Dr. Rodman and Dr. Engelstein are founders of The Eye Surgery Center, an outpatient eye surgery facility located just two blocks from our office. It is a modern facility equipped to perform all types of eye surgery in safe and comfortable surroundings. The Eye Surgery Center is certified by the Health Care Financing Administration (Medicare) and accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). It is approved by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of D.C. and most other insurance companies.
The Optical Shop has been a fixture in downtown Silver Spring for over 20 years. During that time, optician Debra Collins Brown has been the driving force behind its success. With over 40 years of experience, Debra is uniquely qualified to fill complex or challenging eyeglass prescriptions. A Buffalo native, Debra was required to attend school, take board exams and be licensed, requirements that do not exist in Maryland.

Today was the first time I've gone to this eye care office, I was seen by Dr. Marzban and he was great! I haven't felt this heard and understood by a doctor since my old pcp retired. The nurses and staff are super nice too, the few times I needed help they were really cool about it. I would definitely come again.

Great Doctor, cares for his patients more than any other doctor out there. now with COVID I miss going to see him and his team. I went to a different ophthalmologist and I think after seeing Dr. Engelstein for many years my expectations with other doctors are high unfortunately they disappoint easily. I am grateful for this practice.

This office overbooks and will not tell the truth about waiting time. I had a bad eye infection. They said "can you come right now?" Sure. I hurried over, waited an hour. Then asked how much longer? "There is one person in front of you." okay, I waited another half hour. Then I was taken back - but not to see the doctor. They wanted to give me a vision test.

Not relevant to diagnosing an infection, but mandatory, so I took the test. Now could I see the doctor? No, they took me to another waiting room to wait some more. After ten more minutes i went out to the street to get cell reception, called my family doctor and persuaded him to phone in a prescription. Went back to the office. They took me back to another room - but I still could not see the doctor. "There is one person in front of you, but that consultation has only just begun so it will be a while yet".

Note this was 45 minutes after I was first told, "there is one person in front of you." I needed to get to the pharmacy before it closed so I finally left. I wasted two hours without getting a diagnosis.

I came to this place for a second opinion and decided to select this practice for long-term care. The doctors here are very nice and they take the time to hear concerns and thoroughly explain diagnosis and treatment plans. In addition the front desk staff and all of the medical assistants are very friendly and encouraging when going through medical assessments and when completing paperwork. If you want a Dr that takes time to listen to concerns, answer questions and thoroughly explain treatment of care then this place is for you!
