I'm sure the doctors are great here but the staff is atrocious. I called for months trying to see Dr. Lucy McBride. Her assistant Miriam never answers the phone. I literally called over two dozen times over two weeks trying to reach her. When I finally got through a few months ago she said "Dr. McBride isn't taking patients now.try back in a few months".
Three months later I tried again and finally got through after many, many attempts. Her assistant literally told me the same thing."try back after the first of the year". I need a doctor and staff that is more responsive than this and I'm sure others do too.

Matthew Parker is legitimately the most awful, unprofessional, inappropriate physician I have ever dealt with. A family member on mine went in for a visit and he was extremely rude, condescending, and downright creepy. I highly recommend you stay away from this man that calls himself a doctor. Just AWFUL.

I called the doctor's office today requesting an office visit because I had been severely under the weather for 6 days. Dr. Hansen's receptionist (with NO medical credentials) told me that my symptoms were probably just a flu, and that I should get better in a couple days-- therefore I didn't need to see Dr. Hansen. EVEN MORE-- she told me that ONLY if I had a temperature over 101 OR had trouble breathing that I should see Dr. Hansen. Then she turned me away. I left the practice immediately. They're awful.

I found Foxhall Internists on the World Bank's recommended travel clinics. I called about 7 or 8 clinics, and Foxhall had the most competitive rates. The location was also very convenient for me. I was able to schedule an appointment within a few days. Parking: there's a paid parking, but there is also a lot of street parking. If you go there between school hours, it might be a little difficult to find really close street parking because some areas are limited to 15 minute parking during school hours. Appointment: They seemed very organized and on schedule.or I might have just scheduled my appointment when the office was slow.
The receptionist was really nice and a pro at multi-tasking. I was impressed. The doctor I met with was really nice and friendly. They had prepared a folder with information for the country I was going to, and she walked me through all of the vaccines, pills, etc. out there and answered all of my questions.even twice, since I'm terrible at medical terminology.
She didn't push any vaccines or pills on me, and she was very open with the pricing and her experience with trying to get my insurance to cover some of the shots. I highly recommend this place to others, and I'd go back.after 10 years when these vaccines start to wear off! =

I went here for a yellow fever vaccine, having received my other vaccines through my primary care clinic. Even though I had already been through the travel clinic shpiel with the folks at my normal office, the Foxhall Internists nurse took her time with me and went through my itinerary to make sure I was ready to go. That was a good thing, because they did a much more thorough job going through the geography of the various countries I was about to visit, and prepping me on a few of their favorite non-prescription items.
And then I got a fluorescent yellow band-aid with my shot, which was nice as well. They were also relatively punctual for a doctor's office--they rescued me from the waiting room only fifteen minutes after my scheduled start time. I can't say much about price, since I didn't really shop around by price, but I think the consult was around $40 and the vaccine around $120.

I made an appointment for immunizations/inoculations but ended up canceling. Foxhall was by far the friendliest group of people I spoke with on the phone regarding travel shots. I ended up canceling because I was able to find a location that would take my insurance for the immunizations (this is why they get 4 stars instead of 5). I don't understand why doctors practices don't take any insurance for the shots when they take it for their main practice (even GW Hospital doesn't take insurance for travel or other immunization shots). FYI for those looking for travel inoculations: Consultation Fee: $40 (injection) typhoid: $75 Tdap (tetanus): $75 Yellow Fever: $125 No prescription fee for them to fill out a script for an anti-malaria (yes, there are some clinics out there that charge a prescrip-fee!)
