche Pediatrics is located on the first floor in a business building on Huffman Road across from McDonalds. We have had some appointments at the Providence Hospital location and we prefer Huffman by far. Every time we've come, we've been the only patients there. The place is large enough, quiet, and sterile. Check-in is quick and easy. We're always taken to a room right away. We've never had to wait long to see a doctor here.
I always choose to see whichever doctor is available and we're always taken care of. It always feels like we are in and out, which is what I prefer. I require mask exemptions, various referrals, referral amendments, and referral updates for my son with non-verbal autism. I love that the doctors here just get it, and do whatever they can to assist me and get things faxed out ASAP.
All staff encountered have been kind and professional. The only negative is the lack of toys or entertainment for the kids, as a covid precaution I assume. As mentioned previously, you are taken to a room immediately after checking-in, so its not a big deal, at least for my family.

Deceitful and money hungry practice! Took my daughter for a fever and they checked my daughter's ear but they said they couldn't see inside one of her ears so they tried to take out her earwax (unsuccessful). They didn't inform me that I would be charged $200 out of pocket and didn't consult with me first before doing the procedure.
They didn't even take out the earwax and they still charged me. I could have done it myself if I had known they will charge me $200 for a very simple procedure. They didn't inform me that it will not be covered by insurance and they still went ahead and did it. Called them about the charge and the person I talked to was rude and condescending. Told me to check their website for fees and charges and that I should have checked the fees before taking my daughter in.
How could I know what procedures they will do that day beforehand?! They will do procedures without your consent and will give you hefty bill afterwards. I will NEVER take my child in any of the LaTouche locations again! They should be more caring towards their customer and patients but they only care about the $$. Shame on you LaTouche!

The reason this review is 5 stars is because I chose to see Dr. Heppler, who was amazing. I would recommend him to anybody and everybody. However, my first experience with LaTouche Pediatrics was less than favorable. I was introduced to Dr. Jones and quickly realized she would not be of any help to me unless I agreed with her terms. My baby was born healthy, yet she disregarded the overall health of my little girl and began fear mongering me.
Upon arrival, Dr. Jones proceeded tell me that my child would have brain bleeding if I did not give her the Vitamin K injection. She made it seem like I was risking her life. She scared me so bad that I agreed to the oral dose. She prescribed it while saying "I don't normally do this.". Fast forward, I got a call from the pharmacist urging me NOT to pick up my prescription.
The doctor had prescribed the INJECTION to be taken orally. My baby would have died had I given her the prescription. I am writing this review so that this incident does not go unnoticed. You cannot fill a new parent with fear and then prescribe them something that would KILL HER BABY. Dr. Jones- The next time you decide to look down on others or fear monger others.remember this review. Your actions do not go unnoticed or without repercussion.

If you value your time go somewhere else. Running 45-60 minutes late for appointments is the norm here. On more than one occasion we've been abandoned and seemingly forgotten in an exam room until we went out and asked where someone was. Today we called and confirmed an appointment in the morning to be told when we arrived that the appointment did not exist and that we'd have to come back tomorrow.
Several of the medical staff are good but the administration/scheduling side is a joke. If you're going to pay $200 for a 10-15 minute exam it should be somewhat close to your scheduled time.

I notice a number of negative reviews about LaTouche Pediatrics. I have not had any issues. in all the appointments I have had. There was one person that posted a negative review about Dr. Magnuson stated that she is just a rude lady with no understanding especially towards kids with special care. I disagree with this totally> my grandson is seen by her and actually is the one doctor he loves going to. She has been very proactive in his treatment.

Very quick and professional, I'd recommend this place to any new family or any family looking for a new pediatrician. The atmosphere could use more toys in the waiting room but they are usually so prompt with their appointments I doubt they've had much of a problem. All the nurses and doctors are very kind and friendly never to hold back a smile. My kids have been here for normal check ups and for their shots and still not frightened when we pull up lol and that speaks for itself :
