Services
The practice has been serving Gainesville and surrounding areas since 1950, and Dr. Benton has been in practice since 1988. Dr. Benton took over the practice started by Marvin Kokomoor, MD, who practiced in Gainesville for 40 years. Dr. Kokomoor retired in 1990. The Benton Pediatrics Mission Statement is: "To serve our patients in a way that is pleasing to the Lord."
To make sure there are no delays in care during your first visit experience, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to ensure your registration is complete before meeting with your new provider. In an effort to respect the time of all of patients, our staff strives to stay on schedule so that other patients do not have to wait.
Note: You should always check with your Privia Medical Group provider to verify plan and product coverage as this is not an exhaustive list, and plans change frequently. We encourage patients to keep a credit card on file to make the checkout process easier, faster, and more efficient. You will no longer receive statements from us, but you will continue to receive your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance carrier once your claim has been processed, detailing the charges and payments made on your behalf.

We love Dr. Powers and the staff at Benton Pediatrics! I recently had to take my son in for a strep test, and Mrs. Justice took care of my boy just fine. Gave the test, issued the antibiotics script to our pharmacy, and we were on our way home. Quick and simple process. Even when the front desk clerk asked for our new insurance card (that I didn't have in my possession) she politely gave me a slip to email a picture of the card at my convenience. Very patient oriented and always been treated with respect.

The front office staff is not friendly or accurate on the phone. My daughters daily medication was due for a refill. The pharmacy notified the office staff several times asking for the doctors authorization to refill. Friday I called the office to make sure they had contacted the pharmacy. She assured me they did but her tone sounded as though she was annoyed at me for asking.
When I went to the pharmacy to pick it up they said they were still waiting for authorization from the doctor. Now it's the weekend, doctors closed. My daughter is not suppose to miss a dose so the pharmacist gave us an emergency supply. The doctors at Benton Pediatrics are wonderful but because of the front office staff, I'm going to search for a kinder and more caring place to go.

Dr. Benton was my pediatrician when I was a kid and when my wife and I had our son we used his practice. He is 3 now and they always go above and beyond to take care of our family. We appreciate them and the staff for all they do. Dr powers is AWESOME as well he has been the doctor we've seen pretty regular here last couple trips and he is very knowledgeable and helpful and always highly recommended as well! Thanks for everything.

Our nieces and nephews have been going to Benton Pediatrics for almost 8 years now. My wife and I have had to bring them in personally, on multiple occasions. On all occasions, we were impressed. The wait time is never unreasonable. The staff from the front desk, to the providers and nurses are very friendly and professional. Our nieces and nephews are never upset when they have to see Dr. Benton, Dr. Powers or Beth, the Nurse Practitioner. They all are wonderful with kids and it's evident they love what they do. We highly recommend this pediatric office to all friends and family!

Dr. Benton and his office manager say they have been in business a long time. I say it's probably been TOO long. The staff seems unhappy and grumpy all the time, no one ever smiles, the office manager Rick is detached and pompous, and the practice stands proudly behind its policies that put money above the well-being of their patients. Our Story: We switched to the practice and visited Dr Benton several times for normal wellness visits for both children before our first major incident.
One night my infant got a fever and was completely miserable all night, and didn't seem to be responding to Tylenol. I called first thing in the morning to see if the Dr. can fit her in, however due to an erroneous Primary Care Physician setting on our insurance, we were DENIED an appointment! Now I understand there are rules for these sorts of things, with good reason, but it's not like we were strangers off the street.
We were told the rule was in place to protect the practice financially, since they had no idea if they could get payment from insurance in this case (my insurance company confirmed over the phone it wouldn't be a problem, but no one in the office was willing to speak with them). I offered to pay for the ENTIRE visit, UP FRONT, so my infant could see her doctor, but they still refused (stating some insurance rule that was "out of their hands").
The office staff, but particularly the office manager, were very surprisingly unhelpful and apparently unconcerned by the fact that during the entire conversation my infant was miserable. I later met with both Rick and Dr. Benton to provide some honest and constructive feedback, but I was disappointed when they spent the time defiantly (but courteously) defending every point I brought up.
We have since switched back to a practice that behaves as if they care about children, are understanding of the inevitable insurance glitches, and appears generally happy and pleasant at every visit.

I love this practice! I wish our whole family could go there and not just the kids. My son is almost 12 and my daughter is 9 and I've taken them both to see Dr. Benton since they were newborns. The office staff are all super nice and helpful. Dr. Benton makes the kids laugh, is very personable, and takes all the time we need for our questions. They have same day sick visits, even on Saturdays, which we have used many, many times over the years. Highly recommend.
