Checks peripheral vision, which is important in detecting vision loss in glaucoma and detecting masses in the brain. A special light is shined into the eyes and lenses are used to find an estimate of your prescription. This is a very important test when assessing young children. Although we can see inside the eye without dilation, the drops allow a much better view to help us diagnose your needs.
Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness in the world, but can be treated with excellent results. Over 20 million Americans over the age of 40 have cataracts. The National Eye Institute reports that over 20 million Americans over the age of 40 have cataracts. Cataracts are opacities of the lens within the eye.
Diabetic retinopathy (leaky blood vessels in the retina due to diabetes) is the leading cause of blindness in the US for the ages between 25 and 74. It affects over 5 million Americans. Diabetics with well-controlled glucose levels should have a dilated eye examination yearly to monitor for diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Harvey and Dr. Hoffman are InfantSee providers. InfantSee is a program which offers a complimentary vision evaluation to children under the age of one. Testing is done to check the alignment of the eyes to be sure both eyes are straight when focusing on objects. Your child's examination will determine if one eye sees differently from the other, and if glasses are needed.

I was referred to them for follow up care. They called 3 months before my appointment and I told them that contrary to their belief I do not have Medicare and I gave them my insurance information. When I get to the appointment I am told that they don't take my insurance and I would have to pay the retail rate for the exam. Can you say bait and switch

Was recently a victim of the Covid and was laid off. On my second day off, my glasses frame broke. I took it into South Grove hoping they could fix it as I no longer have insurance. Unfortunately, they could not be fixed. I explained my situation and the person I was talking to who conferred with another tech ( apologize I can't remember their names) and offered to replace my frame with one they had on hand that was the same style at no cost.
I was very appreciative of the offer and accepted. They had to do some minor shaving of the lens to get it to fit and when I went to pick them up the next day, Barbara came out and said they would also replace my scratched lens at no charge. Needless to say this was way beyond my expectations and very, very much appreciated. South Grove and their people have a customer for life, thank you all.

I've been going to South Grove Eye Care for two years now and have been seen by both Dr. Harvey and Dr. Hoffman. Both are friendly and professional. I made the switch to a new kind of contacts last year and was also dealing with a stye and Dr. Hoffman helped me get rid of the stye and also suggested a new type of contacts that I have been very happy with. Dr. Harvey saw me this year and was very friendly and took the time to answer my questions. I would highly suggest SGEC to others.

Had a great experience here. I needed to be seen right away because I had something in my eye and couldn't wear my contacts. I called early and they said, "come over right away". They were so very nice and professional. The place is beautiful, clean and bright. I was taken in immediately. And Dr. Harvey was great. She took great care of my eyes and my contacts. I would highly recommend this office to everyone.

I have been going to South Grove Eye Care for years and could not be happier with the care they have provided. Eveyone at the office has been friendly and caring, and they have always been prompt and professional. Dr Harvey is easy to talk with, explaining things clearly in language that is understandable. I would recommend South Grove Eye Care without reservation.

We have always had such a great experience here! The office staff are very welcoming and helpful when picking out glasses. The optometrists are very friendly and comforting to both my husband and I and our two young children who also get their eyes checked here. I would highly recommend South Grove Eye Care!

Both my husband and I were very impressed with South Grove. He said he had the most thorough eye exam he has had for years, and was impressed with the optometrist. I went to them, on his recommendation, to purchase contacts because I was dissatisfied with the office I have gone to for 10 years. A real person answers their phone and is extremely professional and helpful. In person, their office staff was awesome and efficient. We are gladly changing where we get our eye care!

I have been a patient at South Grove Eye care for several years. I am always treated both with professionalism and friendliness. Most of the staff know me by my first name. I am assisted with choosing new frames with honest opinions and recommendations. When I receive my new frames, I walk out feeling great. It is always a pleasure doing business with the entire staff. Thank You
