I have been a patient of Dr Cowart for years. She is one of the best doctors i have ever visited. She has a caring attitude, she listens to your problems and concerns, she explores all options, and she explains what she is doing and why. The staff has always been courteous and efficient. I never take the time to write reviews, but when I read some of Dr. Cowart's bad reviews, I felt compelled to add my opinion.

Jeff Garrard was a mediocre doctor. He listened to problems but just liked to prescribe medications to masks problems rather than fix them, or send you off to another specialist. The worst is the office staff, specifically the office manager Sharron who is an insidious and flippant person. I was removed from their patient list because Sharron lied on my file saying I asked to leave.
This was retaliation because my wife's doctor, Karen Allen, may have treated my wife unethically in her practices and when we confronted the office, Sharron opted to ignore the violation and subsequently removed both of us from the practice.

We love Dr Garrard and the staff here! 2 of my 3 children have some special needs and he has been such a blessing as a physician foe them- we've tried several pediatric practices in town and he is the first doctor we've found who actually listens and is proactive rather than saying we should wait and see regarding concerns. Plus, he's great with our kids. They love him and his nurse!

I absolutely Love this practice. I have been a patient of Dr. Cowart for 11yrs. She has been the best physician and very kind. She has seen me through many health concerns and I trust her implicitly. The nurses are very nice and helpful. My husband is a patient of Dr. Garrard and really likes him. If you can get into this busy practice as a new patient, I highly recommend them.

No stars! I logged into my BCBS online account and went through their "Doctor Finder" page and located two doctors, Karen Allen and Darla Cowart. Both, according to BCBS, participate in the "Primary Care Select Physician" network. I called them and told them that we wanted a new primary care select physician, and was told that they didn't participate in that program.
I told them that according to BCBS, that they DID! When they asked me for my insurance policy, I gave them my BCBS policy and they told me they do not accept it. This is an unsubsidized, individual plan. The lady wasn't very polite about it, so I asked to speak to someone else who understands what they've told BCBS that they cover, and was put on the phone with a VERY RUDE woman.
I guess person #2 handles the "problem calls". She told me, "it's the DOCTOR's practice, not the insurance company's", and of course, I understand. I asked her if she could explain why BCBS thinks they cover the "Primary Care Select Physician" network and she told me again. this time sounding like teeth were clinched. "it's the DOCTOR's practice, not the insurance company's".
Something seems wrong here, and that is beyond the fact that neither of these people, slightly rude person #1 or very rude person #2, could explain the discrepancy between what they've told me and what they've told BCBS, So I called BCBS to inform them that the error may be theirs, if these two rude ladies are correct, or just deciding on their own what is right and what isn't. No longer interested. Thank GOD there is a choice I can make here.

I have been a patient of Dr. Cost for many, many years and I have never had a negative experience. I have never had to wait, he is always on time and takes as much time as I need to talk with me (except maybe during flu season when it gets crazy in there). I hope I never have to change doctors. As for the front of the house people, I've had no issues with them either.

I've been a patient of Dr. Cowart for a little more than a year. I can't say anything negative about multiple experiences I've had so far. The wait times have been short, scheduling an appointment has never required waiting more than a few hours, and the treatment has always been accurate. I'm not sure there's anything more I could ask of a practice.

I just called to in inquire about how soon I could get in to see a doctor for a sports injury I'm currently dealing with. The person I spoke to on the phone was incredibly rude and unnecessarily difficult. She wasn't helpful at all. I finally was able to ask her "So you don't have any appointments available for several months?" She said, "Yes." I answered "Thank you.
That's what I needed to know." She laughed at me and hung up. I see that rude office staff is a common theme in these reviews, and I can only assume the establishment as a whole doesn't care that they are getting a reputation for being uncaring and rude as long as they're making money.

I contacted them to set up an appointment as a new patient based on a referral from a friend. Humana, my insurance, listed Dr. Garrard as accepting new patients. When I called the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude and said that he wasn't accepting new patients and 'it doesn't matter what Humana says'. I mentioned that someone should probably let Humana know they were no longer accepting new patients to which she said we'll take your comments into consideration. Lol.
She went on to say that only if I met certain demographic criteria could I see another doctor but that would be months out. No thanks! Don't want to deal with that office. So prevalent in the medical field.

I'm in total shock with how I was treated by Dr. Cowart. My son was basically discriminated against for something I believe he shouldn't be. When I asked her if she had done her research or cared to explain to me more in depth she dismissed me. Doctors should be educated thoroughly on all procedures they perform. Especially on the side effects and on current information.
All I wanted was somewhere to take my family when we have a nasty cold or some kind of severe illness. We don't go to the doctor very often in my family so maybe we wouldn't make her enough money. We will never be going back to this place and I will definitely be telling everyone I know. People should be able to have a voice in their own healthcare.
I believe we have to make responsible, educated choices in life and I would not trust this doctor to look over my family. I trust science, but I have very little trust for money hungry people and corporations.

I've been going here for quite a few years. Office staff is always polite and very helpful. Dr. Allen has always been a good listener and seems to always be on top of the latest medical news. I like the way she seems pretty aggressive with her treatment if there is the slightest possibility of something progressing. She takes care of the problem early before it gets full blown.
The wait times for me have never been over 15-20 minutes. The office is always clean and quiet. No annoying music! The lady that does the blood work is one of the best I've ever had. She knows how to stick without it hurting.

In the past, I've felt very discouraged when it comes to doctors. I'm not a fan of doctors who don't listen and prescribe medicine at the drop of a hat. That being said, I'm so glad I called Total Sports Care and got set up with Dr. Garrard as my primary care physician. He always takes the time to not only listen to what symptoms you're experiencing, but to ask how you're doing and what's going on in your life. I'm very happy with my care at Total Sports Care!
