A cataract is a clouding of the normally clear lens of the eye. The most common cause of cataracts is related to the aging of the eye. Other causes of cataract development may include the use of high-risk medications such as prolonged steroid use, family history, history of an eye injury, previous ocular surgery and chronic exposure to ultra-violet light from the sun.

I have trusted the Des Moines Eye Surgeons staff with my eye care for over thirty years, and I have never once been disappointed. Their caring staff and expertise are why I have never felt the need to change providers despite living outside of Des Moines. They take the time and the effort to do things right.

My wife and I had a great experience having our eyes examined yesterday with Dr David Ball at Des Moines Eye Surgeons. The staff were all very professional and so friendly. They all put you at ease. It was an enjoyable experience. Would recommend to everyone. We have recommended Dr Ball to friends and they have also been very pleased.

Great doctor, I had a similar eye issue I had when I lived in a smaller town a few years ago and this place was much more welcoming, understanding, and helpful when it came to healing up. Great prescription, they really tried to bring down the price as much as they could for me. Overall I trust them and would rather go here if something were to happen again or even just to get glasses cuz I like the people there.

They love eyes here! My 81 year old Dad got new lenses to replace his cataracts and had absolutely no problems. I appreciate my Dr's. Care and concern! He takes my questions seriously and answers them to my satisfaction. Last visit, I was in and out in 30 minutes. I appreciate that they value my time, as well as my eyes!
